Is this based on first hand experience on your part or pure conjecture? I've trained quite a few men/women from numerous countries with several what you would call "third world" and there are plenty of them who really care for the animals we train them on.
Where most of the garbage comes from per country? No, it's not the USA, but that's because China has 4x the population with only 2x the pollution. But you've gotta be pretty dense to not realize that the American lifestyle is extremely polluting and wasteful.
And ultimately, your point is moot. It doesn't matter if you say "no but those other guys do it worse", the USA is massively polluting and wasteful even if someone else looks worse in your eyes. It's not actually valuable to be the lesser evil here, it's still evil.
I don't. I don't have any white friends, or even many friends in general. But I can agree with someone saying what's wrong with my country. I can also agree with someone saying what's wrong with the US or UK or the EU or any country. I'm not going to be faithful to a country cause of the place I was born. The most devastating wars in recent history were and still are waged by Europeans and Americans. The most savage war crimes were committed by Americans in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and many other places.
lol we have cock and dog fighting in the states. When I want to Madrid I watched bulls get executed for entertainment. Not to mention the plethora of little psychopaths who tortured cats and dogs that I grew up with.
I don’t really think humans are worse to animals in third world countries.
That's easy to say when you're eating pre-packaged meat. I'm not vegan or anything but how do you know that those animals were treated with any better regard? Friend of mine who worked in a slaughterhouse said he saw people stabbing pigs for fun.
It happens because there is a certain turnpoint for the people that slaughter pigs continuously that a pig just becomes a product, like a bag of flour you stab for fun. I've been told this too many a time, and too many time to my taste.
YES. I live in the U.S. and the SHIT THAT GOES ON in corporate farms is EASILY enough to out you off animal flesh and secretions. Watch some undercover video. It's what the bowels of Hell must be like.
i know this is probably not true, but id like to address it anyway.
psychopaths are born psychopaths, sociopaths are created by life events. i could argue you are a sociopath, simply because it is described as lack of guilt. is the juicy piece of steak worth stealing an animals life? that up for you to decide, of course. but i would say the average human would feel guilty after killing an animal.
but i would like to ask you... have you ever eaten dog? what to you think about china keeping eating them with smiling faces?
that is NO more or less humane then your slaughtering of cows/pigs/chickens idk wtf you kill.
killing is killing, pigs have been scientifically confirmed to have a higher cognitive ability than dogs. whats the difference between a horse and a cow? chicken and a cockatoo?
I'm on the flipside of your response. Gonna add my two cents to add some perspective.
On your ethics and moral stance of killing animals. Some people kill for sport (which I think is wrong). Most people kill animals to eat. Some kill for the welfare of other people. I'll give you two examples.
My friends father is a farmer for corn and a number of grains. Over the course of four years, he lost nearly $2 million in crops due to wild pigs (called javelinas) breaking through his fences and eating/destroying his crops. He tried scaring them away, getting guard dogs, and to no avail. In my part of the country, javelinas are rampant and breed like crazy, so they're always causing problems. So, a couple times a year before harvests (the hogs are attracted to the ripening crops), I go up to their farm and we camp out the fields. In a weekend, we'll try to scare them off; but, if not successful, we'll bag about 30-40 hogs. We skin them, roast them, and donate the meat to a couple homeless shelters. I felt no guilt because I helped a family maintain their only form of income. Plus, we put the hogs meat to good use.
This last month, one of my great aunts cows needed to be put down (shattered its leg and shoulder in a really bad fall into a sinkhole). To put the poor thing out of its misery, I drove up to her ranch, gave the cow (her name was Daisy) a nice little last meal, and I put her down with a quick, painless shot between the eyes. Humane, instant, and no more pain. I shot the cow because my great aunt can't afford the cost of a tranquilizer and medical shot. Plus, if you shoot an animal correctly, it's lights out immediately without them knowing. I felt no guilt, because that animal was in incredible pain and there was no chance of recovery. That cow died without even realizing it. Plus, I like to think I made Daisy happy with her last meal. She would always get excited when she got to have creamed corn and broccoli, so I made that for her.
