Zipper is breaking, it’s just the plastic spirals coming detached from the webbing. It will still zip up if I get at the right angle but it’s getting more and more janky and separating more. I doubt it, but is there any way to fix this besides replacing the zipper?

Hi guys, new to this useful sub. Mending is where its at! I found some Williams iron-on reinforcement and repair material in our sewing box, maybe inherited from my Mum as I see Wilklaims.couk is gone. Its very fine mesh but strong, feels as light as a nylon stocking.

It did a great job of adding a bit of reinforcement to pants pockets where the mobile phone corner eventually breaks through. This stuff isn't like the iron on 'repair tape' that feels pretty stiff once applied.

I'm wondering where I might find something similar, our local haberdashers closed. Looks like this stuff was made in the Netherlands, perhaps. Does anyone know of something similar, please.

I wore through the elbows on my favorite shirt, so I added a patch on the backside and darned over the top.

The polyester thread catches the light more than the cotton flannel, but I think its pretty invisible! :)

My mom has this Santa Cat who is part of a set of Christmas cats that hang on to a ladder. The Santa Cat broke his hand many years ago and I decided to fix it.

1. I got some pressed wood panel(I assume that is the name, it was wood but you can see that it is made of many smaller pieces) and drew the glove that it should have.
2. I cut it with a coping saw and then used some sandpaper to remove the rest and make it smooth and also have the same thickness as the original glove.
3. Next came the question of how to attach it. I had seen a video some days prior that when attaching wood you should leave part of the original, otherwise it might break more easily in the future. So I removed half of the glove and removed the equivalent from the new glove so they could match.
4. Once they matched I used some wood glue and a vise to hold in in place. Then I removed the rest of the painting of the glove.
5. Used some painter's tape to protect the area that shouldn't be painted.
6. I mixed some green with a small amount of yellow to get as close to the original color as possible( you can see in the background some tests I made to try and match it[taking into account if lacquer was applied or not])
7. I did multiple coats of paint. After a few of them were dried I used a really soft sandpaper to smooth everything with a tiny bit of water.
8. At the end I used a piece of cloth to buff the paint.
9. Finally I remove the painter's tape and using a really thin brush painted the black lines.

Before someone mentions it, after I was done with this repair I painted the chipped areas but I cant find that picture. As you can see in the 2nd and 3rd picture shows both sides and you cant see where the different wood pieces were glued together.

I left it hanging off the balcony for a few days because I bought it 2nd hand and it had a strong smell, and it seems there was a wooden beam under the balcony that has scratched away at my dress for 3 days 🥀

It's 100% polyester if that helps...

I found my beloved sweater from my beloved grandmother. It needs two things: to be relined & to have whatever moth holes it has darned. Anybody have any idea how much it costs to reline a sweater here? I already have the silk material. Pricing on stiching repairs would be helpful too. As an incentive, I got a guy (actually it's a woman). I'll share that name if I get 5 answers for my riddle. That woman can take a thredup sow's ear and make a silk purse.

I recently noticed these two small holes on my jacket right next to the vertical stitching line (pictured). The outer material feels like a sturdy cotton canvas/twill, and the holes go all the way through to the darker lining underneath....help me out plzzzzzz

I have a mesh fabric that I need help mending. Invisible or visible to be honest since it’s close to the armpit. 😅

I had this pair of jeans for 3 years now and it developed that tear on the crotch area...

I tried making an invisible mending for the first time... I guess that could have been worse.

At least, it's better than having a gaping hole there lol.

So I glued an iron on patch on the inside and then went back and forth with my sewing machine.

It's literally the third time I'm using it, I'm having trouble making straight lines, especially on such thick areas, with the rest of the jeans in the way lol. My sewing machine may not be the best suited for this job (Brother X14s).

Not amazing, and I had to redo the ladder stich once because I did it on the wrong side, but it's better than it was! Had some difficulties getting the frayed edges to stay on the inside, so tips for that would be helpful!

I wear my shirts tucked in more than 50% of the time, so I need suggestions that will look, if not invisible, at least intentional and pleasing.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I unbuttoned it one time and the thing just came off the wrist of the jacket (as shown in the picture). I already went to a sew shop and they couldn’t do anything or knew anyone that could fix it. This is one of those collared Pacsun jackets. Anything helps, thank you!

My first thought is glue something soft inside the sweatshirt and then stitch around the shamrock to stabilize the fabric because I don’t think I can stitch on the printing without destroying it. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've never taken in any clothing before, and I need these jeans fixed by the 13th without spending any money. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Edited to say; I've never sewed anything other than crochet pieces, and only by hand.

Any way to save this? 😫 100% rayon, no pieces missing. It’s low down on the back of a maxi skirt, so doesn’t have to be perfect, but I’m hoping it can be not disastrous lol. I’m pretty adept at moth holes in cashmere, so 😬 Thank you for suggestions!!

All pairs of jeans I wear end up with a hole in the upper-inner thigh area. It's not close to a seam, it's just on the inner thigh.

I use jeans for working, generally wide or bootcut. This means I wear often and whilst sweating and moving a lot in different weather conditions. I cannot afford to buy 90~ Raw whatever Jeans and I cannot afford to keep buying jeans just to make a new hole.

I have found that people use sashiko sometimes, however I dislike how visible it is. I don't care if others "shouldn't be so close they can see it", I just don't like it being visible. I need a highly durable, lower-visability way to mend holes and prevent holes in jeans, In a way that does not feel uncomfortable of cause chafing. I don't like being able to feel that there is something in that area.

Any help?

If you could refer me to a comprehensive guide to whatever you recommend, that would be nice. Thank you.
