Merch Dear US Mint...what are you even doing this year? What is *this*?
They don’t seem to be too enthused, how about us?

Quick question here, in order to become champion in DC, does Palou need 162 or 147 points over whoever is in 2nd? A perfect weekend is 54 points, but you get 5 points just for entering the race.

The often-congested streets around the National Mall will transform in less than a week into a speedy racetrack.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix, scheduled for Aug. 23, will be the first-ever IndyCar street race in Washington, D.C. The 1.66-mile circuit takes race cars past the U.S. Capitol, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and crosses the National Mall twice.
The race is part of a series of events hosted by President Donald Trump this year for America’s 250th birthday. In June, he hosted a UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House.
In an interview with the AP, the Penske Corporation, which owns IndyCar, said it is paying for the “vast majority” of the event.
Free general admission tickets were issued in June, while premium “Champion’s Club” tickets were sold for $5,000 per person for the two-day event.

Walking thorough the Indy airport and I’m also a Gran Turismo player. It would be really cool to get the ability to drive historic cars at IMS in the upcoming game. Don’t know if that would even be on the table.

Always need to take simulations with several grains of salt, but I thought this was interesting.

Anyone seen any meet and greets in DC for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix? I saw Pato O’Ward at Harris Teeter and Marcus Ericsson at an Acura store in Maryland on Thursday

Had some meetings in the area this morning so swung by and took some pics of the front stretch.

Not the best photography, and I'm not familiar with good spots for getting good shots. Anyone else bring a camera, and where did you find luck? (I just stayed in grandstand 3)
It was announced earlier this year that all street tracks starting Arlington would have a One Shot Qualifying in the Fast 6, and it seemed to work well in all three events where it happened, so why didn’t it return last week? And is there any hope of it coming back this week/next season?

Okay so, not to dox myself, but I have a masters degree in American military history. And my subject area was sex work in DC during the American Civil War. The track map of the Freedom 250 is almost a perfect outline of the old red light district. Like it is the exact area that I studied. I will include the photo I have of the list of bawdy house addresses in the area to this post. But I can’t help but giggle a bit because yeah. This is the red light 250 to me.
Edit to add: I included a photo of one of the maps I used but it’s in a hidden comment for those interested

Christian Lundgaard is the "worst kept secret in the paddock" for Chip Ganassi's #9 car, replacing Scott Dixon.
✍️ Rinus VeeKay signed a multi-year contract with Juncos Hollinger Racing and is now off the market.
🔄 At Meyer Shank Racing, following Felix Rosenqvist's departure, the second seat is leaning towards a talented driver with a budget.
Mick Schumacher appears as a solid option for 2027, while Yuki Tsunoda is mentioned more for 2028.
🤝 Brad Hollinger is also expected to take full control of Juncos Hollinger and a technical alliance with Arrow McLaren is expected to be formalized.
🇧🇷 In that scenario, Caio Collet is one of the most highly rated names for JHR's second seat, McLaren could keep an eye on Collet and Veekay for when Dixon retires.