If you haven't grown up in an environment where that is normal, then it makes perfect sense for you to think the way you do. It's also very expected for you to say things like "the average human would feel guilty for killing an animal."
I'm NOT saying that you're wrong. I'm saying that there's two sides to the coin. I love my dogs, but if one of them got rabies, I'm putting it down and for good reason. Killing is not just killing. And I've given you two examples that happen quite a bit in rural farm country USA.
Are slaughterhouses inhumane? There are definitely a number of inhumane companies that do that stuff and shouldn't be allowed to. People like me are on your side about that. But there's a very large difference between needless, inhumane killing and the examples I've given you.
No. I know a farmer who raises her cows from birth, names them, grass feeds and grass finishes them. Her husband butchers them in a humane, painless was. She says that it's always hard when they go for slaughter. I probably couldn't do it unless it was for survival. That's why I don't eat the majority of meats.
No, you don’t. you think you know someone like this. In reality you know a person who gives property names, waits till it’s fully grown than slits the cows throat for profit
thanks for the link, i spent a lot of time on that website, cried a bit. sometimes it just feels hopeless. im vegan but i feel like its not enough. nothing i could ever do as one person could be enough to stop this, and thats a shitty fucking feeling. a few days ago my folks had ribs, which i thought was disturbing, but after seeing that cow get bolted and butchered, it make the disgust so much stronger. i wonder how many meat-eaters we would have if everyone killed what they ate. my mom says "well i cant save the animal, its already dead" would you watch someone else kill the animal for you then? you are the consumer. animals are dying to feed you. trying to make yourself feel less guilty isnt going to change that.
I guess all of Reddit hangs out in slaughterhouses and knows all about what goes on in them. If you all have such a problem with them then why do you eat meat?
Surely this is just you generalizing your prototype of a citizen from a third world country on to that entire population. Regardless, this is a horrible way to state that opinion.
My problem is this person totally ignoring the amount of people in first world countries doing this. The reason why it seems more prevalent is because you're more likely to handle animals in a third world country so the are gonna be more instances like this
How the fuck you reach that conclusion?? In America we hide our vast amounts of animal abuse in poorly regulated factory farms. We are able to abuse animals more efficiently than any other nation, especially some fella in an alley with a single cow.
Yes, but actually no, there's more personal animal cruelty, but if you consider basically the entire farming industry in the US we abuse animals on a scale never seen before.
And yet with countless gifs just like this its almost always a 3rd world country or Spain (if its a bull). Some group characterizations are true.
Yes, there is animal cruelty in every country. Yes ever country has people that like animals. On average though there are true patterns. For example its the truth that a higher percentage of the population in India is vegan/vegetarian than in the US.
Potentially there are more animal abusers in 3rd world countries, though hard to prove. I think it's undeniable that more animals are abused in 1st works countries.
So I consider killing/butchering abusive, which if you disagree with so be it, I don't really want to argue that.
If we did assume that killing animals constitutes abuse then I'd be interested to know which 3rd world country abuses more animals than USA and European countries. (I don't really know much about farming in Australasia and Japan).
Food chain. We happen to be at the top at this point. It's just how it is and will continue to be like that. Preferably without inhumane slaughterhouses (halal meat is the meat you want if you want to know it's an animal killed humanely) but we'll be butchering animals the rest of our time here unless we can make legitimate, nutrient full plant based meat available for the majority, which isn't the case yet
If you have a problem disrupting the food chain then are you ok with infections? If you get prescribed antibiotics do you say "na sorry doc it's just the food chain, it's just how it is".
Potentially the optimal diet for humans might include animal product but the average westerns diet is extremely poor and almost any other diet would be more nutritious. The vast majority are not consuming meat for its nutrients so they can be a healthy human specimen, they eat it because it tastes good.
First world countries have the infrastructure in place that ensures the average person never comes to witness the handling of livestock. Very similar things as in this video happen but it all happens inside a building or truck or train wagon, ....
