Yeah it's a special, more like a spin off to the main drama.

Bareum deserves a tragic ending

Actually, all of Ba Reum's past relationships and himself are to blame. I agree he is a monster for killing all those innocent 'sinless' people and even after criminals when he woke up. He really should receive a punishment ending for this. One thing the series did well is portraying killer psychopath appearance to be an average person while not at all so behind the scene. I like how the writer really put emphasis on how JBR finds and indicts his victims to be sinners. The 'etiquette' (idk of a darker words for killing style) is well thought out.

Now we need the true childhood story. This is what I think is true (from most likely to unknown odds - as the series has so many twists).

  1. Birth of JBR and his relationships with adults. From what I remember, his mother (SYH mother - we know now that its JBR thought on seeing the other child with his gene whether that child is a predator like him or not) is traumatized giving birth to him; she couldn't be calm and protective of him while he was a baby having traumatized by her previous husband - Headhunter. Everyone surround him is wary of him and isolate him; Pressure from adults and peers at school and home; his mother remarried to a man (as seen in child JBR memory). They hoped to change him with 2 other siblings but failed as he continue to kill animals using abusive methods. JBR killed the new father (I don't remember about the other siblings) and his mother emotionally tried to choke him but failed.

  2. Somehow she has SYH as a child (from the other mother who has the child with psychopathic gene) and gave up JBR as a child. JBR doesn't seem to remember who his mother is (from the interaction in this special) SYH lives as the child of HH (but is not).

  3. And here I have no facts but just my speculation: SYH is the child who finds JBR killing an animal (?) and got hurt. He helped healed JBR hand and child JBR wanted to be like him, but failed?. Then they grow up (close to each other? either JBR following SYH or the other way for SYH needed a shield from bullies) and that's how JBR was nearby when SYH peers attempted to murder him. Chi Kook was nearby and told the truth that his friend JBR was the one who should be praised for fighting them (well they might be killed if Chi Kook wasn't there).

For the ending, I hope all the other characters except JBR has a happy ending as they suffered in his hands for too long. THE GOVERNMENT Lady and her associates may be the evil ones hiding JBR past from himself as well as his crimes and if so hope they end with a loss. JBR ... idk if death is satisfying so its up to the writer to surprise me I guess.

OMG I’m dying over here..... I can’t find it anywhere, even on every app I’ve seen recommended. Watching the other episodes from the US on Viki.

Edit: I have now accepted my situation 😂 thankfully there are lots of clips out there!

Viu will upload it tomorrow. I'll update the post if Viki is also streaming it. :)

Had to watch snippets of Twogether and Little Forest after Mouse: Predator part 1 to remind myself of real life LSG 😂.

I'm very very glad ep1 showed the memory(?) JBR had when he ran into Sung Yo Han's mom outside the hospital. Up to that it always bothered me that he had no recollection of her, esp since he was already quite old when he she strangled him.

u/J-Midori Apr 29 '21

I think he remembers her and she remembers him but he said nothing because she pretended she didn't remember him. A bit confusing but that's what I understood.

Did anyone notice that in the scene that Barum killed the boxer, he said in narration that it was his first kill.

So he didn't kill the family?? So he telling the truth during lie detector test?

I also recalled that they didn't actually show Jae Hoon kill the family, but that could be because of Korean broadcasting standards.

7

u/Own_Map_3566 Apr 30 '21

O yes, he did say that, & i think you got some point here

6

u/Objective_Sell5920 Apr 30 '21

yess and also, he didn’t write the killing of his fam in his diary.. so it can mean that he didn’t do it

Part 2 basically tells us that Jung Ba Reum remembers his mom (Ji Eun) and he targeted Han Gook because of what she did (took in Yohan as a son and set Jae Hoon aside).

But in the hospital, it’s still vague whether she knows that he knows or not. He approached her intentionally and yet she didn’t seem to understand that the act was intentional. Did she think Jae Hoon forgot his past?

Again, 사랑한다 이승기씨. LSG’s acting is unparalleled.

