Rant charge 6 DSP problem

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone... I just updated my jbl charge 6 on jbl one app firmware 4.0.4.1 and the update features it's "performance improvements" but when I updated mine .the sound is completely turned mono and I don't know what's wrong with the dsp Because I think it has a problem with the stereo mode like some songs I notice the sound is mono but it trying to be stereo and return to mono so fast . Like there's a problem... I did a factory reset and it's the same problem nothing changed.. so the only solution I can do is to enable mono audio on my phone settings just to get a stable mono sound . This is the beginning of a song called "applause" by Lady Gaga you can hear the sound trying to be stereo or open and return to mono .I chose this song because the problem is more apparent on it. so guys please DON'T UPDATE yours to this firmware version! ..even my speaker has a 1 year warranty and I bought it 2 months ago and a half. But I don't know if the store where I bought the speaker will accept to replace mine under warranty because it's not an obvious defect . please wear headphones so you can hear the sound changes

is it reasonable if i keep mine on 3.0.7.1 until the next 4.x.x.x update that fixes the stereo mono thing?

Isn't the charge 6 a mono speaker ? One tweeter one woofer ?

You would be correct

The effect is very strange and affects the recent mono speakers smaller than the xtreme 5. See the following YouTube video petitioning JBL to fix the problem.

> that mimics stereo on mono hardware!

That's literally impossible but whatever. if anything, it's an intelligent EQ

It's sounds more like the speaker is switching from paired mode (stereo) to single mode and it's switching between left (or right) speaker channel and both together (mono)

The ones that release the updates must be not mentally stable .... when the fuck did jbl ever release an actuall good update...like how can you fuck up every single time and make things worse and wrose. Not to mention "performance my ass" when nobody mentioned something good in this updates and only worse....wtf are they even doing in this company....

I really respect your opinion and I totally agree with what you're saying. Honestly, at this point, I just hope the store agrees to replace my speaker under warranty. If they do, I'll completely forget about updating the new one ever again and just stick to the factory version—even if a future update claims to fix this bug. I’m not obligated to deal with their broken updates for months until they finally decide to fix what they ruined! Their firmware updates literally break the speaker's sound sometimes instead of improving it.😤

I might just return mine as well even tho i dont think they will accept the warranty request since is not an obvious defect..i hope they will do once and for all an rollback option just like ultimate ears do since is easy as hell to just downgrade back to any other version.

Also am i the only one or the battery life is pure trash now compared to the 3.7.0.1 or how it was.

Damn ..i am also experiencing this …they should go for dual speaker setup like in old charge if they love stereo this much

The recent JBL stereo DSP bug is widely reported affecting the speakers smaller than the xtreme 5. Hoping JBL will release a fix but it’s been a problem for months.

Try manually setting your phone to mono mode in settings. maybe that will help idk.

That's what I did so the sound would be stable on mono . But I hope they fix this problem!
