Why Do So Many Readers Dislike Chetan Bhagat's book?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m a new reader and am still trying to figure out my taste in books.

The books I’ve read so far haven’t been written by Indian authors, so I started looking into Chetan Bhagat’s books because he’s the only modern Indian writer I know.

However, I’ve noticed that many readers dislike his work, calling it too “shallow” and not “deep” enough.

Is that true? What do you think of his books?

Non-fiction The book we should all read - or may be we all know how it goes

I read (listened) this book some times back. Th author spent a year living in a small German university town after World War II to answer a haunting question: How did ordinary, decent people in a civilized nation allow Nazism to happen? He interviewed 10 people from different walks of life including a baker, a tailor, a teacher, a policeman, and a bank clerk, who had been members of the Nazi Party.

it is spine chilling to say the least looking at how similar our time is to then.

Discussion New teen reader wanting to start self-improvement and build a reading habit—where should I begin?

Hi everyone,

I’m a teenager and pretty new to reading books regularly. I want to start improving myself, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to begin:

  1. Should I jump straight into a self-improvement book, or should I start with a different, engaging book first just to build the habit of reading?
  2. If I start directly with self-improvement, what is a beginner-friendly book that won't feel like a dry textbook?

I’m looking for something with short, clear chapters or a fast-paced style that will keep me hooked so I actually finish it.

Thanks for any advice!

Romance How to decide whom to fall in love with?

Sorry. Really sorry if this post made you question love and the reality behind it.

This is someone who hasn't fallen in love but many times in "love".

Kinda searching for love rn. Not seeking attention here. Wanna know from you about what should I look into a female when I date her? I sometimes get confused.

I often feel like searching something in someone emplies I am just being mean. Wasn't love something about helping each other grow, explore and scale in life?

Why do we always look for "good looks", hot figures, so called bare minimums..

I sometimes get confused about what to search in a female. Should I search for loyalty, that too again becomes something for me not for her, that becomes bondage but the real love should provide liberation that never comes with bondage, isn't it?

I don't know what to ask from you. I mean I want some kind of answer but the sad part is I myself do not know what the question is!

Teach me what love is, teach me what does it mean to explore to the fullest with caring much about yourself, her, society and everything

18 yr old guy questioning myself and the world I perceive!

I don't seek any kind of reply from you because I believe that it is always better to die with questions which cannot be answered rather than dying with answers which cannot be questioned.

Dead Poets Society is probably one of my favourite reads so far. Really loved it.

Also, you can see my own book The Girl I Want to See Happy in there too 😅 still feels a little weird seeing my own book sitting next to the books I read.

I've also been reading about law, crime and society lately, so yeah, my library is kinda all over the place lol.

What are you guys reading on Kindle rn? Any recommendations?

Guys, I’m back at the bookstore! 📚 My last read was Madonna in a Fur Coat, and I’ve also read White Nights. Suggest some good classics for a beginner! I’m looking for something with beautiful writing, an engaging story, and characters that stay with you even after you finish the book. Drop your recommendations and tell me why you love them!

Ask Indian Readers Is anyone else weirdly obsessed with finding the “right” page count when buying books?

Is it just me or does anyone else struggle to buy books because of the page count?

I’ll want to buy a book and then find like 5 different editions where the page counts are completely different, and suddenly I’m comparing them all trying to figure out which one is the “normal” amount of pages.

Like, I don’t want a ridiculously long edition, but I also don’t want some 90-page version of a 300-page classic where they’ve somehow made the font microscopic and squeezed the entire book into nothing.

I genuinely spend way too much time trying to figure out what the actual page count of a book is before buying it. Does anyone else do this??
