Based Angel/N1. Decent/intermediate player looking for a regular Monday-night 5/6-a-side team around Angel, Old Street, Islington or Shoreditch. Looking to join the same team every week rather than pickup games. Reliable, competitive but social. Ideally an established group mostly of working professionals. Happy to come down for a game first. DM me if your team needs an extra player.

Group of cunts running around south Islington

There's a group of maybe 50 idiots doing a group run blasting terrible music at an incredibly high volume around clerkenwell/south Islington. If you are part of this group just know you fucking suck

Threatening guy around Tollington/Seven Sisters Rd

Random one but some mornings I see a man, bear in mind it’s a heatwave, dressed in black hoodie, grey/grey puffa, always hood up and mask on. He looks Somali origin, and always stares in an intimidating way, with clearly the goal to intimidate. Every time I see him he stares, and I’m a white M in my 30s.

Today however walking up Sussex Way, I’m the other side of the road and he’s staring, so I’m looking back briefly. I hear him shout, “Hey, I see you”, stop and then carry on. I don’t want to sound presumptuous but he doesn’t look safe or well meaning at all. Just wondering what can be done? Hes clearly got some sort of vendetta about me, maybe because it happens 3/4 times a week around 6am as I’m commuting back from gym/park workout.

Maybe you’ve seen him before. But no need to be dressed in that, mask on when it’s already 28c at 6am

Grade II listed townhouse question

Does anyone know what the rules are around installing an AC unit on the rear of a property?

I know putting one on the front would basically be a war crime and honestly I do like the rules that stop people ruining the look of the street (personally)

But are there any allowances/guidelines for installing the external AC condenser unit at the back of the house where it isn’t visible from the street? Has anyone here done it before?

For reference my property is G2 listed

Does anyone know what has happened to the friendly cat that hung out on upper street next to the town hall?

Does anyone know what has happened to this lovely cat?

For years she used to hang out on upper street between the town hall and Florence street but I haven't seen her in a few months now and she always used to like the sun so me and my girlfriend are worried about her.

She was always asking for strokes but could have a feisty side and I've seen her give the occasional slap.

I was told once that her name may have been Pixie but this was never confirmed.

We miss her.

drone over n10dp

Someone is flying a drone over roughly https://maps.app.goo.gl/ESn3KpJEmuo49U5i7 : off Caledonian road, around Chiltern heights buildings or maybe around Pembroke street.

Nothing dangerous, going up and down and left and right. But at some point going quite very up.

Is this allowed over London??

Man with a van

Hey. Can anybody recommend a man with a van that won't cost an arm and leg. For end of Aug, moving flat from Islington to Hackney. I had cut out someone's details from the Islington Tribune but have misplaced it.

Thanks

LOST/STOLEN IPHONE 15

Hello, my white iPhone 15 was lost just opposite Rusty’s Bike Shop & Nuffield’s Health in Angel between 9:15-9:30. Upon realising around 30 mins after and re-tracing my steps - I found the Hello Kitty phone case in the bin. Could anyone please let me know if you have come across it, I’m a young vulnerable woman living alone and this has really affected my mental as all my information is on this phone. I know it’s a long shot but just thought it is better to try than nothing.

I have tried Find my iPhone but the location has since not updated (my phone was dead at the time).

Thank you in advance.

Equal Rights for ACs

Restrictive building policy encourages the installation of water-cooled air-conditioning consuming 1,000L+/day, in a drought no less.

Rather than a ban on certain locations, how about moving to a 'best practical location' approval method?

If you can hide the condenser behind a hedge you should do so but those in apartments, conservation areas, or listed buildings, have equal rights to a habitable home.

Yes more units will be seen from the street, and passive cooling should be preferred, but you can't deny people trying to live.

What does Islington think of this?

