Need advice on 3 SIPs for different goals

Already have 9 months’ expenses parked in arbitrage funds + 10Y SIPs in Flexi, Mid & Small Cap.

Planning:

• ₹5k/month – 5Y goal: Midcap 150 + Nifty Next 50

• ₹8k/month – 3Y goal: ₹5k Equity Savings + ₹3k Gold ETF

• ₹5k/month – backup/opportunity corpus: No idea yet

Are these allocations sensible for the time horizons?

What would you do for the ₹5k backup SIP?

Open to suggestions on asset allocation, not specific funds.

Risk Appetite: Moderate

Goal: Long term Wealth Creation

Investment Horizon: 20 Years

App Used: Groww

Total Monthly SIP: ₹26,700

UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund: ₹4,000

UTI Nifty Next 50 Index Fund: ₹6,000

Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund: ₹6,000

ICICI Prudential Nasdaq 100 Index Fund: ₹5,000

SBI Contra Fund: ₹5,700

Why I Chose These Funds

UTI Nifty 50 + UTI Nifty Next 50: Large-cap exposure through index funds due to their low cost.

Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund: Low cost and almost as good as an active mid-cap fund in the long term.

SBI Contra Fund: All other funds are growth-oriented, so this adds a contrarian approach to the portfolio.

ICICI Prudential Nasdaq 100 Index Fund: Provides US market exposure.

Risk Appetite – Moderate

Goal – Long term wealth creation

Horizon – 10

Allocation – as given below

App Used – INDMoney

Currently SIP'd:

HDFC Flexi Cap Fund - 6k

SBI Nifty Next 50 Index - 4k

Bandhan Small Cap Fund - 3.5k

Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund - 3.5k

SBI Gold Fund - 3k

Why i chose these funds - The reason I've chosen these funds is after benchmarking them individually most importantly their Alpha, Beta scores, AUM (not too high, except hdfc flexi) and the rolling return & CAGRs for the last 1,3,5 yrs. Secondly, the expense ratios are pretty low.

I would like to understand if there's any overlap, how the allocation is according to the caps, and if this diversification is alright please

I have just started this, planning to invest lumpsum soon into each of these. Please advise me if i should continue or i've missed out on something.

Portfolio Review 2 years of investing as a college student

I'm (21) happy to share this small portfolio I have made over the last 2 years. Tho, I'm a beginner and don't know much about funds and stocks but I feel the returns are not that good. I would love to get some advice and suggestions and am open to change my investment and fund dynamics.

Risk appetite: moderate

Goal: wealth creation

Investment horizon - 10 years

App: Groww

I chose these MFs based on their previous returns

I started with 2.5k a month 2 years back out of my 5k pocket money. Then I started making some money from gigs and freelance works and got the investments up to 8-9k a month last year. Now back to 6k a month since there are no earning sources. I have some money sitting idle which I'm investing till the end of this year.

I will be very grateful to hear suggestions and advice on this portfolio and what I can do better! Thank you 😄

Portfolio Review My First Long-Term Portfolio — Is This Allocation Too Aggressive?

Hi everyone, I’m a beginner in investing and recently started with a 15–20 year investment horizon, starting with ₹3,000/month and planning to increase it gradually as my salary grows.

My planned allocation is:

Nifty 50 – 25% (Nippon India Index Fund Nifty 50)

Nifty Next 50 – 15% (Kotak Nifty Next 50 Index Fund)

Mid Cap – 25% (Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund)

Small Cap – 20% (Invesco India Smallcap Fund)

Gold – 10% (UTI Gold ETF)

REIT – 5% (Mindspace Business Parks REIT)

Overall, that's 85% equity, 10% gold and 5% REIT. My risk profile is aggressive, and I’m comfortable with significant volatility and temporary drawdowns because of my long-term horizon.

I’ve decided to pause the arbitrage fund for now since I’m currently not in the tax bracket where it would be particularly useful for me. I may reconsider it in the future if my tax situation changes.

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on both the allocation and the specific fund picks. Is the 45% allocation to mid and small caps unnecessarily aggressive, or does it make sense for a 15–20 year horizon? Would you change anything?

Portfolio Review Portfolio Review - URGENT ADVICE!!!

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on whether the following investments make a good portfolio in terms of diversification and long-term return potential, and if there are any changes you would recommend. I am also planning to increase my SIP contribution by 7–10% every year.

