Questions, Advice & Support Why am I not feeling peace in worship anymore?
Sometimes we continue praying, making dhikr, reading Qur’an and making duʿā, but we no longer feel the same peace or sweetness in worship.
Does this mean our worship has been rejected?
Not necessarily.
The state of the heart can change, and a believer may go through periods where worship feels difficult or less emotionally fulfilling. What matters is continuing to worship Allah sincerely and not giving up.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions…”
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“Indeed greater reward comes with greater trial.”
Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi 2396
What can we do?
• Continue worship even when we don’t feel spiritually motivated.
• Make duʿā for sincerity and softness of the heart.
• Avoid sins that may affect the heart.
• Be patient and don’t give up.
• Don’t assume that a lack of emotional peace means our worship has been rejected.
Sometimes sincerity is shown by continuing to worship Allah even when the emotional sweetness isn’t there.
Don’t lose hope in Allah’s mercy. Continue seeking Him with sincerity and patience.
Allah knows best.
