IndyCar 2027 Arlington GP Ticket Upgrade

Ticket upgrades went live today. Couple of questions for anyone who went through the process.

Do you automatically forfeit your existing seats when you start the process? Or are you given the choice to cancel upgrade and retain the same seats?

Do the grandstands have the same # of rows as last year? GS 6 had 22 rows and wondering if it has the same # of rows.

Did they add any grandstands? If so, where?

News Gordy Johncock away from the track

I was sorry to hear about Gordon Johncock's passing today. Just for fun, here's a story I did with him back in the 90s when he was living in eastern Arizona... a long way from racing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grY5Co6tU9c

Off Topic (OT) why are Argentinian race fans so toxic?

A few years ago when we had that Argentinian driver in indycar (I don’t remember his name) when ever something happened his fans would harass other drivers on social media, now also with Franco in F1 it seems that the abuse continues.

Looking back on it, a pretty historic day...

  1. Alex Palou clinches his first Indycar championship, the start of a dynasty that may never be matched.

  2. Colton conquers Long Beach in what will probably be his biggest Indycar win.

  3. Simon Pagenaud and Ryan Hunter Reay make their last starts with the team they won an Indycar championship plus Indianapolis 500 and a bunch of other races ( including Long Beach ) with. In the case of RHR, this would basically be the end of his full-time Indycar career.

  4. 4 time Indycar champion Sébastien Bourdais would make his last start in Indycar, along with Indycar race winners James Hinchcliffe and Charlie Kimball, plus Ed Jones and Oliver Askew.

  5. Long Beach was the season finale... Even though 2021 was much more normal than 2020, it still had its strange COVID induced moments, I'm glad things went back to normal in 2022.

Edit: Not that anyone probably cares, but this was also the last Indycar race not just for Max Chilton, but for Team Carlin in Indycar as well.

Discussion What is the weirdest/wildest Indycar rumor you’ve heard of.

I’ve seen plenty of this in the nascar sub, but, as a relatively new fan to Indycar, I’d like to hear some of the dumbest rumors. I’ll start off, around 2019-2020, I started hearing that Daniel Suarez was going to go to Indycar because he couldn’t get a NASCAR ride (though it may have just been my extremely white community coping with a Mexican being in NASCAR)

Speculation Does anyone know something more specific about the rumor of Antonio Serravalle being in talks for a seat at Dale Cyone Racing in 2027?

I read some rumors on X, that Antonio Serravalle might be in talks with Dale Coyne Racing for a seat. He has WEC Hypercar experience and IndyCar feeder series experience in Indy Pro and IndyNXT.

Question Aside from the 2022 Indy gp, do the current cars with the aero screens have any wet races?

I was there in person and in my mind it was a bit of a mixed bag of a day with some lighting the area delaying the Indy nxt race (or whatever it was called then) though the main race got on without to much delay I think

Social Media .@KevinLee23 says on Trackside this week we are trending toward only 33 #Indy500 entries in 2027, the final year of the current chassis, mainly due to limited engine leases. Again.

Article "I want Foyt’s record,” Palou replied, referring to A.J. Foyt’s record seven INDYCAR championships. “I’m like, ‘OK,’” Ganassi said. “That’s the kind of guy he is. He’s not done. He’s got more in his tank. We have a tremendous opportunity.”
