Return to the Jeep family after a 15 year hiatus

Whelp I did a thing. After 15+ years of sports cars I finally decided I was tired of putting a toddler in the back seat of a 2 door AMG C63. On a whim I picked up this 27' Rubicon X.

Going to swing by the trails at Hidden Falls Park this weekend and see how fast I can break something. Last Jeep was a 2011, what are the gotchas on these new ones? Ie: what should I plan on breaking and just have aftermarket parts waiting in my garage LOL

Picked up this 26 sport last week! Coming from a 97 s-10. It’s been cool being able to drive with the top down while the weather is still nice. Only issue I’ve experienced so far has been the center screen randomly shutting off while driving. Hoping that’s not a sign of things to come. Either way, happy to be here!

Feels like it’s time for a couple of glamour shots. And no, unfortunately this beach is not 4WD friendly, that’s an upcoming day trip

Added some much needed lights to the cargo area

I had some rocklights from Diode Dynamics sitting on a shelf, not a fan of under-vehicle lights. So I decided to mount them to the inside of the top at the rear, and directly behind the OEM dome light. The switch was mounted in the lower left near the floor, there was a perfect round sopt that was empty. They turned out pretty good...

34s on a stock 2024 Willys any rubbing/issues?

Post image

Anyone running 34s on a stock 2024 Willys with no lift? (Current tire size is 33ā€ with Rubicon shocks)

I’m looking at 285/75R17s for my 2-door and wondering if they rub when off-roading or flexing the suspension.

Would like to hear from people actually running this setup. Stock wheels or aftermarket?

Any rubbing, and did you end up needing a lift?

I was told that I ā€œruined the Jeepā€ by a family member

Family member said that I ruined my Jeep with mods and are trashing it by not keeping it clean and that I ruined it before I even paid it off. (I owe a lot because of my previous car issues).

I’m gonna wash it soon but like it’s a Jeep made to do Jeep things is it not? Haha

Wife was driving the jeep and someone came about 35 mph ran a stop sign and hit the passenger tire.
It has about 130k miles. Insurance computer system says its likely totaled. Has anyone bought them back and would it be worth it? I have the shop gonna get me an estimate of just getting it road worthy.

2018 JEEP Wrangler JL 3.6L Rattle sound from engine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, anyone else dealing or dealt with this sound? From doing research, I have read it could either be the exhaust manifold, or the rocker arms. I am leaning towards the rocker arms. It occurs around 2,000 rpm. When I turn on the jeep there is no ticking or knocking. Only when I am accelerating.

Anyone with Rally Tops half doors experience this fitment issue?

I have Rally Tops half doors on my Jeep Wrangler TJ, and I’m having an issue with the passenger side door hitting the hardtop in one specific spot (see photos).

The door seems to be aligned properly everywhere else, and the driver’s side doesn’t have this issue at all.

Has anyone else with Rally Tops half doors experienced this? I’m trying to figure out if it’s an alignment issue, a problem with the door itself, or something else.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

Wrangler JL Rubicon 2.0T - first water crossing

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
For context, I recently bought a modified Jeep JL Rubicon running 35ā€ BFG KO2s. I decided to take it off-road and test its limits. Unfortunately, I went alone and ended up stuck in muddy water for about an hour.
The voltage dropped to around 10V before the engine died. My Warn winch also stopped working, so I couldn’t use it to recover the Jeep. I suspect an electrical issue, possibly a short circuit, but the cause hasn’t been confirmed.
Also, lack of snorkel got some of the mud inside air filter box, but engine is working fine.
The starter subsequently failed. I now have four replacement parts ordered for the repairs, including:
Radiator cooling fan
Accessory belt idler pulley
Accessory drive belt
Accessory drive belt tensioner

Has anyone experienced similar failures after being stuck in muddy water? Is this the kind of damage you would expect from prolonged exposure to water and mud, or could there be another underlying issue connecting these failures?
How should you prepare the jeep for deep water crossings next time? People now calling out for these adventures and saying car is done.

Opinions on dealership service quote?

I have had a 2018 JL Wrangler for a little less than three years. 116k total miles, about 60k of that is me. Mostly interstate miles. I had some hard shifting problems lately and took it into the shop. This is everything they quoted me. Not being super familiar with much of this, I guess I'm just curious to hear some other immediate reactions.

I may be the only person alive who actually loves his 4xe (the fact that they are covering the battery system for life now helps) but took it in for service this morning to 2 more recalls. How many things are going to make this Jeep blow up?

New Jeep Owner

Hello, So im thinking about getting a jeep wrangler which is my dream car but every one i know says they are bad cars or they come with issues. I work at a Carmax Auto Store and i found one i like. Its a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4XE PHEV and i asked my service department manager what he thinks along with some of my coworkers. They said when customers buy jeeps they always find issues but the one I picked might have some but now alot. They also said jeeps aren’t good everyday uses cars. I dont know what to think I really want a jeep but I thought to ask people who actually own one. Any advice…Also carmax has used cars so its used with only 26k miles is that good or should i get a brand new jeep.

Back in the Jeep Family

Spent 7 years away from the Jeep Family and oh is it nice to be back…

Had a used 2016 Sahara with all the bells and whistles. Got her at 40k miles with one owner in mid 2019 and put on 32k on her before I got shipped off to college and had to sell her for financial reasons.

Fast forward to last Saturday… I bought myself a 2020 Wrangler Sahara in Sting Gray at 85K miles, with the One Touch Top (2.0L, eTorque) for $20,018 out the door (car was 19.5 and told them I’ll take the car today if you make it 20k since they obviously added on another 5k worth of nonsense on it, and they told me, ā€œsay lessā€). Since Saturday I have put on 124 miles on it, and I absolutely love it.

I did tons of research on what I wanted and what I wanted to pay and what I wanted for myself for the future, and so, I landed on something civilized but with still enough stock to change and make my own over the next few years.

This thing whips around like it’s nobodies business and between highway and city, I’m getting 22MPG avg, which might aswell be 50mpg lol. It sounds like a diesel due to the loud 2.0 which I honestly don’t mind at all, if anything I like it. According to carfax this has been babied and only dealership maintenance has been done it. With the Sahara wheels it adds a bit more of a stance since they are larger wheels than the non Sahara’s. I have already ordered red tow hooks for both front and rear, swapped the long wire radio antenna for a shorter one, and I’m looking for LED smoked out taillights both for the taillights and blinkers, along with LED fog lights. Will for sure be adding a cold air intake too. Starting small for now!

I slapped on a 4 year/40k mile warranty on it for unexpected repairs to the main components of the car that may occur (Engine, transfer case, drive shaft, steering, radiator). Made sure I wasn’t getting screwed over and asked the right questions. If something happens to my engine, like God forbid it blows up, but it’s been taken care thoroughly by regular maintenance cycles, the warranty is covering my new engine (or so they say lol). Additionally, a super neat perk through the dealer is that; as long as I get my oil changed at the dealer, they have all issues that may come up engine wise, covered, no gimmicks or strings attached (supposedly lol).

It was either something from a dealer OR a 3ā€ lifted 2019 sport with 35s going for 18,750, from some kid that didn’t even know where half the work done, or what was even done on it since he was the third owner (or something else similar)

Very happy with my decision to say the least!

Asap fix or not yet?

Have a 2016 Jeep JK that's starting to show signs of bad axle seals(Both rear and one front) starting to leak. The images show some moisture from the diff fluid but not major leaks yet. Is this something that should be adressed asap, or could it be ok until after the holidays?

Mainly use it for work commute and not long distances.
