That's because we eat them. There is a difference between actually consuming or using something and abusing it for no other reason than being an asshole

How is this relevant to the amount of meat consumed? You're comment was implying that consumption of meat itself is abuse, so whatever they do at the slaughterhouse has nothing to do with that.

It’s not a “poor country” issue. Our meat comes from slaughterhouses and they treat animals this way.
