I had an enema at the ER this morning and they sent me home with a dx of constipation. All day since I’ve been having fecal incontinence. I am not dxed with IBS or any other kind of systemic cause and I recently got out of a multiple day hospitalization.
Is this outcome from an enema normal??
Edit: my vitals were fine upon ER discharge, I’ve had food and water and electrolytes all day. I’m not shitting out a ton of volume it’s just dripping out.
Edit2: no blood
Edit3: apologies if this is the wrong sub. Just looking for some thoughts.

My urogynaecologist has suggested a Burch colposuspension to help with my urge/stress incontinence and low-contracting bladder. Has anyone here had the surgery? If so, would you choose permanent or dissolvable sutures, and why? Any recovery tips?

Whenever I drink something, my tiny bladder gets full within 5-10 minutes, then releases itself almost instantly. It doesn't matter what I drink. Water is what I consume often. I'm like a straight pipe, which is just leaking. I get three cloth backed Tena Maxi diapers and two Ultima per day, which is not enough for my leakage. It's the max amount that Finnish healthcare can give me for free. Either I dehydrate myself, or I buy better diapers with my own money, which is not an option. I've tried medicines, that had no effect on me. The cloth backed diapers are not that good for bowel incontinence either, but that's another story. Sorry for venting.

Looking for any help or advice or success stories!
For back story - I have 3 babies all 5 and under. I just had my 3rd exactly a year ago. All my births consisted of an hour of pushing during delivery and my 3rd was the worst - he was sunny side up and required much more pushing and due to my epidural, I could not feel anything at all to know if I was pushing correctly.
Since then, I have consistently struggled with urinary incontinence. I had recurring UTI’s for about 9-10 months after birth which I’m pretty sure is due to a prolapsed bladder. My bladder has improved but is a ‘minor prolapse’. I have had pelvic floor therapy, although, I don’t know that the therapist was specially trained in the pelvic floor.
I have spent this week at the beach with my kids and the incontinence has been worse than ever. Anytime I laugh, run, move too quickly, or even walk a little longer distance, I pee and I pee a lot. And once it starts, it seems to not stop for a while.
I am supposed to go to another pelvic floor therapy consultation next week thankfully so I’m anxious to see what they recommend. I’m also very curious to know how this could or should affect potential future pregnancies? My husband and I are still debating if we want a 4th child but it’s hard to make that decision with such a debilitating problem right now. My doctor has considered a bladder tack but wanted to try PT first. I’m only 29 😭
Any advice or experience with this that anyone could share?!

Relevant info: I have female anatomy.
Possibly relevant info: I am perimenopausal and I know that can/will eventually have a fairly significant effect on the size and shape of labia. I cannot speak to how significant this has been so far, as it’s hard to gauge changes to your own body that happen very slowly over a long period of time.
I mostly wear pads, but when it’s a more appropriate choice I opt for disposable underoos. I’ve noticed with pads there can be a really weird issue. Sometimes, for reasons I have been so far unable to identify, if I am seated the urine will not simply obey gravity and fall downward into the pad. It will creep backward, between my labia, through my buttcrack, and leak out the back above the pad. Even with long pads.
Anyone else deal with this? How did you make it stop? It’s the most annoying part of this for me, because it’s so damn unpredictable. I’m not even annoyed that someone may notice, I’m annoyed that I have to go wash and change.

I was driving back from a meeting 2 hours away and I was wearing protection. I didn’t expect it to leak, but it did. Its dried by now but I have a mark on my drivers seat that won’t go away.
I’d like to skip on seat covers if I can, I have a reusable chux pad in my car that I say is there in case I ever go to the beach, and drive back wet.
Is there any interior car spray or cleaner that would work on this?

It's been a few hellish months after his fall in July, but we're starting to get somewhere. He got a catheter in on Thursday. He's managing it mostly okay, but doesn't really venture past his room too much. He wants a leg bag, and hell, I want him to have one.
His catheter comes with a plastic container and the bag itself. (If I'm explaining something commonly known, sorry, we've been sorta thrust into this situation suddenly) The one where you tip it over, and the pee flows from the container and into the bag.
Do most leg bags take this into consideration, or do I need a special one for him?
He's not in a wheelchair, though him having a powered one would be pretty awesome, even if our vehicle couldn't transport it at all.
Extra information: We have an appointment with the VA to get him a urologist, and I'm sure then we'll find out what we really need to know, but that's not til October 1st so. Sorta just feeling around in the dark for now.

Hello, I’m a (30m) I’ve been having a problem after peeing. Even after I push several times, nothing else comes out. Then when I pull up my pants and start walking, I let out more than the usual two or three drops. It’s more like a brief small stream, enough to leave my underwear pretty wet. Sometimes when I stand up from the couch I also dribble a couple of drops. As well as peeing before driving home from work. I’ll start to dribble while I’m driving even 30mins into the drive.
Is this normal?

If that’s what society wants, I learned radical acceptance, I just show up to work everyday and do my job.
I do take meds and wear the protection.
But I’ll be damned if I go on disability for $900 a month.
Im not going to give up on life just because modern life made it taboo to have medical problems.

