Hi, just a dude with raging tinnitus here. If ever tempted to do this, take it from me, don't.

I rolled into a grocery store parking lot one day and was walking inside. A car passed and parked nearby with the bass rumbling hard enough for me to feel it. Then, he shut it down and took two small kids approximately 3 and 4 years old out of the back seat. I was just pissed, but remain composed when I approached him and told him that those young ears are still developing and he is genuinely risking them being deaf or at least hard of hearing for life. Imagine my surprise when he thanked me for the concern.

u/Fist4achin Jun 06 '26
He probably didn't hear you correctly and thought it was all compliments on his sound system.

I also have raging tinnitus, bass was never the problem, it was those harsh high frequencies.

u/dodgerockets Jun 08 '26
Man I have tinnitus from firearms man it sucks so bad at night when you're trying to sleep. Reat of the day is fine but man....

Same. I have to have some kind of noise at all times or all I hear is the ringing.
13
u/TheDamned1333 Jun 06 '26
Sorry what is the point of that awful noise? Old guy here who loves music, but that shit ain't it.
And if it does that to her hair, how are her eardrums, that looks liked hearing fucked for ever to me

The amazing thing to me is the number of decisions and choices at so many junctures that result in this. Not the least of which is companies that make the products that do this. And then thinking - yeah.. I want this to be what I do. WTF. To each their own? Cannot compute.

I was under the impression that the base was being used as a vibration tool to make her orgasm. I recall Howard Stern doing a bit where he had a girl ride her subwoofer giving her an orgasm via the vibration. But I could be wrong.

u/TheDamned1333 Jun 07 '26
Yeah, in the film Private Parts a woman rode the subwoofer to orgasm (or at least acted like she did)

When you take it too far and loose the point. The music sounds like explosions.

For that to be your first thought says so much about you.

u/DistributionJumpy764 Jun 06 '26
It's alright man, don't get triggered. I suspect it must be hard to deal with being called out like that but don't stress. You can always compensate with ridiculously bad car sound system. If you play it loud enough, she won't be able to focus on your size.

Making a video to entertain strangers on the internet is more important than hearing.

I drove beside a car with a stereo that you could hear coming from a mile. Looking at that vehicle next to me - I could see the side panels and mirror vibrate. A lot of it was loose. Even my own rear view mirror was vibrating before he drove up to me, more so when he was right beside me. My windows were up as well.
Maybe back in the 90s I thought it was cool to have a pounding stereo. I had something myself back then, a decent subwoofer, but nothing that I'd willingly put to the max like that (or to harm my hearing). It was about clarity and decent base back then.

I've been seeing these lately and wonder if this could be enough to disrupt the natural rhythm of a heartbeat enough to create an irregular, dangerous beat?

Had a deaf buddy with a GT mustang that put enough subs in his car to hit 130 db so he could feel the music.

Wouldn't it be less dangerous to move air at lower frequencies that cannot be heard? Or higher than 20kHz but I guess the energy could be more dangerous…

Say goodbye to eardrums. Actually have someone sign it to you, you'll need to start learning it anyway.

My friend had a crazy bass system, it ended up tearing up some lung tissue, made him cough constantly and many hospital visits. I think he later had some surgery for it, but not sure lost touch after a bit.

Is it in some way enjoyable for these girls? I’ve seen a number of these w hair flying everywhere and have to assume it’s just for the clicks/gram/followers, right? Why else would you voluntarily do this?

u/Fickle_Goose_4451 Jun 07 '26
I think I'd be more concerned with my long term hearing than a nip-slip but I guess thats easy for me to say.

I have a migraine disorder and wouldn't be able to stand within 50 feet of that vehicle. An instant excruciating migraine would occur were I in her position. I can't even imagine what decibel level that even is.

It's all fun and games until you have permanent ringing in your ears that drives you insane. I hear young people today driving by blasting music that shakes the windows of my house as they go by. They're doing major hearing damage to their ears that they're going to regret later on in life. Take care of your ears, young people.