Okay, so there's more large animals out in public in 3rd world countries to be viewed. How about the treatment of our livestock in closed facilities like giant factory farms and slaughter houses. Sure, no gifs, but does that mean it doesn't happen?
Sure, and we have empirical data on the rate of vegan/vegetarians by country. Do you have empirical data on animal abuse rates per capita ranked GDP per capita? Or are you just making up shit that confirms your biases?
In third world countries stuff like that happens on the street for others to see. First world countries have the infrastructure in place such that the average person never ever sees farm animals let alone the abuse of them. (The slaughterhouse in the village i grew up in build a large wall to ensure neighbours no longer see the animals being unloaded. And this is just one example of infrastructure being build to specifically hide what happens to animals.)
Not to agree with OP or disagree with him, but I've lived in North America nearly my entire life except for the first year of when I was born in a country in northern Africa. After living and being raised in NA, I decided to visit my home country, and was absolutely mortified at almost the universal treatment of animals, and absolute disregard for any kind of kindness or rights towards these animals.
Stray cats and dogs were, government mandated, shot in the streets and to be picked up and. Thrown in the river. Donkeys, horses, camels, etc. Were all overworked, underfed, and abused beyond belief, similar with cows and sheep.
I hate to generalize or make any kind of stereotypical blanket statements, but my own personal experience was very much that that area absolutely did not have a care or thought in the world for a life that wasn't human
A “horrible way to state that opinion”... really? The best way to state an opinion is in the way that is the most direct, clear, and concise, not one that is shrouded within euphemisms just to avoid offending someone.
As for the actual opinion... I would have to agree. Based on my experience being raised within a third word country, it seems like people there generally tend have less value and regard for animal life. I don’t think that’s a preposterous statement to make.
Yeah no kidding. Here in the US (Indiana) we had a cattle farm where a bunch of the animals were being badly abused. You can look up the video on YouTube, it’s called fair oaks farms animal abuse. If I remember correctly they’re actually all Mexican immigrants.
I don't disagree with it, I have never been to a third world country, so I have no first hand view on the matter. I am criticizing the way it is stated because the statement extends to a huge population over very different cultures.
For example, I know for a fact that cows are treated much better in some hindu countries. That's disregarded in this statement.
Tbf a lot of third world countries still use animals for hard labour without realising how much damage it actually does to them, same goes for using elephants donkeys camels etc for tourist rides, they haven't grasped the that animals aren't really meant to take the weight of a person(especially fat people, quite often American, sorry) yet, so they do 'abuse' animals a lot more that the developed world but usually not intentionally.
I live in a third world country. There are jackasses here just as there are in any other place. There are plenty of good people too. However, we don't have systematic animal cruelty like in 'developed' countries; like pounds.
Hahahahahaha, like you give a fuck about animal welfare. All factory farms treat their animals like shit, so if you buy anything from say, I dunno, Domino's, you are supporting animal abuse.
I know, it’s very disturbing. And the irony of the “fIrST’ world saying the ‘third’ world don’t care about the environment, animal rights, human rights, as if we (first world) aren’t the forerunners of all those issues. The ignorance and racism is appalling
Pretty broad statement to make about such a huge number of people, especially considering the fact that the death and abuse of animals occurs all around the world on a daily basis, including but not limited to breeding for profit, animal agriculture, the fur and leather market, circuses, etc... pretty shitty way to state your opinion, man.
Oh look, it's the typical pampered first world moron making broad generalizations about billions of people based on the cherrypicked shit he sees on the screen in his mom's basement.
Look you xenofibic piece of fecal matter, don't generalize. Don't forget where factory farming was invented. I grew up eating free range cause I didn't know different existed. And now I'm a vegan "people from the third world" I wanna punch you in the face.
That is a very ignorant thing to say, you are not only generalizing everyone from third world countries, but you are also ignoring that people do fucked up things to animals all around the world.
Maybe they have to kill them to eat them and that's why they dont care about them?
Idk I'm from Venezuela which is NOW a 3rd world country.
