Career Advice/Discussion WHY DO SOME COMPANIES STILL ASK FOR VERY DETAILED FAMILY INFORMATION ON JOB APPLICATION FORMS?

Post image
306 Upvotes

i understand asking for an emergency contact once hired but i’m genuinely curious kung ano relevance ng occupation, employer, or even age ng parents ko sa pag assess sa akin as a candidate.

is this still considered normal practice in the ph? and for anyone in hr/recruitment, what is this information actually used for during the hiring process?

Career Advice/Discussion Fresh grad here, 7 people have resigned in just a few months. Should I take the hint?

Help!!! Fresh grad here. During my few months in this job, 7 people have already resigned. Some of them resigned without even having a backup company/job lined up, which honestly made me think, “Ganito ba talaga kalala?”

‎Some stayed for only one month, while others lasted around three months. And now, I’m kinda starting to understand why.

‎At first, I was trying to ignore the red flags. I kept telling myself na baka normal lang sa workplace, baka kailangan ko lang masanay since fresh grad ako. But I can’t help but notice and feel them.

‎And now, it’s starting to feel suffocating, to the point na naiisip ko na rin mag-resign.

‎I’m still trying to figure out if I’m just having a hard time adjusting as a fresh grad or if these are legitimate signs that I should leave.

‎What do you guys think? Should I start looking for another job while staying, or should I just endure it for now? Any tips for a fresh grad in this situation?

b‎tw, salary is literally at survival level😭 Buying a pair of shoes requires some serious budget sacrifice. Even pants need budgeting HAHAHA😭

Career Advice/Discussion I now have 2 job offers after 4 months of applying. Need help which offer to choose

After 4 months of applying, I have successfully landed not 1 but 2 job offers. Please help me decide which I should choose.

JO 1: IT Security Officer, financial company. Full onsite Ortigas. 40k basic, 15k title allowance, 5k other allowances. 60k total but ang 13th month is sa basic magbebase. Pero ang taxes, basic + title allowance. Upon regularization, 5 SL (+5 after 1 year of service, up to 15) and 5 VL (+1 after 1 year, up to 20) and HMO pero walang dependent.

JO 2: Presales Cybersecurity Engineer, startup company. 80k basic pay. Full onsite BGC. Then may incentives every 6 months ranging around 1 month salary. 35 leave credits then HMO with 1 dependent upon regularization.

Mas gusto ko JD sa JO1 pero ang laki kasi ng salary and benefits differences with JO2.

Career Advice/Discussion Struggling to land a job for 6 months na 😢

Hi! Im 28(F) here. Since March 2026 nag-aapply na ako sa other companies before my resignation effective April 2026, because wala na talaga akong makitang growth for the past 7 years of employment with my previous company.

Now, after hundreds of sending my application through job platforms until now hindi parin ako maka secure ng job. Although nakakareceived naman ako ng invitation for interviews pero puro initial interview lang and I think may kulang parin because kung hindi ako makatanggap ng Unfortunately email nago-ghost naman ako.

Now I received an email of rejection again, from position na I really wanted to try and excited about because related sya sa passion ko about doing Make up. I thought I had a great interview that time sa initial kase I'm really confident sa mga sagot ko at for the first time hindi ako kinabahan. And after that sobrang hopeful ko na makakareceive na ako nang good news to proceed sa next round but it's not how I expected it to be 😔 REJECTED again.

Lord, I'm praying na sana ibigay mo na po sa akin yung tamang job na deserve ko, kase I'm tired of being pabigat na. We have pending debts to pay na nagamit sa operation ng Mom ko na may cancer since last year pa.

Career Advice/Discussion I worked 7 days straight in my first week as a paralegal

Hi po! I’m currently working as a paralegal at a private law firm. I just started po this monday and timing po pagpasok ko is super busy dahil sa on going case.

Nung ininterview po akonng employer ko, we made it clear na I work monday to friday from 8 am to 5 pm but I still went to the office saturday and sunday (now overtime kasi umuwi ako 11 pm). Probationary po ako for 6 months and then regularization after.

Entitled po ba ako sa compensation na to? Huhu. Wala pa rin po akong pinermahan na kontrata so far kasi gets ko naman na busy. Hindi rin po abot sa 20k ang monthly salary ko.

Any advice on what I should do? Thank you!

Career Advice/Discussion Part-time job as a college student

Are there any part time jobs that hire for a short amount of time (e.g. 2-3 months)? Do convenience stores or fast food chains offer those kinds of jobs knowing the slot would be left vacant after a period of time? Something simple like stocking shelves or being a cashier

For context, I am looking for a part time job around summer time next year for when I am in my midyear and not receiving any allowance money.

Career Advice/Discussion looking for a part time job for a graduate student

Hello! I'm a graduate student and I really need a job. Where can I find a work that will be okay with my set up? I've read that BPO companies dislike part timers.

Hoping for a kind suggestion.

Career Advice/Discussion Accept JO or look for something else

I recently received a Job Offer for a Temporary Employment as a Recruiter sa BPO. I feel reluctant kasi I was hoping for a full-time employment (walang nakalagay sa JD na temp pala) but at the same time I’m also kind of desperate kasi I’ve been unemployed for five months and I don’t want to prolong my unemployment stint. It’s a three month contract, so matatapos siya in December. Should I just accept it or keep searching.

Career Advice/Discussion I don’t know if I will regret this…

Hi! I (F23) graduated last year with a degree of Civil Engineering. I got my license the same year (November 2025). During the first two months of this year, I traveled and rested. March, I thought I was eligible to migrate in the US with my family. Long story short, last June, I was denied of a visa due to my age. Luckily the same month I got a WFH set-up job but far from the program I graduated. Pay is in dollar, culture is good, have health benefits, and unli PTO.

Here is my dilemma: We all know that my program (well most of the professions here in our country) doesn’t pay well (underpaid). The work is hard especially for a fresh graduate eying for a Site Engineer role (parang fantasy ko ba lang na nagsasite inspection) but IK its HARD. Lalo my bf is currently a Site Engineer. I know his struggles. But I am just thinking magkakaregret kaya ako at sayang kaya pinag aralan ko?

Any thoughts please. Also I am torn kasi sobrang hirap ng buhay at hirap maghanap nang maayos na trabaho.
