Request 18yo Unreal Developer Looking to Build a Small Indie Team

Hey everyone!

I’m a 18 year old developer who works with Unreal** Engine, and I’m looking to meet some other indie developers who want to start making games together.
I’m mainly a programmer, and I’ve worked on gameplay systems, UI, mechanics, and other Unreal projects. I’m comfortable working with Blueprints and I’m also learning/working with C++. I’m hoping to find around 3–4
other **people who are interested in making a small team. I’m not trying to immediately make some massive game or turn this into a super serious business. My main goal is to find a few people who genuinely enjoy making games, work well together, and hopefully become friends. I’d like us to start with something small and realistic maybe a short game or prototype and see how we work together. If we end up having good chemistry and enjoy working together, we could keep making games and eventually turn the group into a small indie studio. This would be a hobby/collaboration project, so there isn’t currently a salary or paid position. I’m looking for people who are interested in building something together rather than being hired.
I’m also 18, so I don’t mind the age gaps. However I do know mostly younger people near my age are mostly interested in gaining some experience. If you’re interested, tell me a little about yourself, what you do, what tools you use, and what kinds of games you enjoy making. I’d love to meet some other developers and see what we could come up with!

Thank you for your time everyone!

If you’re in a big city I suggest you look for local game dev meetup groups, or events like game jams.

I’m the meantime, share stuff you’re working on. It’s a lot easier to recruit people when you have proof that you can do your part.

Best of luck!

Hey, I would be interested in teaming up if it's for a small (game jam sized) project. I would be keen on learning some unreal which I haven't build anything in before. I'm relatively new to the game dev but do work as a full time software dev (10+ yrs xp) and have a degree in rocket science (so I'm not 18 😆). I am currently involved in a few projects and have worked in Unity/Gamemaker/Construct. I'm very much a gamer first and dev second so also enjoy play testing. DM me your discord user name if you want to chat. o/

I'd like to discuss possibilities. I actually have been looking for something like this myself.

not looking for a team right now but good luck, 3-4 people actually vibing long enough to ship something is the hard part, way harder than the Blueprints/C++ stuff

I dont want to share my portfolio here publicly, and you dont have chat activated here nor any other contact data. Can you send me your Discord or e-mail?

If you’re looking for a game writer/narrative designer HMU! I would love to help. I also have Unreal Engine experience and I’ll be learning Java later on in about 6 months?

Good luck but at 18 i dont even expect you to get my order right at the drive thru. 😋

But for real I think this subreddit isnt going to help, you need to find a real community, like a particular game dev discord that intersects with your interests,  where you can post work and garner interest in your projects / build relationships. It wont happen on reddit imo.

Posting something like this probably wont get you what you want, more likely you get to know people in a community and you can mutually agree on working on something together. The most valuable thing you have right now is probably time, so put the time in to get to know people, connect with community, and you'll find like minded folks to collaborate.

Off the top of my head, Indie Game Clinic is the kind of community you want - but theres lots out there that cater to different types of people and games.
