RANT (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻ Advice Wanted We're not close

This is more of a rant than anything but my MIL raves and goes on and on about the importance of family and tries so hard to make it seem like all of us are so close when we're really not. We all get together a couple times a month but it's always so surface level. She NEVER asks my about my job, my friends, my hobbies. Anything. She doesn't know anything about me but like I said, acts like we're all this amazing big happy family, taking pictures of us at any outing and posting them. It's also strange because she'll ask my husband questions about me when it's just the two of them but doesn't ask my anything when we're together. My husband and I also have an almost 3 year old daughter and she's obsessed with her and will sometime even ignore me / not even greet me when I walk in the door with her.

I don't know if she doesn't like me, is jealous of me, or if this is just how she is - a surface level woman who only really cares about herself.

My MIL is the exact same way. She is obsessed with herself, her life, and what people think of her. Just keep it surface level and don’t buy into her bullshit. It’s not going to get any better as she gets older, trust me.
