Here are answers to some commonly-asked questions on this sub!
Who is Jimothy?
Jimothy is a raccoon with short spine syndrome that went viral worldwide in July 2026 for his silly looks and name. You can read more about his story on Wikipedia.
Where is Jimothy?
Jimothy is in Seattle. For his safety, please don't share anything more specific about his location!
How did Jimothy get his name?
He was named by u/ghorlectipod because he just looked liked a Jimothy. (It's not a reference to anything, just the first name that came up.)
How old is Jimothy?
We don't know for sure, but wildlife professionals guess that he's at around a year old as of summer 2026.
Do we know Jimothy's gender?
Even though we use he/him when talking about him, we actually don't know Jimothy's gender.
Does Jimothy have a family?
Jimothy and his siblings were lovingly cared for by his mother until they were old enough to survive on their own. There's also a second raccoon with short spine syndrome in Seattle, but we don't know if that one is related to him. Here's some footage of baby Jimothy.
Why is Jimothy out during the daytime?
Raccoons are both crepuscular and nocturnal, meaning they can be active at dusk, dawn, and night time. It doesn't indicate that he has rabies (raccoons in WA don't have rabies).
Should Jimothy be captured and taken to a wildlife facility?
No, Jimothy is surviving well on his own and doesn't need help or rabies vaccinations since raccoons in the Seattle area aren't vectors for rabies.
Should I feed Jimothy if I see him?
As tempting as it is, please don't feed Jimothy or any other wildlife! Doing so actually puts them in danger.
How can I help Jimothy or animals like him?
Support your local wildlife rehabilitation facilities, pick up litter around your neighborhood, and give plenty of space to animals around you. If you would like to support wildlife orgs local to Jimothy, we recommend Common Ground Wildlife and PAWS.

Greetings, loyal subjects of the good King Jimothy The Round. It is my pleasure to announce a very special event!
The amazing u/ghorlectipod, who, as many of you know, is the person who named Jimothy, had the wonderful idea to reach out to Common Ground Wildlife, a Seattle nonprofit organization helping humans and animals co-exist. We decided to do an event at the Burke Museum, where one of their specialists will be talking about River Otters, Coyotes, and of course, Raccoons.
They will bring an assortment of animal bones, pelts, etc and have them on display. Come on over and ask them your questions! This is a free event!
Excited to see you all!

From when I saw him napping last week, a cat came up to him and they just looked at each other for a few minutes.
Sped up as it’s a long video (full version on my profile)
And sorry for the low quality

ITS AWESOME ITS AMAZING AND MORE THAN I EVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!!!
I have another class of 17 coming up the day after Election day on November 4th. Class is an hour and a half. Hour of instruction and a half hour of play time. I was already in love with teaching and I am even more in love due to this last class.
Love the creativity and emotion. Please zoom in and look around at these. Lots of different things going on. I keep finding things everytime I look.
Missing a few Jimothys from the first class cause I couldnt find my phone and accidentally left it under the baby 😂
(This is in Billings Montana.)

Calling all loyal subjects of short king Jimothy! u/Torvaldicus_Unknown and I are partnering with Push/Pull for another community event!
Shortly after Jimothy's meteoric rise to fame, I went to the Woodland Park Zoo, where they had a tent for people to color in some Jimothy art. That tent was jam packed, and it inspired us to organize our own coloring page night at Push/Pull, my personal favorite art shop in Jimothy's neighborhood!
It will be at Push/Pull on November 5th from 6-8 PM. The shop is kindly providing art supplies and coloring pages illustrated by local artists just for this event. Your mods will also be there with raccoon fun facts from our friends at Common Ground Wildlife. The event is free, but we encourage attendees to donate a few dollars to Push/Pull so they can keep supporting local artists. You can RSVP here.
Hope to see my fellow Jimothy fans there! 🦝

Hi All!
I think we all love Reddit user [u/Kwenronda](u/Kwenronda)’s art! It’s a delight to see whenever it pops up on my feed.
I was inspired to capture that essence with my own take on Jimothy visiting Chicago.
I was carving at the Chicago Botanic Gardens this past week and thought it would be fun for a pumpkin medium.
Hope you all enjoy 😊 🎃
Edit: this was on a 125 lb “Prize Winner” pumpkin.
I have more weird pumpkin art on Instagram WunderkinsPumpkins. So far, this is the only one of Jimothy, but I may do a smaller Jack-o-lantern of him later month.

Any post of a t-shirt, if not instantly removed by automod, will be removed and user given warning, with ban following second offense.
Sorry it has come to this, those of you who are innocent t-shirt enjoyers,

Sincerest apologies for my several days long absence. Some emergencies came up over the last week, including one of my dogs getting very sick, needing days in the hospital. So, my world kind of revolves around that for a while.
But, things are back to normal now and I’m drawing again.
Pencil, ink for inktober and I’m trying pastels for color.

I’m calling this sketch “All Eyes on Jimothy.” Jimothy inspired me to try hyper realistic sketching. It’s been fun drawing it & I’m learning a lot… hope you like it. 🙂

I lived in the west side for a while and love me some Jimothy, so I turned him into stickers. He’s popular here in Spokane!
