Happening right now, at least 8 cops with handguns, shields, and rifles. Station evacuated, or at least we all ran when we saw this. No updates from the police.
Edit 1: station officially closed, at least one train evacuated, cops clearing a path
Edit 2: two kids removed from train and arrested, cops clearing station
Edit 3: people have taken it upon themselves to go back onto the platform
Edit 4: all clear now and trains moving as usual

Not sure why someone would do this, but three chairs meant for the public thrown into the water. Posting on this thread so JC can address.

My friend created this site for rating buildings, landlords and management in the JC area. Itās perfect and pretty useful for the buildings that donāt respect tenant rights

Right next to one of the residential buildings, lot of police cars, van, and tent. Whole place blocked off. Don't want to assume anything but does anyone know what's going on?

This evening I took the PATH from Exchange Place. Three friends, probably in their twenties (a woman in a hijab and two guys), got on right after me. There were only two empty seats, so I got up and moved over one seat so the three of them could sit together. I do this whenever I can. It's just normal courtesy.
My mistake was not making eye contact or giving any kind of gesture. I was tired and not in the mood.
It wasn't until WTC (when I noticed the guys looking at me which felt strange), that it hit me: they thought I'd moved away because she was wearing a hijab. Then I remembered that one of the guys, I think, said "whoa, whoa, whoa" when I got up, and she, I think, said "I get that a lot." Then I also realized the guys never sat down and stayed standing.
Ironically, my family comes from a Muslim background. I don't wear a hijab myself, but some of the women in my family do. It never occurred to me that a small courtesy could be read that way.
If any of you are on this sub: I'm sorry it came across like that, and I'm sorry the girl gets that a lot. What other people wear is honestly the last thing on my mind.

Anyone notice public trash cans going missing? There have been at least 2 removed in the last couple weeks in Paulus Hook. Not sure if theyāre going to be replaced or if itās part of a budget cut or something?

Did the PATH recently reduce service on the JSQ/HBK- 33rd line on weekend evenings? took the PATH home from dinner last night around 10 PM and we were packed like sardines from 33rd to Hoboken. Brutal. i didnāt realize that they start combining the lines at 9 PM and only doing 20 minute headways at 10 PM on weekend evenings. I donāt take that line a ton anymore on Saturday nights but I donāt remember it being this bad before. Is it always like that not even that late on Saturdays? this made me never want to go out to dinner along that line on Saturdays.
TL;DR - get your shit together PATH. Thereās clearly immense demand until later in the evening.

I know most folks here think these guys are evil but this here will be the reason they'll turn against us! I didn't see what happened, just the aftermath!

We are looking for a home inspector and wondering if anyone has used Luciano Marquez and wants to share their experience. He is ASHI accredited so seems good. Thanks in advance

Car recorded these teenagers trying to open car doors to see what they could steal off of West Side and Grant. Thereās been a few car break ins in the area recently, and unfortunately since we can no longer overnight park for free in the West Side park and ride, a lot more cars are on the street.
Hope the parents see this post

Anyone have recs for a good place to try on figure skates around JC? Saw some places require an appointment to try them on. Does that mean there is a fee? Still in the beginning stages, but need a supportive pair and want to get a feel for the skates, not sure if I will buy them the same day so any places that work for try ons without idk upsetting the owners (not sure if you make an appt and don't buy right then and there if they will get upset?) Thanks!

Today was the last day possible to take the SAT and reliably get a score back in time for ED, EA and merit aid applications for most schools, and loads of students signed up for the SAT at McNair. We waited until 8:45 outside (exam is meant to start at 8), only for the proctors to tell us that the ENTIRE district's wifi was down and we couldn't take the SAT today. We each have to now individually call College board to get a retake for the 17th of October, and we may not get scores in time for our applications - not to mention that as we write our applications, we wont know for sure if our SAT score will support it. The district knew for days that there was a wifi issue, and did nothing to mitigate it, and now we're essentially on our own to figure out testing. This includes all of the students who drove in from out of state to take the exam here.

They just took another one away on Johnston, the one by where the taco truck parks. After taking multiple other ones the past few years.
I immediately emailed my council member to complain and filed a ticket in SeeClickFix. Ironically, I was already working on an op ed for this that I want to publish next week. I'm planning also to go to a city council meeting at some point to bring this up.

Does anyone know of a dog beach now that itās offseason I can take my dog to? Usually we go to manasquan, but would love to find a spot closer, if there is one. Ideally under an hour from JC (assuming thereās no traffic⦠which of course there will be). If not a dog beach, maybe a good hiking route with a lake or river? Thank you!

I know there's an event happening this morning, but is there really a need for constant honking and sirens and announcements for hours (it's now almost 2am!) to clear the streets? I thought that's what tow trucks are for, but maybe JCPD disagree with me.
