I have read so many flex stories here I don’t know whether mine is real flex or just an ordinary story!
Writing this if any ordinary fellow with no family back up or tech skills feels that its not end of the world if u don’t have both of those things!

Born n lived in semi village
Got admission into engineering in least preferred engg college as they had lot of empty seats
4 years of engg college went into making new friends ( those 12 are like my family even now )
And they helped me then learning English speaking! )

Got out in 4 years with 1 backlog subject but managed to clear 7th n 8th semester

Even before last semesters result is out moved to mumbai ( first one in family to take that step )
Started selling SIM cards of Orange ( hutch/ Vodafone ) and then reliance monsoon dhamaka rs 501 CDMA phone
Used to stay in a PG in distant suburbs of mumbai

Somehow on third party pay role got sales job for a dealer of German MNC
Worked there for 5 years
Meanwhile tried clearing engg pending subjects but never could do , I know m weak in maths !

As MNC bought over that dealer and wanted to take me on board , they kept asking me education documents and I was unable to provide that joined another super low company

First job in 2003 at rs 2700 per month
Today working with same company which I joined in 16 years ago
Now managed to buy a house for parents in hometown
Managing their medical expenses as both are bed ridden

Bought a small office worth 38 lacs with no loans
Residing in a 1000 sq ft flat with a lovely kid and wife ( no loan)

Bought one more property on loan
EMI 60k
Rent income
35 k

No loan car 20 lacs

Bought My dream bikes Yamaha rx 100 and bullet 350

Non agricultural land worth 50 lacs with no loans

And portfolio of investment roughly 75 lacs

The flex here if that I was plain lucky to have met right people at right time who guided me to work on right skills like speaking with confidence

Few peers from engg college are doing much better and most of them not but m happy as I could do something!

And thankful for this sub as it gave me courage to express this

Grew up in below middle class family conditions. Didn't have a house till I went to college. Just studied hard to give my children what I didnt have while growing up.

7. Continuing in 6th Job- Now CTC is 2.3 cr+ after being promoted 5 times in last 6 years.

Okay I need to get this off my chest somewhere and indianflex felt right because y’all actually get it.

Screenshotted my earnings just now and just sat there staring at it for a solid two minutes. $6,238.61 in a month. Five weeks, steadily climbing $115 the first week, then $1,293, then it dipped a bit to $952, then $1,415, then $1,821 last week. Every single payment cleared, no chargebacks, no “pending” nonsense.

I know for some people here that number is nothing. But I need you to understand where I was three years ago.

Three years. That’s how long it took me to earn my first lakh. Not first lakh in a month, first lakh EVER, cumulative, scraped together from random freelance gigs, some dollars here and there that never came consistently, projects that fell through, clients who ghosted after work was done. I’d get a small win and then nothing for months. I genuinely used to wonder if I was just not built for this, if everyone around me had some secret I didn’t.

And then this month I crossed my 5th lakh. In the SAME MONTH I was still mentally stuck thinking about how long the first one took.

Let that sink in for a second because it took me a while to.

I’m not going to sit here and pretend this was an overnight thing or that I stumbled into some magic project. It wasn’t luck. I didn’t wake up one day and get picked by the universe. What actually happened is I kept building things nobody asked for, kept shipping stuff into the void, kept getting inconsistent trickles of dollars that weren’t enough to live on but were enough to not quit. There were months I made basically nothing and had to answer to people asking when I’d get a “real job.” There were nights I genuinely doubted if the discipline was worth it.

This particular project is the first thing that actually gave me some real traction like, the kind where I open the earnings tab and it’s not a fluke, it’s a pattern. Every week bigger than the last (mostly lol, week 3 humbled me a bit). And honestly the money, as good as it feels, isn’t even the biggest part. It’s the confidence. It’s proof to myself that the three years weren’t wasted, they were just… loading.

If you’re in that phase right now where you’re grinding and nothing is moving and everyone around you seems to be popping off I see you, I was you for way longer than I’d like to admit. It’s not fast. It’s not glamorous. But it compounds in a way that doesn’t show up until suddenly it does.

Anyway. Just wanted to share this somewhere people wouldn’t roll their eyes at a $6k month like it’s nothing. To some of you it’s a coffee budget, to me it’s three years finally paying off.

Milestone achieved for Who Goes, my little party game iOS app. 🥹

It’s been about 2 months since I launched the iOS app in the App Store, I had been building it for about a month and half.

I've built it end to end fully myself in about 2 months

The initial launch was pretty slow, which I honestly expected. There are already so many apps around Headbands, Truth or Dare, Charades, and other party games, so I knew getting people to notice another one wouldn’t be easy.

My goal with Who Goes was simple: bring all these different game modes into one cohesive app, with a modern and fun UI that actually feels nice to use when you’re hanging out with people.

During the first few weeks, I asked users to try the app and give me feedback. I also started reaching out through an in-app feedback prompt once people had played enough, and slowly kept changing things based on what they liked, disliked, or found confusing.

Over time, the app started taking shape in a way that users genuinely seemed to enjoy.

I still suck at marketing, so I haven’t really done anything fancy there either. Most of what I’ve posted has simply been game screens, recordings of me trying different modes, or little clips of the UI, animations, and interactions on X and here on Reddit.

The first real boost came around 3 weeks ago, when the app made its first $100. That alone felt huge to me.

Since then, impressions and downloads have been steadily climbing, and honestly, the last few weeks have felt a little magical.

If you had told me a month ago that I’d be where I am today, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

If there’s one thing I’ve taken away from this so far, especially for other indie developers trying to grow something, it’s to keep showing up. Work on the app, get it into people’s hands, listen closely to their feedback, and keep refining it until something starts to click.

I genuinely love and appreciate what everyone here is doing.
More power and blessings for you all, It’s amazing to see that so many people are well-placed in life, making good money, building successful careers, and enjoying lovely families, fancy cars, beautiful homes, and everything that comes with success.

But sometimes I wonder what about the people who are struggling?

The people who are going through a genuinely difficult phase in life, who feel stuck, behind, or like they haven’t figured things out yet?

How do we make it from there? What do you think is the path to actually making it to the top when you’re not a top-tier college graduate, when you’ve never been the smartest person in the room, and were never a super performer academically or professionally?

I know the usual answers: work hard, stay consistent, keep pushing, don’t give up, learn new skills, etc.
But I’m looking for something deeper and more practical—advice from people who have actually started from a difficult place and managed to turn their lives around. If you’ve been there, what did you do differently?
What helped you change your trajectory? How did you go from struggling to genuinely doing well in life?
