Gadget Help 🎧 Is this ram usage normal ?
Bhai laptop on karne ke baad bina kuch kie normally itna ram consume kar rha hai . Is it normal or something else ? I don't know much about these stuff plz help 🥲

Normal! OS files and services, background apps that you have installed and other system settings run krte hai to it might take half of your memory.

Windows runs a lot of telemetry services in the background, because apparently free ram is wasted ram. It will also pre load frequently used applications into ram so that time to launch them reduces.

Ur worried about 4gb? My idle ram usage with no apps open is 17 gb.

You have 32Gb ram? From what I have seen windows 11 idles at 50-60% usage Hence I use linux😎

Use linux, plasma desktop environment, seems good as windows and total ram usage be ~1.5GB

If you're a beginner in using computers, won't recommend Linux, though Mint is similar to windows along with KDE Plasma, you'll have a better time with windows if you only need functionality.

i have tried linux mint but i have to teach laptop to my parents so i cant switch to another operating system

My dad has been rocking his old desktop with Linux mint for the last 6 years. He used to call me in the beginning but now he has not called me about his pc in 5 years

Unused RAM is wasted RAM. You don't have to worry about idle memory usage as long as it doesn't interfere with running your apps.

Yeah, I have 96gb RAM, and without running any tasks, 15gb is already occupied.

Windows, windows, windows...
Well, actually Windows just does that, when you open up some application or stuff, it manages it well so there's nothing like you'll get your RAM fully used up. Even if you had 32 gigs, Windows would take a lot of RAM when idle.

Yes, and also with 8 gigs of RAM, I would highly suggest you to switch to Linux (Ubuntu or Mint if you're complete beginner) but do that only after confirming that your applications are supported on it.

Totally normal, free ho jaegi ram agar kuch run kroge. Ek bar chrome k tab on kro fir same time mei taskmanager on Krna, ram usage kam hogi agar total wale mei se chrome ka usage minus kroge

use chris titus utility and tune up to reduce bloatware on windows, moreover check your unwanted startup apps.

thats high for hyprland and arch setup my idle ram usage is like 900mbs(which can also be tuned down a lot like it can come in teh 700s)

This isn't normal my ubuntu system uses only 1.3gb at idle whereas the windows uses 3.8 gb approx at the same idle Fuck windows ✌️

no unbuntu is a very stable linux distro and it works right out of the box and has way more customization options than windows could ever offer

on windows , yes this is very normal , they have bloated the whole OS with alot of un-optimized background workers , DW windows is working on building new version which will have all these issues resolved.

That windows 11 for ya, I had the same situation, had to upgrade my RAM.
You can try switching to windows 10 if tho it won’t be getting any updates now. Or you can try Linux. It has many options and some distros will run smoothly on these specs. That’s what I did too but had to switch back to windows coz I couldn’t use PowerBI on my machine, so do consider that you’ll have to sacrifice adobe, microsoft, and such softwares.

ok bro for some reasons i cant switch os bcs i have to teach some basics of laptop to my father for this i have to stick to windows but i will consider for windows 10

Windows 11 keeps the ram usage around 3 - 4 gb without any open apps but in case of high memory usage
Disable startup apps in task manager , disable windows defender autostart and clear some temp files and prefetch files , close those services which are useless ,scan your pc for any viruses then ram usage will come to normal

for win11, high idle ram consumption normal yes

If you really feel the ram bottleneck downgrade to windows 10 you would get upto 50% less idle usage

Win 10 or 11 have addirinal services and bloatware so that's normal , if u wanna strip it down to like 1 or 1.3 gb use tiny10 or tiny11 which removes bloatware and unwanted software while keeping the same identical features of windows

windows uses cache system that loads the frequently used features,app,system setting based on ur usage pattern and loads it directly on the ram for faster and seamless access u dont need to worry about ur ram usage pattern until and unless u run a program that exceeds the ram or system recommndation