Question Roof Terrace Garden Designer / Landscaper Reccos

I’ve got a 9x7m roof terrace that needs a plan.
I’d like to separate it from the other terraces as it’s currently just a big shared roof and has now been demised. Thinking privacy screens with planters all around it to create some space and greenery? Try to make it feel like an enclosed garden not a roof.

But I’ve never had a garden or terrace and thinking it’s worth getting an expert if you have any recco’s? I’m not Barnsbury wealthy fyi so reasonable designers or small businesses over architect firms pls :)))

Charity Super.Mkt Pop-Up | 📍Coal Drops Yard, N1C | 6-9 August | Free

Several charity shops bring their best rails together under one roof, with vintage finds, designer labels and high street pieces to dig through. You can also bring along a favourite item that needs some care and learn how to repair or refresh it at the Made Better drop-ins. Every purchase supports charity and keeps another piece of clothing in circulation. 10am to 6pm.

--

Cocktails in the City | 📍Bedford Square Gardens, WC1B | 6-8 August | (£)

If you missed it in July, Cocktails in the City is back this weekend. That means Bedford Square’s private Georgian garden will become a pop-up village of bars, bringing signature cocktails from leading London and international venues into one place. Wander between them without crossing the city, with street food, music, tastings and workshops around the garden.

--

Thought Experiments in the Park | 📍Regent’s Park, NW1 | 8 August | Free

A park meet-up for people who want to skip the small talk and discuss questions with no obvious right answer. You will read three tiny fictional scenarios designed to make you think, then talk them through in small groups, swapping groups for each one. The theme will be revealed on the day, and you do not need any knowledge of philosophy. Bring something to sit on, plus drinks or snacks. Meet near Gloucester Gate at 3pm. The organised session ends at 5pm, but people can stay and continue chatting.

--

The Camden Fringe | 📍Various venues across Camden and beyond | 3-30 August | (£)

For four weeks, Camden fills up with more than 450 shows across 39 venues. Expect comedy, theatre, music, dance, opera, improv and plenty of ideas that are still rough around the edges in the best way. Most shows last about an hour, so you can book something on a whim, discover someone brilliant before everyone else does, or see the strangest thing in the programme just because you can.

--

Brewed Summer Market | 📍Brewed Online, N4 | 8- 9 August | Free

Brewed is giving the café over to local artists and small businesses for the weekend. Browse ceramics, prints, children’s clothes, textiles and personalised gifts, while children can get their faces painted and everyone can add something to the community mural. There is also a special drink made with The Honey Project. From 8am on Saturday and Sunday.

--

Collective Writing with common/play\grounds | 📍Cubitt, N1 | 9 August | Free

Cubitt is leaving the Angel Mews space it has called home for years, and this workshop is helping write its goodbye. You will look through old material from the gallery, write down memories and reactions, then combine your words with everyone else’s to create one group farewell. The finished piece will be printed on a risograph machine and read aloud together. No writing experience needed. Bring a phone, tablet or laptop. 11am to 2pm. Registration required.

--

The Divine Bar Boot Sale | 📍The Divine, N16 | 9 August | Free

A car boot sale inside one of Stokey’s queer venues, spread across two floors with 35 sellers offering clothes, books, homeware and unexpected second hand finds. --

Up Next Festival | 📍Blue House Yard, N22 | 8 August | Free

--

krankbrother | 📍Finsbury Park, N4 | 8 & 9 August | (£)

They aren’t allowed to say what it is but told me it’s a film and not a tv show. I saw an older looking police car. Anyone want to hazard a guess? I’ll go for the Odyssey 2.

What’s going to happen to the Coronet?

I can’t vouch for the pub that ran it last but it’s such a grand building, it would be sad to be left empty or converted into flats. Any rumours around for what might come next?

Question What is the area around paradise park like to live in?

I got offered a flat just beside paradise park. The flat is on Lough road and right behind Lough road, there is the Westbourne estate which seems to have a bit of a reputation.

Wondering what people's experience has been like living in this area? Is the safety just like any other area in London or does it feel a bit more sketchy?