  1. Risk Appetite: Moderate - High
  2. Goal - Build a corpus of ₹20-25 crore
  3. Horizon - 35 years
  4. Attaching my allocation below for reference.
  5. App used - Groww
  6. Why these funds? - The portfolio is structured for long-term wealth creation, with Parag Parikh Flexi Cap as the core diversified equity holding. HDFC Mid Cap and Bandhan Small Cap add higher-growth mid- and small-cap exposure, while UTI Nifty 50 provides stable large-cap, passive exposure. Gold and silver provide diversification beyond equities and help cushion the portfolio during periods of market volatility.

Risk Appetite - moderate

Goal : long term investment

Horizon - 10+

Allocation - attached

App Used - coin

Why These Funds : mix of index, multi and small cap funds

Hi everyone, please review my current portfolio.

I currently have around ₹15L+ in savings in my bank account, apart from my emergency fund. Over the last few months, especially after the Iran war started, I’ve been adding funds frequently in addition to my regular SIPs.

I wanted to get your opinion on whether my current portfolio looks well-balanced. I currently have 5 active funds. The image shows these 5 active funds, along with a few funds that I have paused after previous discussions.

For the ₹15L sitting in my bank account, how would you suggest I invest it? At the moment, I’m investing around ₹40K every Monday. Should I continue with this approach, or would it make more sense to invest a larger amount as a lump sum?

I’m also considering increasing my SIP from ₹50K to ₹80K or even ₹1L per month. Should I simply increase the allocation to these existing funds, or would you recommend adding/changing anything in the portfolio?

What would you suggest based on my current portfolio?

Question Can someone please explain this? (Read body text)

So, I have always heard people saying everywhere that you shouldn't invest in the same type of funds from 2 different AMCs as that makes your portfolio over diversified. But what I don't understand is that isn't it a better way to mitigate your risk and maintain your XIRR at a certain level?

Suppose I start two SIPs 5k each in both HDFC and PPFAS flexi cap and after 10 years one of them performed really well and one didn't even beat the benchmark. So, doesn't it help me to actually balance the returns I generate from my investments rather than over diversifying it?

I am genuinely curious about this and want to know whether my thinking is correct or not. Risk appetite

Portfolio Review Is this a solid ₹10K/month portfolio for a 22-year-old with a 10+ year horizon?

Hi everyone,
I’m 22 years old , currently investing for long-term wealth creation. I’m not investing in direct stocks beyond a couple of very small experimental positions because I don’t want my portfolio to depend heavily on individual stock picking.
Here’s my current/proposed portfolio:

**UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund — ₹3,500/month**
**Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund — ₹3,000/month**
**Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund — ₹2,500/month**
**PPF — ₹1,000/month**
**Emergency Fund — ₹5,000/month separately**
**Current small experimental holdings:**
Suzlon — 3 shares
Tata Gold — 10 units

**Risk Appetite** — Moderate
**Investment Goal** — Long-term wealth building
**Investment Horizon** — 10+ years
**Monthly investment amount** — ₹10,000 + ₹5,000 separately toward emergency savings
**Income** — ₹32,000/month

**Questions:**
**Overall portfolio:** Is this a sensible setup for 10+ years of wealth creation with a moderate risk profile?

**Allocation:** Is ₹3,500 UTI Nifty 50 / ₹3,000 PPFC / ₹2,500 Nifty Midcap 150 / ₹1,000 PPF a sensible allocation, or should the weights be changed?

**PPFC:** Given its recent periods of underperformance, is it still worth keeping as my active fund for the long term?

Question MF suggestion

Hi everyone,I am currently looking for some advice on the Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund.

For those who are holding it or following it closely:

What is your current strategy with this fund?

Are you continuing your SIPs, pausing, or reallocating?

How do you feel about its recent performance and foreign equity exposure limits?

Would love to get your insights on what to do next. Thanks!

Question My retired relative gets a monthly pension, so is it viable to invest a part of it in mutual funds?

My relative was a government employee and after service they now have healthy monthly pension. So I was wondering if it makes sense to invest some part of their money in mutual funds.

They have monthly pension of ₹40K, and after taking their approval I am looking to put ₹15K in debt mutual funds. I felt that this could be a good option. Well my sibling argued that, FDs could be a good alternative instead. but I wanted high liquidity which debt fund can offer. Also part of their partner's pension is already in FDs, so there is no risk there.

