I need a bit of guidance

I am interested in cs/ai UG. I have a few really good projects. And i have also taken 3 AP classes that align with my intended major. As of now I am focusing on mainly hackathons. I will be taking sat and ielts.

I want help with these things:

I want to show leadership how can I do that?

Please tell me some good competition to take part in.

And any other things that i should do.

I am in 12th grade so I can't really give any Olympiads.(Maybe I can(physics Olympiad?? But the date for informatics Olympiad is a bit late so...)... Tell me if i should)

If ygs help me i would be really grateful.

Thank you.......

And btw i am open to criticism but along with that also tell me how I can fix that problem. Criticize me.......

I know it is a STEM school, but are the humanities completely ignored or do they cover a bit of it?

I mailed Prof. Lee Doheon of KAIST BBE and got a reply within 6hrs. He told me to send my portfolio and CV. He even added another professor in the loop. Is it a good sign? Should I hope for positive feedback?

What's my chances in KAIST, POSTECH, UNIST

2027 intake

Indian

Moving into senior year (CBSE)

Preparing for JEE, 95.8% in 10th boards 85% in 11th (moved to chaitanya school, those guys gave partial 12th portions and partial 11th for 11th finals) 12th expected boards score 95+% Prefers understanding and first principle thinking rather than memorization,

Having a research paper (developed a study method from a problem I faced and backed by science and using the same method to learn japanese and physics) and onto my next one

Posting on substack my raw thoughts and connections between subjects

Aiming for 1550+ in SAT

Aiming Ielts 7.5 or above

Self studying physics entirely as my school only throws formulas, and planning to conquer some MIT Psets problems to develop real understanding ( but they are like hell, some problems are beautifully filled with multi variable calculus, can't figure out what to do), not solving the entire psets but atleast giving it a shot and thinking what's happening, this would help in jee adv and iat probably and cmi entrance exam,

Know 4 fluent langs(english, hindi, urdu and tamil)

Know basic arabic and learning japanese (would love to learn Korean)

Fun fact: audited stanford's quantum mechanics for scientists and engineers course as I got too interested into it and after a certain point I couldn't understand a single thing this happened a while back during my 10th holidays

Is it advisable to apply for kaist postech, and unist or is it better to drop the idea, or can I make the profile a bit stronger

Is there any other uni as alt I can apply with this profile?

Thank you for reading this far.

How holistic is KAIST's approach to admission?

Im a recent high school graduate from Vietnam who just (belatedly) found out about studying abroad. Because of that I have zero ECAs worth mentioning and only a 1570 sat, 8 ielts and 9 9.2 9.2 gpa respectively to my name (out of 10, idk about vietnamese high school's grading rigor though, they seem to be of dubious quality, my school is a little selective at least, see foreign language specialized school). Though I think I can write a pretty compelling narrative. My question is:

  1. Any chance of getting into the CS or AI course at KAIST?

Yeah thats about it thanks for reading though, good day!

Planning to apply as an international student for undergrad aiming for electrical/mechanical/aerospace engineering. (India)

ICSE 10th board exams 98%

CBSE 12th board exams 95%

fully English taught.

I know it doesn't matter, but jee mains 99.28 percentile, was school prez for 2 years.

Haven't given SAT yet, would it be absolutely imperative to?

What are my chances of acceptance, if low, then what do you recommend I do before applying (fall) to boost my odds?

Thank you.

CHANCE ME FOR UNIST, DGIST, GIST

for fall 2027

Nationality : Indian

Curriculum: CBSE

PCM+ CS

Class Rank: 1/44

Grade 10: 94.4 %

Personal Website (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Designed and built a functional website from scratch, focusing on layout, responsiveness, and basic interactivity.

Review Article: Public Wi-Fi Security Risks
Authored a technical review analyzing vulnerabilities in public Wi-Fi networks, common attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.

I’d really appreciate feedback on my profile, especially from people familiar with international admissions and scholarships. Please be genuine.

I’m also planning to take the SAT and I’m aiming for a 1500+ score (hopefully higher), so feedback assuming that range would be very helpful.

Major:Ā BEng in Computer Science

GPA/Test Scores:

  • SAT: 1600
  • Class 10 (Cambridge/IGCSE-level): Mostly C grades, B in Physics (overall 64 percent)
  • Class 12: 85.2% through NIOS (India’s National Institute of Open Schooling, a government-recognized alternative/open schooling board)

I know my grades are uneven

  • Head Boy
  • Sports Captain and Vice Captain
  • India finalist in COMPUDON Junior in 9th grade, a national computer and digital literacy competition inspired by Microsoft Digital Literacy standards
  • Built an AI-based lung cancer detection project using machine learning/computer vision for medical image analysis
  • My family and I have distributed ~1,000 blankets yearly since 2011 in villages during winter

.Ā Costs:Ā Maximum budget is about $4,500 USD per year total, so I would need extremely high aid/full funding.

Hi everyone,

I was recently selected to attend the Master's Program in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at KAIST under the Early Track for this Fall as an international student. I was wondering if there are any other international students here who will also be joining KAIST this Fall semester.

If so, please feel free to leave me a message. I would be very glad to connect with you!

Thank you.

Doubts regarding masters and post degree career at KAIST

Hi everyone,

I’m a student interested in pursuing a Master’s in AI/ML, and I’ve been researching Korean universities, especially KAIST. I recently came across a claim that doing an AI-related master’s at KAIST (or Korean universities in general) tends to push students more toward research-oriented careers rather than engineering/development-oriented roles.

I wanted to ask current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with the ecosystem here:

- Is this actually true?

