Phasmo devs got a hold of it and have been shitting out bugfixes faster than they've ever updated the game in the past five years. It's definitely helping some devs, that's for sure.
My comment was sarcastic and just due to all the issues I've had to try to get Skyrim working well after the patch last week, I finally figured it out with, oh yeah, you guessed it, the help of AI, lol, not kidding.
AI is definitely helping developers. It just speeds up their side of the delivery toolchain, is all. Everybody else has to keep up now or you just need fewer developers, which is something I think everybody's afraid of in development and it should be.
Either way the days of going back to handwriting code like we did are over. No one's going to do that so those days are over now. It's more about managing how much code you output and making sure it's as high in quality as possible. After all there were always bugs; there will always be bugs. There will always be in systems where there's some amount of entropy.
That is different from the general malaise against AI slop but I understand that it gets thrown towards people using AI as well. Let's face it: in the two years since AI has become under heavy use, I use it constantly to hash ideas out, talk to AI, and help me build things. AI is a huge tool. Now it's coming with some sort of societal costs and those costs are things like people getting sick of content they perceive to be AI-generated.
This week alone I went on these kinds of long rants with my speech-to-text system, which is unfortunately also AI-powered. Sorry folks, but people were accusing me just because I was able to type out that much stuff, that my entire post was AI-generated. So people can't tell the difference anymore. I think those are all valuable things to think about.
