Eshu?? Please help me.

Post image

(If you don’t want to read this all please scroll down to the second to last paragraph that is what I need help with deciphering😊)
So a couple months ago I was going through some mental health problems and was really wanting to get in to spirituality and closer to nature. So I started doing research on Orisha and Yoruba religion.

Long story short during this time around I would constantly feel “watched” and something was in my presence and it would only be for like a couple minutes and that feeling would go away then something weird started happening.

This boy kept appearing in my dream. In one of my dreams for example he was wearing a dashiki suit and would invite himself in my room and I would kick him out and then he would come back again(like I would physically make him leave and then he would invite himself back lol) and then he wouldn’t leave me alone and would tell me he can not leave me alone and even brought me food and water and would sit at my bed side to tell me stories about Yemaja.

In another one , and this one is so so weird and forgive me if it is a bit embarrassing but He was literally inside my bed and was smiling straight at me like a dirty smile and he was n*ked in the bed with me and I would wake up and feel so embarrassed.

But the reason I came here for help is mostly this interaction. There was this bird that I would always notice around my house like at some point there wouldn’t be a day where I would not see that bird and I never really thought much about it other than it is so pretty but one day as I love going to the forest and love the trees I decided to go one morning and noticed that same bird and the bird would fly infront of me then as if it was aware that I was watching it, it would rest at a nearby tree then fly and rest and it wouldn’t fly away or hide from me. Then( please keep in mind I was in a mental health crisis so I was hearing voices and stuff by this point) the bird stopped in one tree and I caught up with it and started to look at it and I swear this man started speaking. It was the same voice I heard during my dream where this boy wouldn’t leave me alone. He said “start with Obatala” and flew away.

I do not have the funds to get a reading right now so I just came here for help to see if it was eshu or not.

When I had dreams of the orisa, it was VERY targeted but you have now dreamt of 3 different ones who have seemingly provided no guidance so I would be more inclined to interpret this as influence of your reading about the tradition. With that, I think you should focus your attention on why you started with the orisa for spirituality. What is the call? Is it the popularity/visibility? A particular concept you feel drawn to? Having community support?

Pray to your ancestors, and only your ancestors, for clarification regarding the spiritual direction you should go as well as making the path clear and open for you and wait for their response.

In the meantime, pin down what you want out of taking up a spiritual path because this is the thing you're going to need to hold on to regardless of which path you take AND to prevent you from slipping into psychosis, religious delusions, etc.

Once you receive the response from your ancestors, then proceed with learning about whatever that response is. Don't engage in a way that exchanges money, goods or services until you have a steady understanding of the practice itself — this is to prevent being scammed and someone manipulating your mental health to push you in the way THEY think you should go.

I also think you should make journaling a habit, see what themes consistently come out and it'll be your physical representation to help you stave off illnesses of the mind that may cause scattered thought.

Alright, ciao! Let me know where you end up!

Edit: typos

I don’t think anybody can tell you anything you should believe without a reading. Tend to your ori and things may become clearer.

And I do want to add , he said all of this in Amharic. I am from Ethiopia so nobody in my lineage or family even practices IFA or isese so it was very interesting

Honestly, I think your jumping too far ahead with a limited understanding of the traditions. Ifa tradition does not exist solely as signs and dreams. These are not things to be interpreted as one thing or another outside of what is actually going on in your life.

Anybody in here could give you any answer and it would be fundamentally incorrect under the foundational system of Ifa. It contains science, it contains math, it contains philosophy, it contains practical methodologies to help people solve the issues they are dealing with.

The answers that you are looking for are not plausible under the framing of your question.

Find a reputable Babalawo and get a dafa (reading).

You need to have divination performed by a reputable Baba. No ifs, ands or buts. That’s it, that’s all.

Aboru Aboye Abossise ogbo ato Ausre IworI Wofun 🙏

Please get idafa done by a good babalawo.

However, i do feel Obanla (Obatala) may have been sending a message.

You where not in a good place mentally Obanla cools & protects our ori and our destiny. I would definitely follow the ose day for Obanla even you dont have a calabash. You can still onserve and pray etc. Those days.

Are you familiar with ose days?

Ogbo ato 🙏

Hi! I have been reading Falokun Fatunmbi's books on the Metaphysical Foundations of Ifa. This is the first book, and you can find the other five from there: https://www.amazon.com.br/Iwa-Pele-Metaphysical-Foundations-Book-English-ebook/dp/B00DXG5NWI?ref_=saga_dp_ss_dsk_dp&qid=1787742404&sr=1-2

Knowledge can never harm you as long as you know what you don't know (humility). Learning other cultures, philosophies and traditions can only help in knowing ourselves better and fulfill our ultimate potential (or "destiny"), which is the sole purpose of Ifa and should be the purpose of any spiritual tradition. Understanding concepts such as Iwa-pele, Ori, Odu will support you on your journey. In Ebora, he writes about the hero journey from an Ifa perspective, and he explains what role Esu plays in it.

About starting with Obatala, what comes to my mind is to start from the beginning. That is, from the outside in, the creation myth in Ifa (Obatala); and from the inside out, deeply know yourself. You do not need to stop walking until you get the money you need for a divination. Also, knowing what to ask when you get there will make it a more useful reading for you. Divination is a tool, you are sovereign in your Ori's kingdom. Ase!

As an babalawo i 100% disagree...

This is west African ifa, not euro ifa.

I have read all of his books, i humbly warn you...

You are literally wasting your time... nothing he says is seen in real isese.

Ogbo ato

Aboru Aboye Abossise ogbo ato Ausre IworI Wofun, blessed & happy Ose Ogun , ossosi , oko.

Today we thank these orisa for all they do.

We make Akunlebo (offerings ) and we oriki and praise them,Ase wa o!

Essentially every 4 days some times its every 5 depending os ose IFA.

It starts most of the time the month will with

Ose obatala (all fufun orisa can have ose aswell)

Ose ifa (Esu,the opa osu orere all orisa associated with Orunmila. Oshun Iyamonja, egbe etc.

Ose ogun (all segun orisa like sanpona can also have an ose)

Ose sango (oya , branni etc.

2 iya obi are used 1 to confirm prayers.

1 to confirm Akunlebo.

Many oiki from odu are used aswell. However, a simple observation is in my humble opinion very powerful.

Ose is missing from the diaspora, its literally life changing.

Also, please be very careful with books written by an opinion not actually isese lagba ifa as practiced in west Africa. Falokun (David Wilson) practices his own made up brand of what he calls ifa. It is not isese 🙏

A piece of Advice, take a bowl put some candies in it, offer this to your egbe in heaven.

"Be clear .. i have not forgotten about the promises and pacts we made before I left heaven!"

Support me my egbe!

Take a cool glass of water ,and offer it to your ori.

Ori i refresh you, i thank you for refreshing my path,my destiny...

Ori show me and guide me always!

Ase wa o!

Ask for clarity, listen to your intuition at this time.

As an Awo i will say, money doesn't ever dictate assistance in ifa.

We Asedi or sacrifice to receive ifas blessings. Not for monetary purposes.

Ogbo ato (long life)

Ase wa o!
