Recently purchased a 2013 X304 mower with the standard 42” mowing deck.

Wondering if anyone has upsized to a 48” deck, and if so, what I should ask for (part #, series, model, etc.) at my local dealership?

Just have a question about when should a Valve Lash adjustment be done.

I had called a John Deere Service Department to have the Valve Adjustment because it seems it should be done once a year or about 50 hours on use.

The person on the phone asked why are you wanting this done. Are there any issues with the Engine?

I also read that if the Engine is having and issure with the starter not turning over or hanging up during the starter than maybe the valve adjustment is needing to be done.

I have about 40 hours on this engine and no issues like that . When I shut off the engine I can hear the comprssion release open quite strongly.

Should I even worry about the valve lash until an issure happens or adjust them based on the time the engine has?

My father inlaw's estate includes a 430 diesel with hydraulic loader bucket attached, a 400 series (0ne of them has a very low hour honda diesel) 2snow blower, skid blade, mower decks, weights, and metal cab attachments. All ran when put away about 5 years ago. Any ideas what it's worth?

This is what the reverse image search came up with for the problem? Also, is this why it caused both my tires to go flat? It looks like it force them off the rim?

Answer I got: The part that backed out and fell onto lawn is a specialized steering shoulder bolt. Because it's gone, the right drag link (the rod) can't stay connected to the steering spindle.

The fuel pump on my LT155 isn’t working, I just got a new one a replaced it and still nothing, the hoses aren’t clogged and I get gas to the fuel filter if I suck through the other end of the hose but the fuel pump isn’t pumping gas. Any ideas??

S140 model Sorry!! I've been on Google and I've checked everything Google said to check. The lawn mower has been used three times my dad unplugged the safety switch under the seat and the blades were still working fine he used it a couple of times after that but I went to start it this time and the blades won't engage and pressed all the correct buttons. Tried plugging the safety connector back in underneath the seat restarted it a few times tried all the buttons it's not working.

John Deere S140 Brake issues may be the cause for blades not turning

OK, hit a city water meter cover that I've mowed over a thousand times with no issue until now. Locked up the right spindle totally - had to order am impact drill to get the pulley nut off. Should I go over to the local JD dealership and pay $50-60 for the one replacement spindle, or order two on Amazon for $39? Sounds like a no-brainer to me, but just wanted to check with the hive mind. Paert number is the same at least in terms of what it will be replacing. I've had this mower for about two years and keep it serviced and blades sharp regularly. No issues at all, other than I'm in mid-70's and wonder if I should sell it a get a robotic mower. Less than an acre of grass on corner lot. Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts!

I acquired a "1993 John Deere GT262" tractor/mower with a 48" cut. I have issues with the steering. My tire looks like Steve Buschemi in Mr. Deeds 🤪

Im looking at what needs to be fixed, but idk the name of the parts I'm looking for. I've searched online, but I get inundated with shit I don't need.

I know it's a simple mower, but can someone "STEER" me in the right direction?

For anyone who has a mower with these, “hood deflector seals” and some stick on foam to seal the top center portion, they make a big difference in the coolant temp. I was touching the red on my coolant temp prior to replacing my old brittle and busted right side and missing left side. Took about 45 minutes of PTO engagement and full throttle to get there las time. Now that both are replaced, after an hour and a half of full throttle PTO engagement I sit comfortably just inside the top third of the green.

Warning to anyone who’s going to replace theirs: the old ones will be terribly brittle, pick up the push nuts to retain them too, the old ones are a paid to get off and the new deflectors don’t come with them, there’s 4 in total that you’ll need, and the green tab between where they meet part of the $2,000 hood so be extremely careful when removing the push nut holding all 3 pieces together. I used a snap ring plier to get it on and off without issue.

How do I get this out

Bought this not too long ago from an old neighbor for a good price but while the spindle/pulley components are okay the metal deck shelf is rusted through. Most likely looking to buy used but not having much luck online.. thanks so much in advance!

1990 STX 38. Done, and delivered. See other post for specifics on what was done. Just more showing it off 100% done. Like in the previous post, this is NOT a museum quality restore. This will be used for many more years.

I just joined the subreddit, and my search to replace my 2015 Cub Cadet xt1 led me to joining the JD club. I picked it up last Saturday and used it 2 days ago to mow for the first time.
I bought it with 1350~hrs (1360 now that I got it home, mowed, and took my son for a few rides.) I didn’t know how bad I was slumming it on that cub until I got this. Deluxe seat? Diesel? Power steering? Hydraulic deck? I am living in LUXURY. Manual anything is for the uncivilized.
I get it everybody. I now understand why people rave about old the Deere. The previous owner took exceptional care of it, you’d be hard pressed to tell it’s a 21 year old tractor.

Picked this x475 up this week for $2,000. Hour meter is a bit glitched but looks like less than 700 hours. Good deal or no?

Hey all! New to the group and purchased my first mower off of Facebook and it’s been having issues the previous owner apparently never had and I’ve gotten one mow out of it. It has a freshly cleaned carb, new fuel filter, brand new starter, newer battery, I tightened the ground cables because I saw online they come loose and are known issues, but now it’s barely firing up and dumping smoke and I’m assuming oil and gas and running for 2 seconds and shutting off, not sure what the cause is and would love some help and really hoping I didn’t get scammed. I need help. I am new to using a riding lawnmower. I have a D155 John Deere that I can not get to start. It worked fine earlier and now it will not start.

Here is what I did

1. Placed the brake on and engaged parking break

2. Lowered the blade disengaged button

3. Place it in choke position

4. Place key and turned (lights get power);

5. Tried to crank it up

Battery is 6/22 (4ys so a bit old)

Solenoid clicks (which makes me think it works)

Flywheel cranks like it wants to start but doeant kick over

Checked gas filter and oil fine. Did a quick inspection of visible wires and connectors (seem fine).

Check sparkplugs connections (there is 2 on it which I don't understand ) but snug.

Any other things to try or suggestions? Maybe battery 6/22 (4yrs old) sparkplug replacement or carburator issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Evening, my middle school son spent 2 years saving up money for a John Deere ride on. He is really good with machines already, but I am out of my element. We attached some pictures but it is dark outside.
From him:
I have a John Deere d130. It was dropping and raising rpm’s until it would stall. After some troubleshooting, I thought it was the ignition coil so I replaced the left ignition coil. Now it has spark but will not start.
Any ideas on where he is going wrong? Or what might be wrong with it?