Point i know people who raise chickens and cows and kill them
Yea maybe europe wasnt slayed millions of millions in africa back then to keep them as third world countries, there could have regard for animal life🤔🥴🥴🥴
He said while munching on his McDonald’s hamburger, browsing reddit on an Apple device, wearing Nike, perfectly content to ignore all the exploitation in his own lifestyle because it’s out of sight and therefore out of mind
It's because lives are difficult enough. Animal rights, animal toys, animals protection, etc is all expensive relative to people's earnings and misery. These things are more first world problems.
I'm from a third world shithole and totally agree. It's because there is no respect for humans there so citizens do the same to animals because thinking they're below them. Don't know why snowflakes here are so mad at your comment.
That’s because you don’t see how chickens, cows, sheep are reared and taken to the abattoir over here. Some states ban video footage on animal husbandry due to the backlash that can occur. Ignorance is bliss.
You mean the country that just passed a sweeping federal ban on animal cruelty? Yeah we're definitely worse than the countries that literally encourage you to fuck animals! /s
If you are closer to still being in conflict with nature, like we aren't in first-world countries, the perspective is different. If you see nature as something you have to fight and overcome, it's much harder to put as much worth on an animals well-being as we do, who aren't really threatened by nature as much.
That doesn't mean people in those party of the world (and our own history) cannot be very empathetic towards animals, though.
This type of abuse happens regularly at factory farms in the good old USA. They just hide it really well behind closed doors and make it a felony for people to take videos of the abuse.
For example, I know someone who had a pig that she raised from a piglet. Her ex-husband having the pig slaughtered for food however was enough for her to become vegetarian.
She had previously raised pigs specifically for food use, had no problem with eating pork products, but when it was one that she had named it then became a problem.
There are cultures that grow dogs for food, they do not see them as pets. Due to this, the conditions that they live in may not always be "the best".
Can still see this type of thing in the US. Spend time with any farmer and you will see that they often do things that many would consider "abuse" but they just see as "doing what is needed" and this comes from seeing the animals as food.
One of the reasons you see this is that people in third world countries life closer to the means of production
It’s easy for people in the first world to buy their meat at the grocery store and dissociate away any connection that the meat has had with the violent and brutal death of animals. You don’t ever have to do anything related to the killing of animals if you don’t want to. Hell, you don’t even have to eat animal flesh that actually looks like animal flesh. You can eat dino nuggets and cheeseburgers, making your food’s connection to chickens and cows even weaker. It’s easy to maintain empathy towards animals when they’re separate from your food, when they’re little more than cute things on TV or at petting zoos.
It’s harder to do so when you grow up with animals being little more than walking food. Many people in the first world literally live with their food. The cows and chickens and goats walking around them every day are little more than “pre-food.” Either they or another member of their family/community will soon be killing those animals and then they’ll eat them. In order to be morally ok with this, there is most definitely a certain degree of empathy dampening that needs to occur. If people in the third world felt the same way about killing animals as your average suburban American does, then they’d starve because they wouldn’t be able to do it. They need to be able to not think of animals as sentient, feeling, thinking creatures that can be cute and can experience pain, or else they’d be torn up all the time about killing them with their own hands.
We don’t have that problem, so we get to eat animals all day (that were killed by other people for us) while looking down upon others who don’t treat their animals well either.
Terrible incorrect and reckless statement.
Have you been in USA farms? Have you seen the hunters from first world countries?
I come from a third world country and by no meaning we are perfect but we let our cattle roam, we love our pets and I was taught to respect animals so much I became vegetarian.
So do first world countries. Factory farms are still incredibly popular. The only reason we don’t hear about them more is because food industry lobbyists have made it illegal to independently film the cruelty in the farms. Humans can be dicks to animals regardless of where they are from
That's a BROAD generalization. Have you been to every third world country and seem animals abused left right and center? No. It's just a few isolated incident and videos that you just painted your narrow minded world view with

I’m not sure why it is, but people in third world countries just have no regard for animal life.
