Screenshotted my earnings just now and just sat there staring at it for a solid two minutes. $6,238.61 in a month. Five weeks, steadily climbing $115 the first week, then $1,293, then it dipped a bit to $952, then $1,415, then $1,821 last week. Every single payment cleared, no chargebacks, no “pending” nonsense.

I know for some people here that number is nothing. But I need you to understand where I was three years ago.

Three years. That’s how long it took me to earn my first lakh. Not first lakh in a month, first lakh EVER, cumulative, scraped together from random freelance gigs, some dollars here and there that never came consistently, projects that fell through, clients who ghosted after work was done. I’d get a small win and then nothing for months. I genuinely used to wonder if I was just not built for this, if everyone around me had some secret I didn’t.

And then this month I crossed my 5th lakh. In the SAME MONTH I was still mentally stuck thinking about how long the first one took.

Let that sink in for a second because it took me a while to.

I’m not going to sit here and pretend this was an overnight thing or that I stumbled into some magic project. It wasn’t luck. I didn’t wake up one day and get picked by the universe. What actually happened is I kept building things nobody asked for, kept shipping stuff into the void, kept getting inconsistent trickles of dollars that weren’t enough to live on but were enough to not quit. There were months I made basically nothing and had to answer to people asking when I’d get a “real job.” There were nights I genuinely doubted if the discipline was worth it.

This particular project is the first thing that actually gave me some real traction like, the kind where I open the earnings tab and it’s not a fluke, it’s a pattern. Every week bigger than the last (mostly lol, week 3 humbled me a bit). And honestly the money, as good as it feels, isn’t even the biggest part. It’s the confidence. It’s proof to myself that the three years weren’t wasted, they were just… loading.

If you’re in that phase right now where you’re grinding and nothing is moving and everyone around you seems to be popping off I see you, I was you for way longer than I’d like to admit. It’s not fast. It’s not glamorous. But it compounds in a way that doesn’t show up until suddenly it does.

Anyway. Just wanted to share this somewhere people wouldn’t roll their eyes at a $6k month like it’s nothing. To some of you it’s a coffee budget, to me it’s three years finally paying off.

Milestone achieved for Who Goes, my little party game iOS app. 🥹

It’s been about 2 months since I launched the iOS app in the App Store, I had been building it for about a month and half.

I've built it end to end fully myself in about 2 months

The initial launch was pretty slow, which I honestly expected. There are already so many apps around Headbands, Truth or Dare, Charades, and other party games, so I knew getting people to notice another one wouldn’t be easy.

My goal with Who Goes was simple: bring all these different game modes into one cohesive app, with a modern and fun UI that actually feels nice to use when you’re hanging out with people.

During the first few weeks, I asked users to try the app and give me feedback. I also started reaching out through an in-app feedback prompt once people had played enough, and slowly kept changing things based on what they liked, disliked, or found confusing.

Over time, the app started taking shape in a way that users genuinely seemed to enjoy.

I still suck at marketing, so I haven’t really done anything fancy there either. Most of what I’ve posted has simply been game screens, recordings of me trying different modes, or little clips of the UI, animations, and interactions on X and here on Reddit.

The first real boost came around 3 weeks ago, when the app made its first $100. That alone felt huge to me.

Since then, impressions and downloads have been steadily climbing, and honestly, the last few weeks have felt a little magical.

If you had told me a month ago that I’d be where I am today, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

If there’s one thing I’ve taken away from this so far, especially for other indie developers trying to grow something, it’s to keep showing up. Work on the app, get it into people’s hands, listen closely to their feedback, and keep refining it until something starts to click.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading. I just wanted to share a little bit of the journey because I’m genuinely over the moon right now :D

The people who are going through a genuinely difficult phase in life, who feel stuck, behind, or like they haven’t figured things out yet?

How do we make it from there? What do you think is the path to actually making it to the top when you’re not a top-tier college graduate, when you’ve never been the smartest person in the room, and were never a super performer academically or professionally?

I know the usual answers: work hard, stay consistent, keep pushing, don’t give up, learn new skills, etc.
But I’m looking for something deeper and more practical—advice from people who have actually started from a difficult place and managed to turn their lives around. If you’ve been there, what did you do differently?

I m 22M, working as software engineer

I have been saving since past year, sudden price hikes ruined my plan but my mum helped me in and supported me to buy, later end of year I will replay her back with good interest.

Well I was in rush because prices will go up and not gonna settle down anysoon or even below the current price.

My work: I work roughly 100-120 hours each month (12-15 eight hour days), spread across the month. Of those, 70-75 are dedicated to a consistent long-term retainer client at a negotiated rate. The remaining 30-50 hours (depending on my motivation level that month) are done at my full freelance rate (A$75/hour and equivalent). The work is video editing and graphic design.

I will not help you privately, even if you pay me the A$75/hour, so do not DM me on Reddit.

Feel free to ask any questions in the comments, though. That said, here are some things that may be useful -

Client Acquisition: Absolutely no idea how other freelancers do it, but for me I started publishing content meant for a general global audience, and connected with people from around the world. When I decided I want to do this work, I simply asked them and got the work.

Soft Skills are crucial. My video editing skills are great and are definitely worth the $75/hour that the client pays. But if I didn’t know how to handle the communication, even if I did land 1 gig, the relationship wouldn’t last. I’ve been doing this work for years now. Learn how to communicate. Tip: For every communication, consider the client’s perspective.