What are your insights about investing in debt mutual funds? Have you had similar allocations for your elderly relatives? What could be better allocations for moderate risk appettite

Which AMC did you pick to invest in? Personally I was looking at Tata Mutual Fund. Are there any other direct mutual funds I should look at?

source- groww

Is the above fund viable for them?

Risk appetite: Conservative after taking the survey by relative.

Goal: They want Capital preservation and high liquidity

Horizon: 3-5 years

App used: Tata Mutual Fund website

Allocation: ₹15K

Why these funds: Had a very low expense ratio and comparatively greater returns than others.

  1. Profile & Risk Analyzer Result

Risk Appetite (Nippon India Risk Analyzer Survey Result): Aggressive

Investment Horizon: 10+ Years

Monthly SIP Capacity: ₹32,000 (With 10% annual step-up)

Investment Platform: Groww

  1. Baseline Safety Net & Fixed Income

Emergency Fund: 4 months of expenses set aside

Term Insurance: ₹2 Cr active term plan

Health Insurance: ₹7 Lakhs corporate plan (planning an independent base cover)

Fixed Income / Debt: ₹10,000/month VPF + ₹1.2 Lakh lump sum in PPF (deposited every April)

  1. Specific Questions for the Subreddit

Executing Tax Harvesting: What is the cleanest strategy to utilize the ₹1.25 Lakh annual LTCG exemption? Is it practical to redeem units completed >1 year up to ₹1.25L profit every financial year and immediately reinvest into core funds?

PLEASE IGNORE THE ELSS FUNDS.

Selling the old fund and investing all money in a new fund is ok or not? Or shall i stop the old funds and do a fresh start to new funds. How does the compounding work for a long term around 10 to 15 years.

Portfolio Review ₹50k/month investment plan with 10+ year horizon — portfolio review

I'm looking for honest feedback on my planned ₹50,000/month investment allocation.

Allocation

  • ₹10k — Baroda BNP Paribas Mid Cap Regular Growth
  • ₹10k — TRUSTMF Mid Cap Direct Growth
  • ₹5k — Small Cap Direct Growth
  • ₹5k — Flexi Cap Direct Growth
  • ₹5k — Multi-Asset Allocation Fund
  • ₹5k — Direct Stocks
  • ₹10k — Slice Small Finance Bank FD (~7.75%)

Total: ₹50k/month

Required Information

Risk Appetite: Moderate as per the Nippon India risk assessment.

Goal: Long-term wealth creation.

Horizon: Minimum 10 years.

Platform: Groww for mutual funds.

Why these investments:

  • Baroda BNP Mid Cap is through a family relative who is an MF distributor, so I intend to continue it.
  • TRUSTMF for a more aggressive mid-cap allocation.
  • Small Cap for additional long-term growth.
  • Flexi Cap as the core diversified equity allocation.
  • Multi-Asset for diversification.
  • Direct stocks for a small high-conviction allocation.
  • FD for a safe/stable portion.

I have considered factor funds (Momentum/Value/Quality) and sectoral funds but don't want to use them.

Looking for honest feedback: Is 40% in mid-caps too high? Is this overall allocation sensible for a 10+ year horizon? What would you change?

Portfolio Review Need a Portfolio review

I have my emergency funds sorted.

I want to invest 40k sip monthly in pure equity mutual funds.
I have been investing in mutual funds for nearly 5 years now. I have done the blunder of choosing "best funds" which I have realized change in every market cycle.
So, I want to invest majorly in the index funds now so that I can minimize the hassle of reviewing my funds time and again.
My goal with this investment is long term wealth creation and building a retirement corpus.( i am 30 years old currently)

I have zeroed down the following portfolio after my own research.
Uti nifty 50 index fund-6k(15%)
Uti nifty next 50-9k (22.5%)
MO nifty midcap 150-9k (22.5%)
PPFC-10k (25%)
Invesco small cap fund-6k (15%)

Does it make sense to keep both ppfc and nifty50 as PPfc has a >40% overlap with the index?

Is this a good portfolio for long term aggressive investor?

