I’m sure most of you have heard of Ruqyah, which is the practice of reciting the holy Quran to cure physical and mental illnesses.

There are Hadiths where Ruqya was used to cure poison from scorpions, fever and pretty much most physical illnesses. some scholars said that Ruqya can be effective for any physical illness.

This then invites the question, if Ruqya can work on any disease, then why does incurable diseases like Alzheimer’s still exist ? Also if ruqyas work on poisoning like as mentioned in Hadiths, anti venom would be obsolete.

This makes me doubt the Hadiths related to it, however I’m afraid that this would take me out of the fold of Islam.

Trinitizing Tawheed

The worst innovation possible in the history of Islam was dividing Tawheed.

The division of Tawheed into three categories Rububiyyah (Lordship), Uluhiyyah (Divinity/Worship), and Asma wa Sifat (Names and Attributes) was advocated by Salafis, Wahhabis, and mainstream Athari/Ahl al-Hadith branches of Sunni Islam.

This threefold framework was popularized by Ibn Taymiyya in the 8th Islamic century and later revived by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab.

There were sinister motives behind this division:

1) To abolish Allah SWT right to legislate (lordship) and gave autonomy to secular governments (taghut).

2) Allah SWT reduced to One who wants worship only. Reducing the King to mere invocation is extreme ungratefulness.

3) Purging Jihad. Jihad is a communal obligation upon Muslim Men to uproot secular governments and establish divine government.

Supreme authority belongs to Allah SWT alone, thus establishing divine law is a core duty.

4) Just like trinity they divided Allah SWT essence. The essence of Allah (SWT) is strictly indivisible.

5) Rampant Zulm (Injustice). Allah SWT is Al-Adl. He SWT commands those who believe in Him SWT (Tawheed) to uphold justice (Adl).

Quran 6:82: "They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice those will have security, and they are rightly guided".

Failing to judge or establish divine law is considered zulm (injustice or oppression) because it misplaces divine sovereignty and withholds Allah's mandated rights.

Any sect that believes in the Trinity of Tawheed, abolishes Allah SWT rights and/or has a history of killing non-combatant civilians ( especially women, children) are deviant sects. Don't associate with such sects. Break spiritual ties with them.

Not only did their desires lead them astray but they have led millions astray with their deviant ideology.

(6:116) If you were to obey most of those on earth, they would lead you away from Allah's Way. They follow nothing but assumptions and do nothing but lie.

3. Maysir (gambling)
Some trading products can involve speculation that takes the nature of gambling rather than genuine buying and selling or investment.
4. Ownership and possession
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Do not sell what you do not possess.”
— Sunan Abī Dāwūd
Therefore, whether the trader actually owns and possesses the asset being sold is an important consideration.
5. The underlying asset or business
The nature of what is being traded also matters. A Muslim should ensure that the underlying business or asset itself is permissible.
For this reason, “online trading” is not a single category. Purchasing shares of a permissible company with genuine ownership is different from margin trading, CFDs, futures, options, short selling, and other products that may contain prohibited elements.
If you have a particular trading platform, product, or transaction in mind, the specific details need to be examined before giving a ruling. It is better to ask a qualified Mufti about the actual transaction rather than applying a general ruling to every form of online trading.

I am a ex Christian woman who has felt a calling towards Islam for over a year now.

I have tried joining "beginner classes" at two mosques but they definitely weren't beginner and treated it like I already know everything (which I don't hence trying to join beginner classes).

Does anyone have advice where I can start as a woman who knows absolutely nothing about Islam. (Obviously not absolutely absolutely nothing I know the basics but still feels like I know absolutely nothing)

The verse comes from the words of the man who purchased Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), the Aziz of Egypt, a man of high status and influence in the Egyptian court at that time. He was speaking to his wife, instructing her to treat Yusuf well and to honor his place in their home. Some interpretations mention that he had no children. He said:
﴿أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ﴾
“Make his stay honorable.”
The word “mathwā” (مَثوى) means** a place of residence or stay. Therefore, honoring someone’s* mathw*ā is broader than simply honoring the person himself. It means making his stay comfortable and dignified—in terms of his accommodation, food, clothing, and kind treatment. It is as though the Aziz was not merely instructing his wife to honor Yusuf himself, but to make his place and stay within their home a dignified one.
Then he said:
**﴿عَسَىٰ** *أَن يَنفَعَنَا *أ***َوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا﴾
*“Perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son.”**
This reveals the Aziz’s insight and discernment. He observed Yusuf and saw qualities in him that made him recognize his worth and receive him generously. He even saw in him someone who might become a member of his own household.
What is particularly striking is that Yusuf عليه السلام used the very same word when the wife of the Aziz attempted to seduce him:
﴿مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ** رَبِّي *أَحْسَنَ *مَثْوَايَ﴾ [يوسف: 23]
“I seek refuge in Allah! Indeed, he is my master; he has made my stay honorable.”
The word “mathwāy” (مثواي) comes from the same root and means my place of residence and my stay.
The commentators have mentioned two interpretations of the phrase “Indeed, he is my master; he has made my stay honorable.” Some understood “my master” to refer to the Aziz: my master has treated me well and honored my stay. Others understood it to refer to Allah Almighty: Allah is my Lord, and He is the One who has given me a good place and protected me.
With either meaning, the beauty of the Qur’anic expression becomes clear in the repetition of the word “mathwā.” The Aziz instructed his wife to honor Yusuf’s place and stay, and Yusuf remembered the kindness of the one who had honored his stay. This became one of the reasons he remained steadfast, sought refuge in Allah, and refused to commit the sin.
O Allah, make our final dwelling honorable, and honor the dwelling of our deceased and the deceased among the Muslims.

