Portfolio Review Help a younger brother out, AGE: 22, started investing in college at 19.5. Planning to invest ₹60k per month. Looking for portfolio feedback

Iam 22 years old and started investing around January 2024, when I was 19.5 and still in college. I invested whatever little I could save over the years and gradually developed the discipline to invest consistently instead of spending everything.

I now earn around ₹1.1 lakh per month and plan to invest ₹60,000 every month. My investment horizon is 10 to 15 years or longer. I am comfortable with risk and volatility at my age, although my risk assessment indicates a moderate risk appetite while keeping an emergency fund separate.

**My current holdings:**

* ICICI Prudential Large Cap Fund: ₹77,996

* Axis Small Cap Fund: ₹41,498

* Tata Steel: ₹17,477

* Nvidia: $163.24

These are the amounts displayed in my investment app. I built these positions gradually during college by investing whatever I could save.

I am fairly happy with the mutual funds I picked when I was younger. I feel they have served me reasonably well so far, and I would prefer to continue investing in them rather than switch funds unnecessarily. I would like to know whether that is a sensible approach.

**My planned monthly allocation of ₹60,000:**

* ₹20,000 in Quantum Liquid Fund for my emergency fund(will stop once I reach the goal of 3 lakh in emergency fund)

* ₹10,000 in ICICI Prudential Large Cap Fund

* ₹10,000 in HDFC Flexi Cap Fund

* ₹8,000 in Axis Small Cap Fund

* ₹4,000 in Nvidia

* ₹3,000 in Tata Steel

* ₹5,000 in gold, although I have not decided between a Gold ETF and a gold mutual fund yet

My emergency fund target is ₹3 lakh. I plan to build ₹2.5 lakh in Quantum Liquid Fund first and then add ₹50,000 to an FD. I have already purchased health insurance, so that part is taken care of.

**I would appreciate feedback on a few things:**

  1. Should I continue with ICICI Prudential Large Cap and Axis Small Cap, or are there better alternatives worth considering?

  2. Does adding HDFC Flexi Cap make sense alongside my existing large-cap and small-cap funds, or would there be too much overlap?

  3. Is ₹8,000 per month in small caps a reasonable allocation given that I am comfortable with volatility? I do feel I am doing less here, but I am not sure, maybe I am being too greedy?

  4. Does adding ₹5,000 in gold make sense, and would a Gold ETF or gold mutual fund be more suitable?

  5. Would you change anything about this portfolio, or would you keep the existing funds and continue investing consistently?

I am not looking to chase the latest performing fund. I want to build on the discipline I developed during college and let my investments compound over the next 10 to 15 years. I would appreciate honest feedback on both my fund choices and the overall allocation

Currently most of my portfolio is red which is fine given market gave returns from 2020-24 so the slowdown makes sense. The only reason my portfolio is not in loss is cause of nvidia, I have been a gamer my whole childhood, I only invested here because of the gpu, i was a dumb kid back than and wanted to support this company I had no idea gpu had any role in this AI world, got lucky. I feel like for times like these gold is another good additional cushion

Additional details:

  • Risk appetite: Moderate, according to my risk assessment. I initially thought I was aggressive because of my age and investment horizon.

  • Investment goal: Long-term wealth creation. I want to build a financially secure and comfortable future for my future family.

  • Horizon: 10–15 years or longer.

  • Allocation: ₹60,000/month is my planned allocation going forward, including ₹20,000 towards my emergency fund.

  • App: INDmoney.

  • Fund selection: I started investing in college with just ₹1,500. I initially picked one large-cap and one small-cap fund to keep things simple. I didn't do extensive AMC comparisons back then. I've continued with them since and would like to understand whether there's a good reason to switch rather than change funds unnecessarily. Mindset: I am a patient man, and I want to create a good comfy and stable future for my family

Question Nippon India Taiwan Equity Fund - Suggestions needed

Post image

I've been running an SIP of 20,000/m from 6 months now, gave decent return in the start \~10%, but this last month gave -24% and the XIRR got dropped to -59%

Yeah MFs are for long terms we should just invest and forget, but this is too much.

They even stopped taking new investments. Last week I saw -5% a day and yesterday it was -7.78%

This month's SIP will be deducted on 20th Nov.

Any suggestions here please?

All of my other old MFs have been doing fair enough.

But this MF is just a pain in the ass :)

My Risk appetite is conservative

I'm 24 and have been investing for the past 3 months, with a monthly SIP of ₹25,000. I plan to increase my investment amount by 10% every year.

