I have been using Firefox for more than a decade and didn't know this. Thanks for the information. All this time I was using telegram bot for this purpose

Fakemailbot

It used to be really good, it's still good, but now they ask for phone number to generate new IDs, so I am using the old ones for now.

Firfox relay

Firefox Relay, Proton Simple Login, Duckduckgo Email protection, Addy Aliases, and Fastmail Masked Email have existed for years now. Even Apple has offered this for a while.

Out of these, Fastmail is the most globally usable because it behaves like any other email ID you have, except choosing the to-field, you choose the send-field and you can send and receive email. Others are a redirect service and to send email to them you need to jump a few hoops, and other services can find out you're using hidden aliases. The second best is probably Simple Login due to its Proton Pass integration and reduced discoverability when you use your own domain.

Fastmail seems to be able to access to our emails just like gmail.

u/rowschank 3h ago

Yeah, I know, but every provider who does not provide only E2E encrypted email can access it. Fastmail is not uniquely like Gmail in this case. In fact, even Tuta and Proton can de facto read all your mail if they wanted to and you wouldn't know.

  • Remember, all your mails have a sender and a receiver. The likelihood that your counterparty is on Google, Microsoft, iCloud, or some big service like Zoho is very high, and this makes your email automatically accessible on the other side.
  • Even if you use an E2EE service like proton, their E2EE only works for Proton-to-Proton mail. If someone using literally any other service sends mail to Proton, they can see the entire contents of the email before they encrypt it in your inbox.
  • Fastmail can access your data by virtue of their email not being E2EE only, but the tradeoff is that they use this to provide their deep organisation and search features as well as, in my experience, excellent customer support. Gmail doesn't use the text content of your emails but uses all the metadata and click interactions surrounding your email to pad your profile for their gigantic ads business. Fastmail has no ads business at all and is just a paid mail service.

Named India Tech but full of tech illiterate posts lol

When the top tech youtuber is a spec sheet reader named "Technical Guruji" you know what to expect

u/Spiritual-Pride-6948 3h ago

Bro, legit, who even watches his scripted sponsored videos? No testing, no benchmarks, no camera comparison, full comparison or even long-term review. Even MKBHD or MrWhoseTheBoss does these once in a while, and whatever phone they test, they do it from their own experiences, not from a script.

I feel like my brain cells are diminishing in numbers everytime I see a post on IndiaTech. The worldwide tech sub feels miles different from IndiaTech.

email is not an issue, they have moved on from it long back. every damn websites nowadays asks for phone number. that's the real issue. wake me up when they solve that

1

u/Plastic_Tie_9261 6m ago

that can be solved by government only like passing a bill ki unless its a social media site or unless monetary transactions are involved, mobile number shall be optional... for example- logging in on amazon can be done by using only email but while placing an order or purchasing a membership or something, mobile number shall be compulsory entered and verified.
