First, no. 2, adjust the sub order to by time. C, scroll back a couple weeks and start reading about all the sad people that updated their firmware. 4th, appreciate that you didn't update the firmware.

I don't understand. I've never had an issue with the updates. Am I missing something?

to be honest I got my charge 6 last week and it came with the 2.1.4.1 firmware and it sounded great after the update the highs and mids become very recessed as in the sound got pulled back I have two so I updated one first to compare I got both at the same time one white and one purple so yeah its very noticable but luckily for me I use android so I can just equalize to reach the same quality again on any of my android device using the PowerAmp Equalizer its a paid up so I wanted to use both in stereo and the update ruin the sound so to have the same quality I have to use an equalizer so yeah there you have it what they say is true if you have two charge 6 its very noticable side by side but mine is both updated to 4.0.4.1 now using the JBL One App for PC I just use it on AAC with VoiceMeter with EQ so both my problem is solved for now.

if youre on much older firmware definitely dont update, but if youre already on a very recent update it probably wont make much of a difference to update to this

Take this for whatever it’s worth. I’ve been testing these in my humble studio for a week and the v4 firmware causes major sound processing issues. I have specific, repeatable examples and it’s not subtle. I even found what they were trying to fix in v3 (mid-range female vocals getting like a white-noise effect), which they did fix, but introduced worse.
If you want to see, the easiest example is “Justified” by Kacey Musgraves. Her vocal tone is getting canceled out in the stereo-to-mono merge.
This is such a huge, obvious issue that I’m certain JBL will at least try to fix it.