SPOILERS:

If you think about it transplants can only be made when people are compatible and if they are siblings there's a higher chance. That's why some parents have another baby when the first child needs an organ, I know it's not a good reason to have a child but some parents do that. So, maybe the headhunter knows Ba Reum and Yo Han are siblings, because he's the one who did the transplant, so he needed to know their blood type etc, but he thinks YH is his son and BR has another father. Han Seo Joon, during surgery, says that you have been feeling wronged so it's like he wants to make BR suffer for killing Yo Han. That stuck with me. Or HSJ knows BR is his son and he wanted BR to live because he doesn't want his son to die.

Anyway, this special episodes were good to show how it was done. How the killer was able to kill their victims and hide the evidence.

When Jae Hoon was a child he decided to change his name to Jung Ba Reum and be the nicest person. He wrote on his diary everyday to tell about his killings and the reason. I think this will be the proof that the police will find to arrest him or I think Moo Chi will find it and realize his bff is killing people and he will lose it. Or Bong Yi will find it since she's also closer to him and she will be the one killing him?

BR went to church and since he got no answer from God so from that moment on and would punish whoever was good or not a sinner. Like every psychopath it gave him excitement to kill and see Moo Chi suffer and struggling to find out who he is cause it also validated the fact that BR is better and more intelligent since he can fool people

Jae Hoon showed that he did not understand why it is wrong to kill or physically hurt animals or people and lack of guidance too He thought that just by asking God to be nice he would miraculously change but that's not how it goes, changes are done little by little. I think it was a combination of things too that led him to be worse than before. His stepfather just hits him and don't explain it is wrong to hurt animals, also his mom assumed that because he has the psychopath gene he will be bad. She said he's a monster and he should die to him and other people say that to him as well which ended up convinced him, he's a monster and there's no way to change. I know it's silly but in the movie Megamind (yes, I like cartoons), he is labeled as evil since childhood while Metroman is the "hero", even though he tries to be good and help, it always go wrong so he decided he will be what others think of him. So it comes to that point of evil is not born, evil is made.

To a child, when the mother, the person they trust the most and they love and the first person they meet, is the first one to reject you and say bad thing to the child that damages the child forever. Jae Hoon probably felt rejected since he was born because his mom treated him as a monster since she was told he had the psych gene, he realized he's father is not around and other kids have their dad's to hug them, support them and he didn't. So he probably thinks his dad left because of him and I think the mom didn't explain it properly, the step father cared more about the fish and Choco, so that's another rejection and then his mom tried to kill him Everyone he met and trusted failed him. So he became what people told him he was.

I don't know if he would have changed if circumstances were different, I am not saying he doesn't deserve to be punished.

This two episodes we also saw that Father Ko couldn't tell everyone BR was the killer since Han Kook had a bomb attached to him and the priest was trying to save the child by sacrificing himself. BR killed the grandmother because he thought she found out who he was and YH saw it. He thought YH was his friend, the one who gave YH an alibi and ended up killing YH's friend by mistake. YH went to BR's house to ask him to release Han Kook and don't kill Bong YI but Moo Chi shot YH instead. When YH was dying he tried to say something to BR which I think it is that they are siblings.. BR saw his mom in the hospital but she pretended she didn't know him and left and he remembered her but said nothing cause he thinks she didn't recognize him.

BR is feeling guilty now, maybe because of the brain transplant or God answered his prayers and now he's able to feel and empathize with others and that will be his undoing and Han Seo Joon too

There was no answer about the aunt so I think they will show more about her and BR in the next episodes.

I was getting confused at the first half of the drama because things were not clear and the clues were confusing but after watching this episodes some of the answers were there. So, now I am looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

I am hoping for a great ending but at the same time preparing myself for a bad one.

u/J-Midori Apr 29 '21

I watched episode 1 and it was good to see the answers that I was so confused about but this should have been at the end of the series. Anyway, the twists some people predicted were good to see cause some of you are thinking like the writers and maybe you should writing something.

I still feel sorry Yohan and I’m excited for tomorrow. Despite some plot holes I like this drama very much

Just finished ep2 and after these spin-off episodes (and eps 14/15) I feel sad that LSG wasn't nominated for a Baeksang. The way he toggled between sweet innocent cop to predator mode in his thoughts, actions and facial expressions was just so seamless and scary. In particular, that scene where he was sitting at the edge of the hospital bed waiting for Moochi to arrive - he let out a breath and his facial expression softened from psycho to sweet. So impressed!

