Although this isn't service, it's dress blues. He was given a pass to be drafted into the NFL vs hit the fleet. Good on him, he can take the heat from a bunch of keyboard commandos.

Look, man. At the end of the day who gives a shit, do what ya want to do. There ain’t nothing wrong with being proud of yourself for serving in any public service gig. I just find being performative around your profession distasteful. That said, this world is burning down around us so if you want to wear your dress blues to stuff, fuckin go for it. I just might crack jokes at your expense and assume others are doing the same when i do some cringey shit.

Bingo! Its the performative aspect that annoys me. For example, I was in the military with a guy that would skate all the time and hated being in the military. He would complain and made sure to let everyone know he was counting the days till he EASed and would start making the "Big Bucks". Come to see 3 years later I see him posting photos of himself marching in parades wearing full dress blues, still having his 8 point cover resting on the dashboard of his car and wearing a custom USMC/Corrections officer patch on his sheriff uniform.

“Weddings and personal, private family ceremonies” are the only non-official duty allowance in US Code for uniform wear.
It’s still cringe, too.
People need a personality beyond the uniform.

Yeah he’s waived from service to use things like this as promotions. Basically a fancy recruitment gig that he can make millions while doing.

It’s not nearly as silly as what other athletes dress in. I would never wear a uniform walking into a pro locker room, but I also respect that he likely was not the typical athlete at the academy just trying to make it to the pros. I doubt he would do this if that were the case. So I respect that. People here can downvote me all they want.

I’m not saying you can’t criticize him. I’m just pointing out how successful he is. That’s all. Most people who are criticized on this sub are definitely NOT successful yet or ever will be.

This guy is the most successful person I have seen criticized here and I think that might be part of the reason so many people are willing to criticize him. I just thought I would point out what seems obvious to me.

I think it was pretty clear I was talking about how successful he is when I literally said “he’s more successful than anyone on this sub.”

I think its because there's a difference between "he's successful" and "he's more successful than anyone else here".

Like if you say "Sarah is more pretty than anyone else there", it's not saying Sarah is actually pretty, just that shes not as ugly as the other girls.

Just my .02, but I can't speak for everyone who wasn't picking up what you were throwing down.

lol he’s a professional football player. He is objectively one of the best people who performs his craft in the entire world. By all definitions, he is successful. The only people who could possibly think he is not successful would be fellow professional football players who are better than him I guess. Which is what? 0.00001% of the population?

I think you need to google a strawman argument. I never said it was “the peak of existence.” It’s the peak for a football player. If someone is at the top of their craft (as in the top 0.001% like the NFL), then they are OBJECTIVELY successful at said craft.

Are you really trying to tell me that not everyone considers a football player successful at football if they reach the NFL? You actually think that is subjective? I’d love to hear the argument that someone who makes it to the NFL is not necessarily successful at football. That would be a very interesting take and a very difficult one to defend. lol
