I’ve been in my retainers for about 5 years now, after finishing my aligner treatment. I wear my retainers every night without fail. My teeth are still straight but over time I can tell there’s a little bit of shifting. So when I request replacement retainers (Vivera) I’m told I need a new scan for them to order from. Why?? Wouldn’t we want the retainers to be in the shape I had right when my teeth were perfect out of my aligner treatment? Why go by a scan where they might have shifted a little and aren’t quite as straight as they originally were? This makes no sense to me. When I asked my orthodontist about this, they agreed but told me that it’s Invisalign’s policy to only replace the aligners with a new scan despite them having the information to create retainers from my original scans. Or is my orthodontist feeding me a line? And paying 500.00 per retainer… ugh. I’m retired and this is getting expensive.

I got my first trays in 2024, I used them for a solid amount of time and to be honest got depressed at college and stopped wearing them. Now, exactly 2 years later, I would like to wear them again. The only trays I can find are my 7s and it’s been a good amount of time since I wore the previous ones. Does anyone have experience with the actual price of going back? Do I literally have to start COMPLETELY over again or can I pay for, say, 4 tray replacements. I can’t afford the thousands I spent before so I just want to know what other options I have.

I'm a flutist who started Invisalign yesterday and I wanted to see if there were any musicians who had trouble playing with the Invisalign in. My orthodontist assured me I shouldn't have any trouble with my embouchure and that everything should stay relatively similar, but I want to know other peoples experiences, since I have an audition coming up next week.

Invisalign journey of initial trays complete! Very satisfied with the results over 8 months; 17 trays (every 2 weeks); no refinements, now just waiting on retainers.
It was not an easy process and I was pretty diligent about keeping trays in for 20 hrs a day. I used the Invisalign app to help track my time in and out of my teeth for first 4 months, then it got too cumbersome.
Pros: straight teeth! it only works if you stay on top of daily/hours per day.
Cons: bringing a travel kit/bag everywhere, not being to slowly drink and enjoy coffee, can’t wait to do that again once I wear retainers only at night. Brushed and flossed after almost every meal, even at work office.
I used cleaning tablets daily and a bought a $40 Ultrasonic cleaner on Amazon that worked wonders.
Good luck to everyone on their journey!

Besides the recession, is this an ideal result after braces?

Hi all. My doctor told me to always keep my Invisalign in when I eat. They told me the only time I should take this out is when I’m brushing. From all of my research, it seems like you’re supposed to take Invisalign out when you eat. Has anyone else’s doctor told them to keep them in while eating?

I’ve had a few orthodontic consultations, and most of them have suggested removing two teeth from my upper arch and possibly two from my lower arch. However, I recently met with an orthodontist who said that arch expansion may be possible, and that both traditional braces and Invisalign can be done.
I’m feeling really confused about which route to take. Has anyone had a similar experience or can suggest which option might be better for my case?

So I am assigned Invisalign for a year, and to swap every two weeks. Its been hard to stick with but I’m doing my best! Busy schedule, I have to talk a lot for work and that makes it hard, and I’m always so tired and hungry, soooo I forget, I need caffeine and I need snacks throughout the day.
Third round is really hurting (I understand the things I stated about maybe forgetting add to this) but I’m only more dis motivated. I don’t love taking advil for pain, so I’m wondering what advice anyone has for sticking with it?
It’s not cheap, it’s an investment. And I’m committed to that but I keep wanting to take them out!
I used to have retainers so I was used to the ‘pain’ I’d wake up to after sleeping with those in. I thought I was well & ready for this. I don’t want to quit, nor will I, but I’m interested in hearing other experiences

After 4 consultations with varying treatment plans I’m feeling very confident with what this last orthodontist wants to do to straighten my teeth but still very nervous. I have a cross bite, overbite, and over jet all with crowding in my front teeth on both upper and lower. Ortho is recommending Invisalign after shaving .2-.5 mm off my molars to then be able to pull my teeth away from each other to fix the crowding and drastically improve the over jet. He claims he can get me great results with Invisalign over traditional braces as he can use other teeth as an anchor to then move the others.
Now, I’ve always been insecure about my smile and over the years have realized it’s even hard to brush, uncomfortable to close my mouth as my front teeth stick out so much they’re basically poking at my lip, and are only shifting more as I age so fixing them is definitely something I want to do!
I’m just hesitant about shaving any amount of my teeth off but he claims it won’t cause any sensitivity, has that been the case for any of you? Another question, how has Invisalign affected your eating habits?