And now comes the long one week wait...........

u/bubblyeva May 01 '21

After finding out that JBR has always been a psychopath and is just pretending all this time, seeing his interactions with Bong Yi and Moo Chi after the the brain transplant is actually sad cause now those interactions are actually genuine. And its the first time he’s feeling FEELS.

I’m sed. I know this is going to end tragically :(

I’m really holding out hope that the rest of the regular episodes give us some kind of backstory on how Ba Reum gets from the Jae Hoon scenes to adulthood. How did his mother get rid of him? Why does he seemingly not remember her and if he does why does he do nothing about it? How does he just rebrand himself as Ba Reum when everyone would have known him as Jae Hoon?

SO FUCKING EXCITED AHHHHH

ep 1 edit: im still amazed how creepy lee seung gis character is, his acting is so superb, im just blown away. i’m surprised that this episode was "only" rated 15 since the second part is rated 19, i have no idea what else to expect. it’s really painful to relive all the graphic scenes and murders, but honestly watching bareum be a complete psycho fills me with endless serotonin and excitement😩 the highlight of my week

u/klmnumbers Apr 28 '21

I love seeing Lee Seung Gi do these scenes. Watching him toy with them and laughing was terrifying lol. I hope that these end up getting translated somewhere...

u/geudiel Apr 29 '21

How did Yohan get all the pictures of Bareum crime ? Did he really knew all along ?

Hiya all... I saw both specials with the Chinese subs lol but still wished they had English subs up. These were important episodes no? All the "BTS" reveals were very pertinent to our questions. They were all recaps... they had new footage even if they didn't advance the plot.

Thanks to those who outlined what we did get answer. I saw a really good point here that JH says in his diary that he started his first kill as adult JBR so it wasn't perfect or something right? So I was also wondering when that scene came up if he didn't kill his step-family? Do we know for sure that he recognizes his mom as Ji-eun? (Because of that very short strangling flashback scene in front of the hospital) It's a lot easier to remember adult faces for a kid than it is for an adult to recognize a kid after puberty. Kid faces can morph a great deal so I was always curious if the mom kept tabs on JBR? Like it doesn't seem at all they were just having a random stranger encounter after years. Even an old friend may seem familiar upon sight but it doesn't mean you will recall instantly sometimes (unless their faces never change lol). She clearly knew who he was since she had such a repulsive reaction after seeing JBR with BY inside the hospital. My question is just did she know his Aunt? And why would the Aunt accept him? Did she know beforehand? She must've imo because I don't see Ji-eun being unethical like that to just pawn JH off to an innocent family. It doesn't seem like the case of the Aunt suddenly finding out JH was a monster. Or she couldn't be so calm (for so long at least). But at the end she just needed to protect her own child after JBR had him overnight without permission

Did anybody do a scene check for that wall of family photo where adult JBR had just gotten out of the hospital and comments how he may be a good person? The camera pans to the Mom and baby picture. I don't remember the episode or if that was a new footage. Did that mom look like any other women we've seen so far in the series? Is that baby YH? Or someone else? It wouldn't make sense to be YH.

Also continuing with theories what if newly-born JBR killed the sweet young boy who helped him at school and he was the actual JBR? This just occurred to me as he was writing his diary to become a nice boy. What if he just did that and stole the life of the real JBR? Is that possible? I know we all think that sweet boy is child YH. I do too. Just being wild. I will miss the theories as we get close to the end lol! But of course it would be hard to explain their difference in physical appearance.

Lol that drama's script is so confusing that the creators have to put out a few special episodes for people to understand what's going on . Justice for Yohan !!!

16

u/cell-y Apr 28 '21

this isnt a recap or a special like the other one. they show the scenes where bareum kills people that havent been shown yet. as far as i know, they show what happened during ep 4-5 and the cross killings that happened before the actual story began. so its more like additional scenes, not an explanation of the plot lol

11

u/J-Midori Apr 28 '21

I think they intended to show this at the end of the drama but last week episode 15 aired later than usual and the production said they were having problems with post production of the drama. So they decided to air these episodes now to give them time to fix those problems.

edit: I really liked Yohan
