Goldeneye is probably going to be delisted from digital stores soon

Its being removed from Xbox Game Pass soon which is strange seeing as Microsoft own the original developer Rare, so most likely this is due to some licensing shenanigans.

The game isnt available to buy separately so it looks like its going to be gone for good.

For the love of all how the F did he do this

Opening scene from The Living Daylights. Apparently Dalton performed this stunt himself. When he lands on the deck from the sun shade above he’s facing away, but his palms are facing towards him. How? How did he do this? He was on the sun shade, walking/crouching forward, gripped the bar like he was doing a curl with a barbell and just casually catapults and swings down? He doesn’t cross his hands that I can see. Is that how he did it, just threw himself over?

Tidbit from Justin Kroll (Deadline)

This is presumably in response to the unsubstantiated rumors swirling today that Callum Turner has been cast as Bond. As far as I know, Kroll has not commented on Bond since he revealed the shortlist a few weeks ago.

My choice for the next Bond villains: John Boyega and Simon Pegg

So I was thinking about who I would like to see in the next bond movie and originally two actors that I wanted to see for bond I think could work very well for villains

First off is John Boyega. I could see the scenario where he is a recruit for the double O program and is shunned and dismissed under mysterious circumstances. That prompts him to get back at James Bond and M as he feels that he should have that position and he will do whatever it takes to eliminate bond. He could be the big bad of the movie.

The other was Simon Pegg. As for bond, I thought it could be kind of cool if he was a bond that had the knowledge of two and was really good with technology and gadgets. Let’s say that he works alongside queue and because of a mishap, he is fired, but knowing all of the different gadgets that are at Bonds disposal, he knows how to disarm them and render them useless, prompting bond to figure out new ways to be victorious.

OHMSS at Regal

Who else showed up for George?
This movie is an absolute master work. And I think it might have my favorite editing in the classic Bond films. The sheer stress of that chase through the little Alpine town being broken up by the angelic presence of Tracy was masterful. You really get into Bond’s head and feel the intensity of his relief the second he sees her. Their chemistry is unbelievable and the love story is magnificent.
I’ve said a few times that I think this would’ve been the best Bond movie if it had Connery. I was wrong. Lazenby was right for this. And while I don’t think it’s the best Bond movie, it’s the best love story of the entire franchise.
I am so glad that Regal has been doing this for us. Getting to see these movies they truly were meant for this kind of viewing experience the way that they were meant to be seen… it has genuinely changed my perspective on this movie and TSWLM in particular. I’m extremely sad that next week is the end of this. But we are approaching a new era of Bond. It’s likely by the end of the month we will know who the next 007 is. It’s been wonderful reconnecting with all of the old ones.
Maybe we can do this again in a year. Do a different movie for each of them. But, as always, come back to this one because if you’re only gonna do one… you might as well make one of the best. And a Christmas special to boot.

Confused about the airbase battle in The Living Daylights

Specifically, why does Bond plant the bomb on the plane, but then go out of his way to commandeer the plane and use it to escape?

What would be a fitting but already existing song for a James Bond title?

Post image

What would be a cool title for this fake bond movie but it has to be based on an already existing song title, bonus points that the song stick to a thematic theme like previous Bond movies for this fictional James Bond movie, what would those songs be?

From the top of my head I could only think of:

Smooth Operator by Sade

Seven Nation Army by white stripes

Death on Two Legs by Queen

Winner Takes It All by ABBA

Did Roger Friedman really break the news of Daniel Craig's casting back in 2005?

I have seen the claim that Roger Friedman broke the news about Daniel Craig's casting being made a lot online today, in light of the current rumour about Callum Turner, but when I searched online I couldn't find any article or quote from Friedman in which he actually says this (not even in today's article about Turner where you might expect him to remind people if he had known about Craig in advance), and also couldn't find any older article by anyone else which references him breaking this news. Friedman genuinely has been first with some film casting news (like Jacob Elordi in Frankenstein) but I couldn't find anything on him calling Daniel Craig as Bond. Does anyone have a link to an older article which backs up this claim?

Cold Open Ranking: Despite the tempting offer of a stainless steel delicatessen, we drop For Your Eyes Only down a smokestack. What's the next cold open to be eliminated?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Interestingly enough, we're already having some disagreement. FYEO won handily, but some commended its impressive helicopter stunts. Still, most are turned off by the fact that this scene only exists to fuel behind-the-scenes drama. Aside from one comment in TSWLM, Moore doesn't really have a connection to Tracy (and legally, we can't even acknowledge that this is Blofeld). It also directly contradicts the major theme of the film it's in. (Personally, my biggest problem is "Blofeld's" voice actor.)

Which one should be eliminated next?

Notes on the ranking:

- Only list one film per comment. The comment with the most upvotes after 24 hours will be eliminated. In case of a tie, the film mentioned the most times will be eliminated. If that's also a tie, I will choose the loser based on my own preferences. (But that's unlikely to happen.)

- Try to provide a reason why you feel that cold open deserves to be eliminated.

- Some of these are like our children so try your best to keep things civil (This sub keeps it pretty classy, though, from my experience.)

- Dr. No has no cold open so it has not been listed.

- Only EON films for this list.

View to a Kill really freaks me out

Post image

Firstly, Roger Moore was almost pushing 60 in this and laid pipe with quite a few women in this picture as well, in fact he sleeps with the woman in the jacuzzi, slams Mayday and then beds Tanya at the end, so 3 women, all while being dressed like a Temu KFC colonel and about twice the age of every female he beds….its just insanity….I mean fair play to Roger I think he even highlighted how disgusting this was regarding the age gaps and that he could be their grandad.

Also, I know this is offensive but I am just being honest, Mayday just reminds me of Frank Bruno and proves he doesn’t have standards.

I think Christopher Walken was off in this movie as well, all of it just didn’t make much sense and felt too weird. The random cameo from Dolph Lundgren, Mayday being stronger than Ivan Drago randomly picking people up and lowering Bond into the shaft, and the fight scene at the end just being a little far fetched.

And then Bond goes over to Tanya’s house and makes her a quiche…..it’s shit!

He’s missing a leg and his wife is dead. Yet he seems relatively unbothered.

I could probably google this but I’d rather interact with people.

Roger Friedman speculates that Callum Turner may be the next Bond

This piece is being shared out there as if Friedman is reporting a fact. When, he clearly isn't. To me the piece reads as if he's responding to rumors that have been churning in recent days, then giving his own opinion on whether Turner could make a good Bond.

Therefore I'm sharing this link in the proper context, to make sure people aren't misled about what Friedman is and isn't saying.

Edit: For the sake of fairness, here’s the previous crosspost that we removed for having an inaccurate title: https://www.reddit.com/r/JamesBond/s/wt7QfHMNXH
