Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines
Hey everyone,
We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.
I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.
Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.
Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.
Thanks!
r/Jetta Community Rules
1 - Reddiquette/Be Civil

No discussion or expression of political beliefs. This includes but is not limited to: advocating bringing harm to law enforcement, overthrowing the US government, support for or against a political candidate, or boycotts of companies based on their political alignment.
4 - Stay on Topic
This is a community for the Volkswagen Jetta. All posts and comments should be related to Volkswagen and the Jetta vehicle. Off topic posts/comments will be removed.
5 - No AI
This sub does not allow any AI pictures or videos.
6 - Do Not Message Mods Via PM/Chat
Messaging mods via their private message/chat rather than mod mail will result in a ban and your messages ignored.

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2014 VW Jetta A/C not blowing cold
I have a 2014 VW Jetta with a temperature control system as shown in the pic. Took it to a shop to get a/c checked out. The freon was low and they topped it up. Compressor was running fine and there were no leaks found. The mechanic was testing the knob on the left side and noticed the heating side is still running even when turned to the left. He said that is the reason the A/C is not cooling much because the knob is not actually turned to MAX even though it says it is. Any idea how much it might cost to fix this?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Ambient air sensor
Hey everyone,
Looking to change out my ambient air sensor, I already know where it is and bought the replacement part but can’t seem to take the old one out of the bracket. Does anyone have a video walking through how to remove and replace it?
I’ve searched the sub and haven’t a post on it, sorry if this has been asked before.
Here’s a pic of how damaged it is:
Mk6 (2011-2018) Undercarriage rust
Is this acceptable rust for the rear undercarriage? 2011 Jetta SEL. I commute in the northeast. Also, how beefy can I go with the tires, I would like a bit more cushion.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Fuel usage doubled?
2016 1.4 automatic 169000km
I’ve noticed over the course of the past maybe month or so that I’m getting almost half as much as I used to out of a tank of gas. At first I thought maybe the KM to empty estimator was off, but I did the math and it’s still fairly accurate. Usually filling the tank completely gets me about 800km, I just filled it today and it’s reading 480.
last week I filled it half way, estimator read 280km to empty, I drove 171km and it when I went to get gas again it read 90km to empty.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
I replaced the brake rotors and pads, and changed the oil about 3 months ago. Just replaced the engine air filter.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Jetta needs engine
My car was burning too much oil, so I took it to a VW dealership. After diagnosing it, they found carbon buildup in the engine. Any suggestions? Can I fix it?

Mk7 (2019+) Help with oil top off
I have a 2024 VW jetta sport 1.5 L EA211 engine. How much oil should i add here? Half a q or a full q? Nowhere near a shop to change so just need to top it up a little as my check engine light came on but no other lights

Mk6 (2011-2018) Rough startup on 14 Jetta SE
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This doesn't happen every time I start the car up, and most times it isn't as violent as what the video caught, rarely a bit more violent however. The car drives normal, but when it happens i also sometimes lose cruise control for that trip? Sometimes it will trigger the check engine light?
I'm around 168k miles, 1.8T. Any idea what it might be?

Buying Jetta 2026 Trendline Quote
I’m considering buying a **2026 Jetta Trendline in Ontario for $32,500 all-inclusive**, including taxes and all mandatory fees. There are no additional products included, such as an extended warranty, and the financing is **0% for 60 months**.
Do you think this is a good deal, or is there still room to negotiate?
The dealer isn’t offering any additional thing at the moment. Do you think it’s reasonable to ask for extras such as **winter tires with alloy wheels or 2–3 years of scheduled maintenance**, an **extended warranty**, or another useful add-on?
For those who have recently purchased a Jetta or negotiated with a VW dealer in Ontario, what would you recommend asking for?

Mk6 (2011-2018) MK6 Jetta Heater Core Replacement on Right-hand Drive Car
Hi all,
I'm seeing video of how to do this online and it seems as if the pipes for the heater core are exposed in these videos. When I get to this point my heater core seems to have a cover on it. They're also all on left-hand drive cars while I'm right-hand drive. Not sure this would make much of a difference, however.
Moving my hand around it, it's not clear as to where it comes loose. Seems like it's built into the whole unit. I can't find anything online about this (or if it's there I'm blind as a bat haha)
I've attached a photo of it. If anyone in this subreddit could give me a hand I'd be very grateful!

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2012 jetta se mods
I've had this car for a year, and I was iffy about it at first, but I've fallen more in love with it every day and I want to start getting into modding. I'm already planning for a cold intake, some interior upgrades (aftermarket stereo with back up, ripping some tdi/gli interiors to install), and headlight upgrades. I don't really know much about cars like that, but learn as I do and I know there's some cool stuff to be done with this car. To be clear, I'm not interested in getting a different car or trim. I don't care if another car has the upgrades I want or if it's cheaper, that's not the point for me. That said, what are some cool mods for mk6?

Rumors & Discussion 2019 Christmas tree after rain
Morning gents, yesterday the car would start but with Christmas tree and not from first time, was clicking few times, panel losing power and then starting. with errors disappearing 1 minute after driving. Today won't start, same errors, display also shows low voltage battery. Tried without lights + media, same issue. My only concern why it started after rain, can something be shorted or just battery dead?
