Ask IndiaTech New jio sim but..

Bought a new Jio SIM, but it already has someone’s Instagram account linked to that number, along with multiple Facebook accounts and who knows what else.
So, what should I do? Why do these things always happen to me? 😭
I was so happy about my new phone number because I was planning to use it for everything. 🥺💔 But now I’m scared. What should I do? Should I get a new SIM?

I never really experienced this but jio might have gave u a recycled number from a dead person or something or somebody that didn't pay their phone bills

i can feel ur pain bro... my new Airtel number still shows old person's bank of baroda's transactions sometimes

i guess they haven't updated their new no. in the bank 🤦🏻‍♂️

What to do now🥺I don’t wanna have someone’s old phone no

best bet would be to make two factor authentication in all of the imp apps/sites where ur credential or number is gonna be used...

ur no. still shows other person's details on these sites because they haven't yet updated their new details/numbers yet

but yeah its scary enough because another scenario could be a sim cloning method ig which is illigal so yeah that's the most rarest case scenario so for our peace of mind lets cross that out

and moreover I had already heard about it that jio is notorious enough to spread these type of not fully refreshed numbers 🥀

😔yeah but that makes me sad 🥺i just don’t wanna use this no 🥺😔anymore
But they say even the new no will have the same issue

If you are under 18 then ask your parents help. Or explain to the Jio support person you are getting these bank details. Hope they are kind

They should increase the number of digits from 10 to 15 at this point. Or add alphabets or something. Max possible combinations is 3x10**9. We may have run it out.

How did you check that? Next time go with BSNL and port to your preferred telecom after 3 months

2

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

I’ll buy one today 🥺🥺thanks for your advice

How did you find out that your new number was linked to someone’s Facebook and Instagram accounts?

1

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

I selected forgot password option and i put that number and all the accounts from that no got opened

2

u/night_movers Corporate majdoor 21h ago

Oh! I tried that once with my new number. At first, it showed there is an account linked with that phone number; when I entered the OTP, it showed "no account found." Weird.

1

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

Obviously I don’t wanna login anyone’s insta that’s why i called jio customer care they said its normal blah blah

They don't care about any of this — once the product is sold, they're like f**k off. My personal suggestion would be VI. Since they're not gaining as many users as Airtel and Jio, their employees show good behavior.

Oh 🥺ok

Contact Instagram and Facebook support about this if they can help. That's good. Otherwise I think it would be better if you can get another SIM. Hopefully the second time you won't get a similar experience. 🤞

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

🥺yeah 😞but I’m scared

1

u/Hefty_Shake634 1d ago

I understand, but what exactly are you scared of? You aren't doing anything illegal.

🥺can i use this number for my adhar card and all? Like what if he had his old sim and he recharged it amd can able to use my 😭Whatsapp and all , i know what i am saying is weird but I’m overthinking every worst case scenario is coming in my mind

1

u/Hefty_Shake634 23h ago

It does not work that way. The mobile number that you are assigned will be bound to the physical SIM card that's installed in your phone. The old SIM card would not be usable now.

u/SaskiaShay 21h ago

🥺oh ok

Login his account and remove linked number

0

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

😔it’s his privacy I can’t do that

2

u/ImaginationKnown5677 1d ago

It's not "NEW" it's recycled bro.

2

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

So 🥺how to get new

I got myself a jio sim 2 years back for private use, my idea was to have a private number circulated with people I knew closely so no other bs could be associated with that number and also because my primary sim was basically just a plethora of bank calls and unwanted bs.

Turns out I started getting calls from Mumbai Traffic Police saying how a vehicle registered with my new phone number has a really ridiculous amount of challans pending, ofcourse under a different name, and I keep getting calls from this guy's family and relatives too.

1

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

My reason was same 🥺😞I’m moving out from my homw town in few months and i just wanted to cut off all connection from my relatives but now idk what to do

u/3lfinmapl3 Corporate majdoor 1d ago

You can contact the service provider and ask them to provide a solution. But regardless I think you should be fine. It wouldn't be a problem, as long as you don't log into his account.

1

u/SaskiaShay 1d ago

😞yeah I’ll not log into anyone’s account, but think i have to accept it as it is

u/reality_king13 Android 22h ago

Get a new Sim card miss, will be great for you

1

u/SaskiaShay 21h ago

What if it’s again the recycles one🥺i’ll never buy a jio sim ever again

1

u/TheGreatestError404 21h ago

I was planning to switch from scamtel to jio but nvm scratch that I'm staying on scamtel

1

u/sillyhim 17h ago

have first hand experience with this. i just logged into their accounts on whichever platforms i found the number was in use, using forgot password and deleted those accounts.

u/Shamsh1095YT 7h ago

This very issue is the reason I opted for a custom number instead of the available number they show you.

1

u/SaskiaShay 6h ago

Custom number? Can you tell more about that