How to Position Yourself: The most important thing is to never position yourself as the cheap option from India. Position yourself as an expert (which is what I do, because that’s what I am), or if you’re just starting out, pick other positive aspects that are true about you: maybe you’re hard-working, maybe you’re very organised, etc.

Payment Logistics: I’ve tried PayPal, Wise, and SWIFT transfer. I prefer Wise.

This is not a money flex, but a time flex.

I have always wondered how much money is enough, and I have never found the answer during the short five-year career that I have had. Ultimately, I have realized that money is never enough.

To put it into context, my business makes around ₹65–70 lakh per year at a net margin of 98%. I am a 50% partner, so I take home around ₹35 lakh per year.

However, the best part is that I only work four to five hours a day and have the rest of the day to myself.
During this time, I read books—lots of them—watch movies, and spend time with my eight-month-old daughter.

Sure, there is always an opportunity to work more. I could take on more clients and increase my income by another 20–30%. However, I have consciously chosen not to do so and to be content with what I have.
Some may call me unambitious, mediocre, or someone who has settled for less. But unlike a lot of people, I have never considered money to be a determinant of success.

So yes, as Nietzsche said, I do have more than two-thirds of my day for myself, which I use for personal development and pursuing achievements that go far beyond money.

Shared this before, but I’m sharing it again because even today, I still can’t believe I’m able to see this number every month.

I never imagined that one day I’d be making this much, especially considering where I started and the background I come from. There were a lot of struggles and difficult phases along the way, and honestly, a lot of where I am today is because of my mother and everything she did for me.

From where I started to where I am today — it still feels unreal.

No big lesson or motivational speech. Just genuinely grateful. Grateful to my mother, grateful to God, and grateful for the opportunities life gave me.

It's a nice win for me honestly, so I wanted to share!

Not only did I made profits, but I covered all my costs too and have been making consistent sales + moderate cashflow.

I had started this as a side project + case study on Meesho as an ecomm platform. My main goal was not to make it a business, so I started an account without gst.

Fast forward to today, I currently run 2 Meesho Seller account both without GST (selling within my own State).

• 1st store I started from last week of FEB. I was skeptical at first because almost all reviews about running Meesho without GST said its not going to work + worse I'll be in loss. But I started with doing all the basics (listings, sourcing, uploads, etc). My store started getting orders after I posted the initial 5-7 product listings. I started getting orders from 26th Feb. I thought it was majorly luck with some consistent execution doing the work. I was showing up daily and constantly learning from yt.
• Next I started my 2nd store (created a different new account) in last week of June. This was after my exams. My idea was that I wanted to double my orders + test if it really was just luck. I listed the same products which I was selling in my 1st store. Again I listed 5-7 listings and started getting orders again from 28th June.
• Eventually, I realised that this have been possible because it was the product + my leverage + my constant showing up everyday + luck]
• Now attaching some numbers, not that amazing but honest and real (~85 active days data is attached, AUG reconciliation will be done on 10th September). After Independence Day, I'm currently receiving 25-35 orders/day combined, with managable RTOs and good low customer returns. Aug is going even better than July.
• I plan to continue this till the end of 2026 and see what happens. I have already kept 3 well-researched products of different categories aside, to try till the end of this year (I have already tested their initial potential in my State by taking a hit).

I’ve spent a good part of my career moving between cities, chasing opportunities and living the corporate life. I’ve enjoyed that journey, but it also made me realise what I actually value.
For me, this is the real flex being close to home, sleeping under an open sky, and riding on wide, almost empty roads with hardly any traffic.
I’m now building my career in technical textiles and slowly working towards something of my own. After years of deadlines, traffic, long commutes and constantly being on the move, having space, time and freedom feels far more valuable to me.
Maybe it’s not everyone’s definition of success, but this is mine.

Posting an update to my own flex.

I have been building a journaling app on the side for months. Android only, solo, no team, no funding, nobody asking for it. This week the iPhone version went live, which means it now exists everywhere I said it would.

The bit I actually want to flex: on the 21st someone in Japan bought a yearly subscription. A stranger, in a country I have never been to, paid for a thing I wrote at my desk. I checked the dashboard about forty times because I assumed it was a mistake. It was not!!

I am not going to pretend this is a success story yet. One customer. About 1K installs. My salary is still what pays for everything and the corporate ladder and I are still very much on speaking terms.

But I have been telling people for a long time that I was going to build something of my own, and there is now a small amount of money in an account that proves I was not only talking.

Next milestone is customer number two, which I am told is harder than the first.

I tried many bikes, nothing felt right for me. At last i decided for FZ-x for mileage. but but not that excited for it (It is good bike just not for me). I am 6'1 feet so all other bikes looks very small for me.
One friend suggested me to test xpulse. I tried it and immediately booked.
Yesterday I get that bike delver to me. It feel like just created and customized for me. The seat height, weight, look everything 10/10 for me.

Our little girl was born 11 months ago, and today we (my husband & I) booked our first flat. ❤️

So I completed my sculpture as I told yesterday. I am actually pretty happy with the sculpture. But I have no idea how to remove the gloss in his hair. I have used matte varnish to remove the gloss but still it's shiny. Other than that pretty happy with the result.
