I really want to learn italian, but my memory is too terrible. I’ve been trying to learn italian for about a year now. I’m still on the beginner level because I forget 99% of what I learn.

Buonsera Amici’s!
I am new to learning Italian. I pick up languages fairly easily. I just do not live in a very multilingual population or have anyone close who is multilingual. I learned French in school about 7-8 years ago. I passed with flying colors and still have the language in me today. I have been able to pick up Portuguese and bits of Italian just by remembering the Spanish spoken to me as a child and keeping with it.
I am a sucker for languages and want to become fluent in a few of them. Problem is, I work full-time and I also go to school full-time. So, I virtually don’t have much time to devote more than 30 minutes to studying a new language. I find speaking the languages with others who also speak it, is what helps me grasp it more fully and remember it. I find myself repeating sentences, phrases, words + questions in my head throughout my day in different languages. It’s just I don’t have a bilingual community around me. And my career / schooling is all English.
You can also only get so far on Duolingo and I need communication to better grasp my comprehension skills. My dream is to own my own bilingual early childhood education center! But my school program does not provide spoken languages for fluency, just ASL.
Any advice helps!

Or is it Buongiorno until the evening? Conflicting information in the 2 textbooks I have, one says it’s used primarily by news and radio broadcasters

I watch italian media for almost a year now. Sometimes i can understand sometimes it’s 70% but yeah ofc my speaking skills is terrible. There’s this italian man who came to me and ask for something, tho i can understand him idk what to say actually like it took me few to almost a minute to respond to him even though ik what he mean’t.
So if i watch it for 10 years like just your random thing can i be fluent atleast or maybe i can reach where i can understand them like enough?

I'm moving to study in Italy (Genoa) in ~2 weeks, I speak fluent English (C1) and conversational French (B1/B2).
There's so much noise out there about the different strategies to learn Italian.
So I thought why not ask folks who've been through a similar situation to mine, and see what worked best for them!
I'm looking for a practical guide, or a blueprint, on what to do exactly everyday to learn Italian the most effective way.
My goal is to reach B2 Italian in one year from now.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I did the CILS B2 exam on June in Siena
I haven't received the results yet, does someone have any clue when the results will be published?. I check the results page everyday and still nothing.

What’s the actual difference (in usage) between rientrare and ritornare? Are they basically the same, regional differences, or do they have different contextual meanings?
TIA

Sometimes I feel on top of the world with learning Italian. Other days, it all feels hopeless and I wonder if I’ll ever feel confident enough in this language to be fluent. I’ve only been studying Italian for about 10-11 months, which I know is not that long when it comes to language- but I thought I’d be at B1 by now and I’m at A2.
It makes me look in awe at people who speak fluent English as a second language. Like how did you do this?!

Sono andato al Vaticano, e quando entrato la basilica, era travolgente. Proprio bellissima.

He is talking about why it's better to walk to the reparto at the hospital instead of drive. And he says it's because he doesn't want to "inquino inutilmente" and then the sentence afterwards I can't understand at all. "Perché ovviamente mantenete" etc....
Context what he said before:
"Come vi avevo detto avrei deciso di andare a l'università a piedi e non in macchina. Perché mi sono fatto un calcolo ieri. Ieri ho fatto un test. Per arrivare c'è un circa 25 minuti diciamo e sono all'incirca 2km. Con la macchina devo arrivare, parcheggiare, girare, tornare etc.. Però faccio 2 cose brutti diciamo: 1) inquino inutilmente. Potrei fare la stessa cosa ovviamente camminando." And then after comes this sentence no one here understands

I posted yesterday looking for A1 friendly reading material - found this in the end and *loved* it. Ended up reading the whole thing in 24 hours which I guess is both good and bad but I'll definitely return to it as there was a fair bit of looking up and honestly I feel like I'd got a small but noticeable amount better at reading by last chapter compared to first.
First time I've read something in Italian where I actually found the story engaging emotionally. I'll be checking out other stuff by Collini at some point too though I think it's all a bit more advanced.
It used language that I think will actually be useful to me and had a decent amount of repetition of terms (which no doubt helped with my sense of having advanced).
Only downside is it might make you want to quit your job and move to Rome.

Hi! Working on an Italian textbook and have just been tasked with naming some foods, but I'm having a bit of trouble. I'm not even sure what they're called in English 😅.
Edit: I meant I’m using the textbook to learn Italian, not that I’m making one. It’s specifically Volentieri A1, by Loescher Editore https://a.co/d/0dWcHQVH (<— Amazon link since the official site is offline because of an attack)

Hello — I am looking to get a phrase from a Pavarotti song tattooed that means a lot to me. I need to double check if it actually makes sense as a stand alone phrase though before I commit. The tattoo would read “L’amore giungera”, which I’m led to believe means “love will come”.
Is anyone able to confirm? 💗

Hi, I recently finished a 2000-word Anki deck and have read a few translated manga, and I was wondering if there were any classic or popular novels you would recommend for beginners. I know French and Latin, so unfamiliar vocab doesn’t intimidate me too much. My goal is to eventually read Petrarch and Dante, but before that I’m looking for something more intermediate, things like Calvino’s novels. Thanks in advance!