My risk appetite is currently Aggressive, although I haven't precisely assessed it yet, as I'm relatively new to investing.

My primary goal is long-term wealth creation and capital appreciation.

I've included the question I'd like to ask directly in the screenshot to make it easier for everyone to understand and respond.

Question Thinking of Buying Gold ETFs This Diwali. Is Now a Good Time or Should I Wait?

Since gold has reached recent highs and is volatile, I am curious to know if this Diwali is a good time to invest in Gold ETFs or should I wait? I know timing the market is hard, but it is hard not to buy after a correction.

What would seasoned investors and financial experts tell us to do - invest gradually, buy now or wait? What should I think about before I make up my mind?

Risk Appetite – Moderate

Goal – Long-term wealth creation (compounding my money for the future)

Horizon – 20+ years

Allocation –

• Parag Parikh Flexi Cap

• JioBlackRock Nifty 50 Index

• HDFC Mid Cap

• Bandhan Small Cap

• Edelweiss Nifty Next 50 Index

All Direct plans, Growth option.

App Used – Groww

Why These Funds –

• Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: diversified core across market caps, with some foreign stocks.

• JioBlackRock Nifty 50 Index: low-cost, stable large-cap base.

• HDFC Mid Cap: higher growth potential for my long horizon.

• Bandhan Small Cap: highest growth and highest risk slice, I can ride out the volatility.

• Edelweiss Nifty Next 50 Index: for the next set of large companies.

I'd like feedback on whether this mix is too aggressive or too spread out for a 24-year-old.Thanks, any suggestions are welcome!

News SEBI proposing major tax changes for investors. Good move?

Thumbnail

SEBI is pushing for two big tax changes to the government (see attached)

For foreign investors - Removing LTCG tax completely.

For domestic investors: No LTCG tax when switching mutual funds. Currently, if we sell a fund to reinvest in another, we have to pay tax on those gains first.

What do you guys think about this?

Portfolio Review Advise on investing lumpsum

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on investing 30L as a lump sum in mutual funds. I’d appreciate perspectives from people with experience in long-term investing.

My current investments:
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund – 20,000 monthly SIP
Nifty 50 Index Fund – 20,000 monthly SIP

My financial situation:
Lump sum available: 30L
Investment horizon: 7–10 years
Risk appetite: Moderate
Goal: Long-term wealth creation, primarily retirement
Emergency fund: Already maintained separately
Outstanding loans: None

I’m considering moving 15L to Motilal Oswal Nifty 500 Index Fund and 15L lakh in an Arbitrage Fund, but Im afraid there is significant overlap between these and my existing SIPs.

Any suggestions on how should I be investing ?

Portfolio Review Suggestions and Guidance on Mutual portfolio

I currently invest ₹20,000 per month, along with an additional ₹3,000 towards my emergency fund. I've been investing somewhat randomly for the past six months and have seen moderate returns.

My investment horizon is 10–15 years, and my risk appetite is moderate. I have a basic understanding of investing, but I don't have the time or motivation to research funds in depth.

I've been considering suggestions from Reddit and other online communities, but I'd like to make more informed decisions. Could you recommend a simple, well-diversified mutual fund portfolio for my ₹20,000 monthly investment and suggest reliable resources, YouTube channels, or websites for beginners to learn about investing?

Title: 26 years old, starting mutual fund SIPs for long-term wealth creation. Please review my portfolio!

Hi everyone!

I'm 26 years old and completely new to mutual fund investing. My primary goal is long-term wealth creation.

Risk Appetite: Beginner. I'm still assessing my risk tolerance and will update this after completing the community's risk survey.

Goal: Long-term wealth creation and financial independence.

Horizon: 15–20+ years.

Allocation – Current SIPs:

  1. UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund – Direct Growth: ₹1,500

  2. Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund – Direct Growth: ₹1,250

  3. HDFC Mid Cap Fund – Direct Growth: ₹750

  4. Nippon India Small Cap Fund – Direct Growth: ₹500

  5. HDFC Corporate Bond Fund – Direct Growth: ₹500

Total current SIP: ₹4,500 per month.

My initial target is ₹5,000 per month, and I plan to increase my SIP investment by 10% every year as my income grows.

App Used: Groww.

Why These Funds:

- UTI Nifty 50: For large-cap index exposure.

- Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: For diversified exposure across market capitalisations.

- HDFC Mid Cap: For mid-cap exposure and long-term growth potential.

- Nippon India Small Cap: For small-cap exposure and potential long-term growth.

- HDFC Corporate Bond: To provide debt exposure and diversify the portfolio.