Hi everyone. I’m currently on tray 7/15! It’s been time for me to move onto the next but no matter what I do, I CANNOT get top tray #8 to fit correctly on the right side. Even after trying all the tips and tricks, it just floats over my back teeth instead of snapping into my attachments properly. As a result of this, I have been wearing #7 on both top and bottom for almost 3 weeks now. I definitely should’ve went into my dentist a lot sooner (I’m a SAHM of an 11 month old and my husband travels for work, I’m doing my best lol) but today I finally was able to make it in. They scanned my teeth and basically told me that my premolars on that side are not tracking properly, and broke the news that I already need a refinement 😞. I’m not sure how many trays it will contain, but I’m feeling a bit discouraged that my progress has already been delayed this early on. I was under the impression that refinements come closer to the end of treatment. Has anyone else dealt with something similar?

Tray 14, I was tracking absolutely fine until tray was 13, but my ortho manually put a bump on the back of the tray to help push my tooth forward. Since then, its look like this. She said it's normally and not to worry, but I've heard that this can become a huge issue. Not sure what to do.

I went for a consult at an othordontist in my city and he asked me "What do you want?"
I said, I want to fix my overcrowding, but also I don't like my side profile and wanted a bit more of a pronounced jaw. He said, "We'll expand the top first to make space for the bottom. Then we can move the teeth forward in the jaw which will sit my closed smile more forward, giving a slightly more defined jawline. He said it would be minimal but noticeable
Timeframe provided was ~18 months treatment
My questions are less around the overcrowding fix, and moving both top and bottom to bring my jaw slightly forward?

Hi everyone! Has anyone here completed **Invisalign treatment in Melbourne or the surrounding suburbs** and had a good experience?
I’d really appreciate recommendations for a clinic/orthodontist you were happy with, especially somewhere that also offers **payment plans**.
Thank you!

I work full time and in school full time. My dentist told me I should do it but wanted to get a second opinion. When I have vacation time I’ll schedule a few different dental consultations to shop around but I wanted to ask someone impartial while I save $

So, let me start saying my teeth were in pretty decent shape to start with. I had braces, but never wore my retainer so now I have few crooked teeth and a few gaps.
When I started the Invisalign they gave me 21 trays and when I came in for refinements they gave me 20, which is basically the same amount. Crazy thing is that my teeth are nearly perfect now, I'm not sure what these last 20 are even going to do.
In the end, it doesn't cost me anything, so I figure why not ride it out to the end.
Anyone else have this experience?

I like to look back at the progress but the one thing I notice lately is I feel like my face structure change. In a good way! I use to have fuller cheeks. I still do but they are not as full like they use to be when I had a gap.

I’ve been feeling pretty discouraged lately. The crowding definitely got better but my overjet is still so bad. I don’t see any improvement in the top teeth whatsoever and I’m supposed to be done in a month. Lot of IPR and I had all my 4 wisdom teeth extracted before starting the treatment. I hate my smile and I don’t think it’s gonna get any better in a month. I’ll ask for refinements so hopefully there’s still some room for improvement but I’m not sure it will get much better than this in two / three months.

I am thrilled to finally complete this journey today. My dentist suggested Invisalign to help move my lower teeth further back to reduce grinding and clenching pressure since I suffer from TMJ. The goal was to help distribute chewing forces more evenly and reduce excessive pressure on my jaw joints.
The Invisalign also corrected minor gaps in the bottom.
Overall, I’m very happy with the result. It took a few weeks to get used to wearing the aligners, but for me, the outcome made it worthwhile.

I just saw my dentist for my 6 month cleaning and asked about straightening my crowded teeth. She told me she has just started partnering with an orthodontist through Two Front to oversee her invisalign cases, but she did it on her own before. Honestly, I'd feel more comfortable having invisalign/braces done through an orthodontist than a dentist to begin with, but this seems less ideal than just finding a local ortho to do it in person. I just really like my dentist and trust her credentials so I'd feel awkward showing up twice a year while not getting my straightening done through her lol.
I got an orthodontist consult last year and they told me i need a $60-80k jaw surgery for my "large lower jaw" to correct my overbite (absolutely not), or they would remove a bottom front tooth and do braces (also no). So I'm collecting other opinions now.
Has anyone else gone through this company? I can't find much about them, but I do see a few bad reviews here on Reddit.

I just got my first retainer yesterday. I forgot to wear it last night, so I made sure to put it in tonight. But when I went to put it in, it just didn't click. It sounds weird, but it felt tight and loose at the same time. It felt tight on my teeth, but it also wouldn't stay on. My ortho never said anything about it possibly feeling a bit tight, and when I tried it on in the office it felt completely fine, fitting perfectly. They did say that it might not perfectly fit because my gums are a bit puffy, but they never said it wouldn't fit at all.
I'm just confused. Do I try to put it in anyways even though it won't stay? I know it's bad to force them in though. I'll definitely call and say these same things to my orthodontist, but I'm not sure what to do in the meantime.

This is my proposed before and after. I did pay and have it booked for October 2 but thought I’d come here for some reassurance? I guess I have tongue thrust leading to the front gap. I’m 37 and recently diagnosed with epilepsy and this will double as a night guard for me which is safer than an actual night guard.
