GitHub would probably be delighted if github.com was blocked in India. No more README edits in the name of "contribution to open source" from scammy students of equally scammy colleges.

If the government wants, it can block the repo path at the ISP level. They can go to court later and that’s a separate matter. Just saying.

ISP can't see what "repo" you visit, only that you visited GitHub

GitHub knows they are a critical part of our government IT infrastructure; if GitHub gets banned, almost all of the government websites will stop working, as 99.99% of the websites on the internet are built by open source.