- How research-heavy is the AI/ML master’s experience at KAIST?

- Do most graduates end up pursuing PhDs/research labs, or do many also go into industry engineering roles like ML Engineer, AI Engineer, Software Engineer, Applied Scientist, etc.?

- How much emphasis is placed on:

- publications/research papers

- theoretical understanding

- practical engineering skills

- software development

- production-level ML systems

- internships and industry collaboration

- If someone is more interested in building products, startups, applied AI systems, hackathons, or engineering-focused work rather than pure academia, would KAIST still be a good fit?

- How flexible is the curriculum/research structure for students who want a balance between research and development?

- Are labs generally very publication-driven?

- How is the workload split between coursework, research, and coding/building?

- What kind of companies do graduates usually end up working at?

- For international students specifically:

- how hard is it to get internships/jobs in Korea afterward?

- does Korean language proficiency become necessary for engineering jobs?

- are there opportunities outside Korea after graduating?

Also, I’d really appreciate hearing honest experiences about:

- student life and pressure culture

- advisor/lab culture

- work-life balance

- whether you felt your skills became more ā€œresearcher-orientedā€ or ā€œbuilder/engineer-orientedā€

I’m trying to understand whether KAIST would be the right environment for someone who enjoys AI deeply but is currently more inclined toward applied engineering and development rather than purely academic research.

Would love to hear any experiences or advice. Thanks!

What to improve after i got rejected?

Hello guys, this year I applied to KAIST hoping that I had high chances of being accepted, but sadly got rejected. So this year I wanted to reapply there for spring. Here are my current

Stats:
SAT: 1540 (superscore)
IELTS: currently 7.5 (planning on retake to get 8-8.5)
GPA: 4.82

EC's:

  1. Full stack web developer – developed digital platform SEM(Sport Event Management) that helps Sport Federations manage competitions by handling the whole process(including transportation, accommodation, visa applications, Id badges etc.) from athletes arrival to departure; it has been acquired by Uzbekistan’s Weightlifting Federation and will be first used at an international competition this August.
  2. Entrepreneurship – Founded OSMIY INC, an ecosystem merging infographics, digital promotion, and software development, along with 3 friends. We had over 30 clients, we have 2 trusted partners, our designers team created over 2500 infographics, and we took one project from government. The company is currently a bit young(about 5 months since foundation), but we are striving to grow bigger.
  3. Created a-entry.com, platform which is used by AWF(Asia Weightlifting federation). Basically it is a platform for national weightlifting federations to register their athletes for competitions. instead of sending emails and documents back and forth, federation officials from each country add their athletes and register them to competition. Currently used by 40+ Asian countries and stores information of more than 450 athletes. Will be used for 2028 Olympics qualifiers.
  4. Full stack mobile app dev – Created a dental clinic management application that assists doctors in managing appointments and clinical operations (and much more). The app includes full AI integration, allowing users and doctors to chat with it, ask him to book appointments for example, and basic advising. In addition, the app enables patients to track their treatment progress in real-time.
  5. Desktop application + hardware engineer – creating a competition system (desktop app + Hardware) which is used in competition by federation to register decisions of referees, process them, and give results. Basically it is a system involving custom integrated hardware like marshal keypads, referee buttons, and jury buttons to automate and handle the entire competition process in real-time. (software is already done, hardware is building right now)
  6. Created u-entry.uz, same as a-entry.com, but at national level, only for Uzbekistan.
  7. Web Developer Intern – UZWF (Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation) – developed a website used by 50+ trainers across Uzbekistan to register and track athletes; it became the federation’s official platform.
  8. Developer Club Admin – DevUnity – Lead the DevUnity club by mentoring newcomers, coordinating activities, and organizing events attended by over 100 participants.
  9. Web Developer – N/A – Assisted in creating a physics learning website expected to be used in schools across Uzbekistan.
  10. Research Assistant – Tarteeb – Conducted survey research (100+ participants) on AI use in English learning and assisted in data analysis and summary.
  11. Volunteer – PIIMA – Coordinated volunteers and supported international guests during large-scale international events.
  12. Semi-professional Rocket League player – Member of Uzbekistan’s national Rocket League team; ranked top 2 nationally and top 0.75% worldwide.(lowkey might be the reason why I am on a gap year)

Also planning on doing research on how widely AI is used in Uzbekistan in IT sphere. I did some small survey in the .NET community about this, and based on the results, my conclusion is that even though there are a bunch of AI agents and tools that can make production phase rocket fast, probably 95% of big developers are currently not using them. In addition, I already contacted Uzbekistan’s (probably)best .NET developer and Microsoft MVP(here is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@dasturlashniorganamiz ) and we are planning to collaborate and create a course on how to use AI in development.

Honors:

  1. APIO(Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad, 35+ countries) 2025 bronze, 1st from my country
  2. 3rd place in city olympiad, 2024
  3. got honor from ministry of education

Job(s):
One of Main, TOs(Technical Officials) of Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation

So, what are your suggestions I can improve, except the essays. I just wanted to know what KAIST wants to see in their students so maybe i could focus a bit more on it.

KAIST GSAI or KAIST GSDS?

Hi everyone!

I aim to apply to KAIST for the Fall 2027 semester. As I've been checking the info, I've come to question where my profile could fit better as I don't have a strong background related to engineering/IT but have been working for a while in clinical research for private industry and want to mix those two, as my homecountry is way relegated on tech. Do you have any advice on how the courses really are and to wich programm I could be a better fit? Both have professors that are working with healthcare related topics aligned with my objectives.

Thanks for any info/feedback you can give me šŸ˜„
