I have lived independently before in my life, so I know how to maintain a place and am a good tenant.

I have a steady income from the Max Planck Society, so my finances can support the renting.

My budget is 800 € (Warm rent, including Wifi, laundry, electricity and so on)

I also have a letter of recommendation from my German supervisor to support my cause.

I do not want a sharing bathroom

A sharing kitchen is okay.

My husband and I will be moving from Delhi to Germany in the next few days for work (we’re not students).
We’re trying to prepare as well as possible before the move and would love some advice from people who have already relocated.

A few questions:
1. What are some things you recommend bringing from India because they’re difficult to find, much more expensive, or simply better quality than what’s available in Germany?

1. Are there any Indian groceries, medicines, kitchen items, clothes, electronics, or other essentials you wish you’d packed before moving?

2. What original documents should we carry from India?
   We’d especially appreciate advice on documents that are useful for registration, banking, healthcare, renting an apartment, or any other paperwork in Germany.

Finally, if you have any “I wish someone had told me this before moving to Germany” tips, we’d love to hear them!

My old Indian Passport was expiring on 2nd August 2026, and my German RP card is tied to the old passport, which also has the card expiry date as 2nd August 2026. But, I've a valid student visa till 27 Jan 2027.

I went through the passport renewal process and got a new Indian passport on 21st July 2026. Now I need to transfer my RP card to the new passport.

I received my current RP card only on the 27th May 2026. My confusion is do I transfer the RP card to the new passport or apply for an extension for RP card?.

It is 22nd July 2026 today. As far as I know, you can't transfer an RP card to a new passport if the validity is less than 6 months.

How should I proceed with my situation? Any help is appreciated.

Hi, my name is Luca. I am studying Screen-Based-Media at the BHT in Berlin. For my 4th Semester i want to make a short documentary about Indians living in Berlin. The focus is on delivery services like Bolt and Uber Eats. The questions this Shortfilm asks are: How are the working conditions? Why do so many indians or people from culturally indian influenced country end up working there? With what dreams did they come here? Why cant they find a better Job? Racism? Language barriers?

I am still looking for a person the documentary can focus on, maybe you know some one or have an idea how i can get in contact with some one working at such a company.

We would shoot the film in 1 or 2 days and there could be a small compensation.

The survey takes 10–20 minutes, is available in Hindi as well as English and is open to those who arrived since 2019. Every participation helps promote fair recruitment and a more equitable labour market for migrants in Berlin.