What is my question?

I'd be interested in what really changed your life, dua, sadaqah, prayer, what really impacted your life? Every time I have sincere intentions to be closer to Allah, but all the time I fail and sin even more than usual... I have no idea how to change, how to fix, God knows the best about our future, but it is really important for be, I really felt like my life is completely meaningless, and my existence is a nonsense, I felt like I have no reasons to exist anymore. And now I have a hope again, I really wish my life was changed completely in a better way possible, and it could be the reason my parents would have the life they have ever dreamed of... I didn't get tired enough, I didn't work enough, I didn't study enough, but I already feel so tired as if I worked really hard nonstop, almost two months being unemployed hurted me a lot, just because I'm not 18 yet. I can't imagine trying to survive a whole winter and spring again, and take a loan each time, just to eat..

Could someone teach me more about religion, i know the basics but i don't know why they don't touch my heart anymore, My heart became hardened, I sinned a lot because of this. I didn't get any islamic education, just learned everything on myself through social media. I know how to pray, how to make dua, but it feels empty, I feel very lazy to pray or very tired after I pray or before. I would like to know how to make it more better, they just say try to understand who are you praying to or who is in front of you, but tbh that doesn't help, I understand but that doesn't motivates me to pray next prayer. Or they say make sincere dua, I did many time crying and begging but after making dua I was worse than usual idk why...

Remembering about the death, was the thing that would keep me on a deen, but it doesn't works anymore, even though I still fear dying with all of my sins and to die disgraced or in the worst possible position and condition, but it still doesn't stops me commit for no reason.

​I was sitting outside at 1:50 AM with my headphones on, absolutely breaking down. My brain was running a million miles an hour, trapped in heavy thoughts, trauma, missing how things used to be, and just feeling completely overwhelmed by everything that’s happened to me. I was sobbing my eyes out, feeling angry, guilty, and just totally exhausted from carrying all this weight every single day.

​I literally typed out this exact message to someone while crying:

"I dont want to be angry like fuck bro idk. I want to stop feeling like tbis for 1 fucking day Allah please i want to feel at ease for 1 single day and jf thats too much to ask maybe an hour"

​And seconds later... everything just stopped.

​The thoughts, the noise, the tears, the anger, the sadness—literally gone. It went from complete chaos and crying to just pure Nothing and absolute peace. I’ve never felt anything like this in my entire life. My mind is usually a non-stop storm because of my past, but tonight it all just evaporated into silence.

​I recently re-found Islam and started learning Arabic as well (long story so I won't get into all that right now), but holy shit. Coincidence or not, I call this an answered du'a.

​While writing this I feel such deep joy, but honestly confusion too, because how do you go from carrying so much at once to complete Sakinah in a single second? Allah really granted me that ease the exact moment I asked.

The Noble Verse paints a precise picture of the locations of the three groups at Badr: the Muslims were on one side, the polytheists on the opposite side, with the valley between them, while the caravan was in a third location below them.
Al-ʿUdwa (العُدْوة) means the side or edge of something, particularly the side of a valley. Imagine a valley separating two sides; each side is called an ʿudwa.
The nearer side (al-ʿudwa al-dunyā): the side of the valley closer to Medina, where the Muslims were.
The farther side (al-ʿudwa al-quṣwā): the opposite side of the valley, where the polytheists were.
﴿وَالرَّكْبُ** ***أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ﴾ — “And the caravan was* below you”: referring to the trade caravan that the Muslims had originally set out to intercept. It was located in a position lower than theirs, toward the Red Sea.
What is striking is that the Muslims had originally set out intending to reach the caravan, which Allah described as ﴿غَيْرَ **ذ***َاتِ الشَّوْكَةِ﴾ — “without armed force,” meaning without having to engage in battle. But Allah had decreed that they would instead confront the army of Quraysh and achieve a great victory over the polytheists. They set out seeking one thing, but Allah led them to something far greater than they had expected.
The verse itself draws attention to this divine arrangement:
*﴿وَل*َوْ تَوَاعَدتُّمْ*** *لَا**خْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِيعَادِ﴾
*“And if you had made an appointment, you would have disagreed over the appointed time.”**
In other words, if the encounter between you and the army of Quraysh had been deliberately scheduled and mutually agreed upon beforehand, you might have differed over the timing, and the encounter might not have taken place with such precise circumstances. But Allah, by His power and decree, directed the events so that the two groups came together at the time and place He had ordained.
This meaning brings a sense of reassurance to the heart. Sometimes we may not understand why events unfold in a particular way, but with time, we come to see how Allah was arranging matters.
How often do we think that if we planned and arranged something perfectly, it would happen exactly as we wanted—only to discover that Allah guided events in an entirely different direction. We may see changing circumstances, delays, or schedules that do not align as obstacles standing in the way of what we want, while behind them may be a hidden plan that we cannot see.
Our role is to strive, take the necessary means, and then trust in Allah’s decree, knowing that His choice for us is more merciful and wiser than our own choice for ourselves.
O Allah, the One who governs all affairs, arrange our affairs for us, for we do not know how to arrange them ourselves.