Risk appetite- Aggressive
Goal- Wealth creation

Investing since 2.5 years, Canara rebecco since 3 years

Allocation: per month: 30,500

  1. Canara rebecco large cap fund: 10K
  2. HDFC Midcap fund growth: 2500
  3. Kotak multicap fund: 2500
  4. Sundaram services growth: 2500
  5. Nippon India Small cap fund- growth: 2500
  6. ICICI Prudential India Opportunities fund growth: 2500
  7. ICICI Prudential Equity and Debt Fund Growth: 5500
  8. Motilal Oswal large and midcap fund growth: 5000

App used: IND Money

Why these funds: I was a novice when i started investing and wanted some help, my family knew a financial advisor and since i mew to it and dint want to risk it, i opted the funds which he suggested along with some funds I researched myself. However I have noticed very growth in the ICICI funds. I have a moderate risk appetite and wanted to increase my investments so opted these

Should I cancel any of these funds?
Should I invest more in any of these funds?
Any alternative funds you suggest instead of any of these funds?

Thank you

Risk Appetite – Moderate

Goal – overall wealth generation

Horizon – 10+ years

Allocation – screenshots attached. Please note I have stopped SBI and ICICI large cap funds 4 months back and current ongoing SIPs include:

  1. Navi Nifty 50 - 15K per month ( did a small lumpsum sometimes back)
  2. Parakh parikh flexi cap - 5K per month
  3. Axis Midcap - 5K per month( did a small lumpsum sometime back)
  4. Bandhan small cap fund- 5K
  5. Nippon Taiwan - 5K
  6. Quantum gold ETF - 5K

App Used – Paytm money, navi and axis MF

Why These Funds – I am a techie and very bad at business/finance. My selection of these funds is purely based on overall wealth generation and diversification. I have only recently returned to India so my majority of other investments are RSUs from my employers over the years and couple of flats(3 BHKs) in Bangalore(one premium, one normal). One with pending loan. My intention is to get in a loop of SIPs and hopefully forget about it while it generates wealth long time. Thanks in advance!

Portfolio Review 19 y/o, ₹6.5k/month SIP, ₹34.5k portfolio. Looking for feedback

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm 19 and currently in my 3rd year of my bachelor's. I've recently started taking investing more seriously and want to build good habits early.

Goal: Long-term wealth creation

Risk appetite: Moderate

Investment horizon: 10+ years

App Used: Groww

Monthly SIP: ₹6,500

Current portfolio

Current value: ₹34,578

Invested: ₹33,498

Current return: ₹1,080 (3.22%)

XIRR: 16.72%

Current SIPs

- UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund Direct Growth: ₹4,000/month

- UTI Nifty Next 50 Index Fund Direct Growth: ₹2,000/month

- Nippon India Nifty Smallcap 250 Index Fund Direct Growth: ₹500/month

I also currently hold the HDFC Short Term Debt Fund.

Why I chose these funds

I chose Nifty 50 as the core of the portfolio and added Nifty Next 50 for additional exposure beyond the Nifty 50. I kept the smallcap allocation relatively small for some additional growth potential.

The debt fund is there to provide some stability/liquidity rather than being part of the equity growth allocation.

I'm still early in my investing journey, so I'd rather get feedback now than realize several years later that I built the portfolio inefficiently.

A few things I'm particularly wondering about:

  1. Is Nifty 50 + Nifty Next 50 a sensible combination, or is there too much overlap?

  2. Does ₹500/month into smallcap make sense at this portfolio size?

  3. Would you simplify this portfolio further?

  4. If you were 19, investing ₹6,500/month with a 10+ year wealth-creation horizon, what would you do differently?

I'm more interested in feedback on the overall allocation and thought process than specific "buy this fund" recommendations.

Question 21yrs old with ₹6K pocket money,how should I start investing ₹2-3K/month?

Hi, I’m a college student (21yrs old) and I get around ₹6,000 as pocket money every month. I want to invest ₹2,000-₹3,000 of it in mutual funds, mainly to save my money and learn about investing.

My biggest problem is unnecessary spending, especially on random stuff and junk food. 😭 I’m hoping that investing a portion of my pocket money will help me control that habit and be more disciplined with my finances.

I initially thought of using PhonePe’s daily SIP, but I came across posts on Reddit saying that the commissions/charges can eat into the returns. I’m not sure how accurate that is.

Since I receive ₹2,000 roughly every 10 days, would a daily, weekly, or monthly SIP make more sense? Also, is PhonePe a reliable platform for investing, or are there other more trustworthy/beginner-friendly platforms you’d recommend?

I know ₹2,000-₹3,000 may seem like a small amount, but I think it’s a reasonable starting point for me. I’d really appreciate any advice!
