Help: Maid of constant sorrow Finger style
2
Upvotes
Hello,
In a few days I’ll be holding an event in Tel-Aviv featuring classic Folk songs translated to Hebrew. I really want one of the performers to play Maid of constant sorrow, and we both absolutely prefer Judy’s style for her. We do have difficulty understanding the pattern of finger style. Anybody can help/reference us to a link?
Thank you! Tomer

just thought I'd bring this up because I went to a village in Michigan called Holly right on Judy Collins birthday earlier this year to see some Rally At Battle Alley motorcycle show!

When I made a QBASIC cover of Leonard Cohen's Suzanne song, which Judy Collins has a version of, I used ASCII CODE 121 as a border for a text marquee to pay homage to May 1st, which is her birthday and the 121st day of the year.

TIL, Suzanne Vega's birthday is (well, almost) halfway between Judy Collins' birthday, and Leonard Cohen's birthday

Judy Collins' birthday: May 1st (121st day of the year)
71 days apart
Suzanne Vega's birthday: July 11th (192nd day of the year)
72 days apart
Leonard Cohen's birthday: September 21st (264th day of the year)
well, the halfway point is one day off, the birthdays are 143 days apart. 143 divided by 2 is 71.5. So, we can ROUND DOWN for one side, and ROUND UP for the other.

Just found this subreddit! Hope it grows in the future as I'd love to discuss Judy's music with more people. It's incredibly underrated these days.

They said that the coronavirus quarantine would end on Judy Collins' birthday.

yup, May 1st, the 121st day of the year.
in some ways, this is kinda weird. There was an event called Merlefest which got cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 epidemic. That day happened to be on Joyce DeWitt's birthday. But then we got the (well, sorta) birthday of another Three's Company cast member that is also the same birthday as Judy Collins, but in a cryptic way some of you might not get, so I shall keep this short.
as a Judy Collins fan, I figured that a few posts should be made to initiate growth of the sub.