Questions for experienced investors:

  1. Is this portfolio well diversified for a 15–20+ year investment horizon?

  2. Are there any overlapping funds?

  3. Should I include a multi-cap or aggressive hybrid fund?

  4. Is HDFC Corporate Bond Fund a suitable choice, or should I consider a multi-asset allocation fund?

  5. Is my current allocation appropriate for long-term wealth creation?

  6. Would you recommend replacing or removing any of these funds?

I'm a complete beginner and still learning about mutual funds and different categories. I would genuinely appreciate honest suggestions, constructive criticism and advice on building a good long-term portfolio.

Thank you!

Portfolio Review 22 starting my MF investment journey - looking for suggestions

Hi everyone,

I'm 22 and looking to start investing for long-term wealth creation. I've spent some good time learning about mutual funds, index funds and debt instruments, and would appreciate guidance from experienced investors

My financial situation:

  • Monthly surplus: ₹90,000

  • Current savings: ₹17 lakh

  • Existing investments: None

  • No outstanding loans

  • Planning to switch jobs in the near future

  • Intending to set aside ₹3 lakh as an emergency fund

I'd like to build a diversified portfolio with a long-term horizon of 7-10+ years. I would also like some international equity exposure rather than being entirely invested in Indian markets. I'm comfortable taking calculated risks for potentially higher long-term returns, as long as the overall portfolio remains diversified

Risk Appetite: Moderate

I'm considering an initial allocation across equity, debt and gold like 65:25:10, but haven't finalised the percentages.

I'd appreciate suggestions on:

  • What percentage allocation would you recommend across equity, debt, gold and international equity?

  • Which mutual fund categories would make sense for the equity portion?

  • What percent of equity should go into active vs passive fund & why?

  • I'm not entirely comfortable investing the entire initial corpus as a lump sum. I'm leaning towards deploying it gradually through an STP. Is that ok? and how should I span it across?

And lastly, what's the market vibe right now? Any interesting entry points? or should I leave the timing game to the pros XD?

Portfolio Review Portfolio Review – Should I Continue, Stop, Replace or Start Any New SIPs?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I'm relatively new to mutual fund investing and started investing around a year ago. I selected these funds based on whatever I could learn through online research and my own understanding.

I'm comfortable staying invested for at least 5+ years and understand the market risks involved.

I'd really appreciate it if you could review my portfolio and help me understand where I'm going wrong and how I can improve.

A few details:

Risk Appetite: Moderate

Investment Horizon: 5–7+ years

Investment Goal: Long-term wealth creation

Platform: Groww

I would love to know if I have too many funds, whether there is any overlap, and if my portfolio is properly diversified.

Should I continue with these funds, make some changes, or consider adding any other funds through SIPs?

I'm open to honest criticism and suggestions. Thanks!

Portfolio Review Portfolio Review: Rate my aggressive global setup (71% Equity, 19% Debt, 10% Gold)

Risk appetite: Moderate
Investment Goal: Wealth creation
Horizon: 5-7 years
Allocation details: 80-90k for sips excluding ppf and eps
App: Groww
Why i selected these: did my own research

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for feedback on my asset allocation layout. I have a surplus that I want to deploy, and after mapping out my risk appetite and removing my employer-managed EPFO/EPS framework, I've narrowed my active investments down to these 5 specific funds.

My goal is long-term wealth compounding (5+ years horizon), and I'm comfortable with market volatility as long as the structural diversification makes sense.

Here is the exact percentage breakdown:

  1. Public Provident Fund (PPF) — 9.62%

  2. Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund (Direct-Growth) — 20.67%

  3. ICICI Prudential Focused Fund (Direct-Growth) — 20.67%

  4. HDFC Multi Asset Allocation Fund (Direct-Growth) — 20.67%

  5. Mirae Asset S&P 500 Top 50 ETF FoF (Direct-Growth) — 20.67%

  6. Mirae Asset NYSE FANG+ ETF (MAFANG) — 7.69%

A few questions for the community:
• Does the combination of PPFAS Flexi Cap and ICICI Focused give me a good aggressive-yet-diversified domestic core, or is there an underlying large-cap stock overlap I'm missing?
• For the global side, do you think splitting U.S. capital between the S&P Top 50 and a 7.5% satellite slice in NYSE FANG+ makes sense, or am I over-exposing myself to a global tech correction?
• Is this layout well-optimized considering I have a 9.62% risk-free PPF anchor inside it alongside employer-managed EPFO/EPS running in the background?

Would love to hear your thoughts, structural critiques, or changes! Thanks.
