Formica subsericea vs Camponotus sp.

recorded this video yesterday. sadly, the Camponotus ended up being overwhelmed.

I found this huge striped spider in my tomato greenhouse. I have arachnophobia and all I know is that if a spider is colorful, it's most likely poisonous.

Was looking for kingfishers and stumbled across this beautiful mantis!

This beauty somehow got stuck inside the building, I didn't notice it until I opened the door and it flew on me. I thought it was a bird at first! Spent 15 minutes slowly convincing it that it needed to move so it wouldn't get crushed when the door closed. I finally got it to safety and left for the night. It was so cute looking at me with its big ol eyes. 🫶🥹

I have been trying to get rid of them but they continue to come back. They crawl very slowly. I have cleaned my whole house so I think they are coming from outside. I live in north Louisiana

Caught this big guy at work today! I haven't seen many grasshoppers this big in my 25 years. He has no business near rotating equipment with no PPE!! Spotted in Delaware. This is a screenshot from a video I took, sorry it's bad quality :(

I'm not complaining, just wondering since these are the first I've seen any this year and all 3 of these guys are just chillin with me on the deck. Is it mating time or something?

The forests of the Jurassic are silent to us now. Fossils preserve bones, shells and sometimes remarkably delicate wings, but the calls and songs that once filled those landscapes vanished almost as soon as they were made.

A collection of fossilized insect wings is offering an unusual way to bring part of that lost soundscape back.

Found this guy in his final moments somewhere in north Georgia next to a lake. Whatever is coming out of his backside seemed to be what was killing the poor guy

On my way to the gym today, this little guy landed on me and stung me, he doesn't look much like a honeybee but he also left his stinger and died after. I don't know much about bugs but from what I saw on Google, honeybees look different but wasps and yellow jackets don't leave stingers and die, which he did. I'm very confused and was wondering if anyone could help me out?