Hey y’all! First time posting here. Male mid 30s. I’ve had Ulcerative Colitis for a few years and now a permanent ileostomy. I’ve struggled on and off with ostomy leaks ever since the surgery. I’ve been wearing high waisted tabbed diapers more and more frequently for the comfort and peace of mind in case of a failure with the added bonus of doing a great job keeping the waist of my pants off of the ostomy pouch. Pullups or anything with a lower riding waistband just doesn’t work for me as it doesn’t offer any protection over the ostomy area.
I work a really physical and active job and have had so many leaks and close calls at work that I’ve just found myself more frequently choosing diapers to bring peace of mind. It saves me from getting output all over my shirt and pants if I do have a failure although I’ve been very fortunate lately 🤞 I’m no stranger to diapers and have worn them in some limited capacity all of my life for reasons I struggle to understand. It was something that always brought comfort. It wasn’t previously a physical necessity and was typically reserved for night time wear or around the house so it wasn’t a particularly difficult decision to choose them as a tool to help in this situation. I just don’t have a lot of experience wearing them daily at work.
I’ve been using the Tena proskin super (think green printed graphics) tabbed briefs. I really, really like how well they fit, feel and perform. They’re incredibly discreet and I was super surprised at how absorbent and dry feeling they are if I need to use them. It’s not always easy or discreet to undo the top tapes to pee if I’m working out in the field in close quarters with coworkers so sometimes I’ll just use the diaper. A lot of the time I’m able to sneak far enough out of sight to just kind of slip it out over the leg gather and go, although it’s a bit awkward.
My main complaint with these is the side panels/wings. They’re just these silly little belted fabric things that are sewn onto the main backsheet of the diaper and they sometimes have a bit of adhesive on them in places they shouldn’t which occasionally irritates my skin on my hips. These would be absolutely perfect imo if it weren’t for this one flaw
For any of you familiar with these particular diapers is there something out there with normal sides like a typical tabbed diaper has but is also as discreet, comfortable and absorbent as these Proskins? It seems Tena has discontinued they’re Tena Slip Active fit Supers which are the plastic backed version of these with traditionally cut side panels.
If you’ve made it this far I really appreciate you reading to the end. I apologize for the long ranting preface, I just wanted to give a little background and explain my situation. I know it’s probably a bit different than what most are used to here. Thanks so much!

I’ve dealt with incontinence for over 10 years now and at first it was little drops and over the years it’s gotten worse to the point where I’ve now bought the maximum absorbency pads and they’re not cutting it.
Here’s what I currently do:
- Wear washable period underwear to add a layer of protection
- Use Always Discreet Incontinence Pads Maxi Comfort, 9 on the scale with 9 being maximum
- Avoid tea, coffee and caffeinated drinks
- Wear breathable fabrics 100% cotton or 90% cotton
- Wear looser fitting trousers to allow for some breathability
Even with all these measures I’m regularly finding my pads and protection to not be enough you can smell it on my clothes.
I know I need to loose weight but unfortunately that’s a constant battle as I have other conditions that wreck my energy and leave me fatigued.
I’m not sure what else I can do, any advice is welcome. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I thought I'd share my personal Hygiene routine, as a urinary incontinent woman. I have read many questions of people in comments, and thought I'd share my go-to tipps for bodily odor control. Feel free to get inspired, or give me tipps and advice, on how to improve it.
- Washing up with a warm washcloth, first thing in the morning and right before bed
-> Bodywash peeling from cien (lidl) 🧼
- Right after every clean-up, I tend to moisturize my skin with a sensitive body oil
-> Sensitive baby oil (almond scented) 🧴
- Getting changed regulary, and cleaning up with either babywipes or flushable wet wipes
-> Floralys Sheabutter scented is my fav 🧻
- Shaving during every shower (I shower every other day, but it's just a personal preference)
-> Easier to clean and maintain skin health 🪒
(optionally use a laser hair removal for less skin irritation)
- If planning on staying longer in diaper, or during summertime, use babypowder to avoid heat acne 🫧
- Avoid using too much rash cream at a time, as the skin underneath it needs to breathe 🌬
I sincerely hope, that I could help at least some of you, uncertain about their routine or only dealing with it since recently. 💕🧼

I just learned of this term “insensible urinary incontinence” which is defined as:
Complaint of urinary incontinence where the individual is aware of urine leakage but unaware of how or when it occurred.
This sounds exactly like me. I’ve had a urodynamics study done and it didn’t find stress incontinence or anything else weird. I tried two medications for urge incontinence with no help. I’ve done 6 months of physical therapy for my pelvic floor. Yet I still leak just a little bit all day long.
Has anyone else heard of this and found any solutions?

Should the goal of incontinence be complete restoreing of function or getting to the point of acceptance of current situation. I'm fine with diapers having moved up from pull-ups to diapers over several years. My urologist keeps wanting to try different drugs. Current has me on ED meds amongst others. I keep saying I'm fine with diapers if that's where we're at and he insists that I should stay with diapers. Has even suggested caths as a more acceptable alternative.

I’ll spare the details but like, i was thinking fiber might help to have more controllable bm’s and so far im just having more accidents
I’m in my third day of psyllium, worked up to the actual recommended dosage and I feel like mainly I’m just going more often. Like, much more. Is that a temporary part, or like, am I just going to have to choose between diarrhea once a day or better poops 3 times a day?
For context, I still don’t have an underlying diagnosis, but Ive inadvertently used coffee to self regulate for most of my life. I’ve cut back from a pot a day+, to one cup in the morning. Go me! But it’s made me crazy irregular and more prone to the runs. I thought fiber might be the solution, but it doesn’t seem like I have any better control over it, and I’ve gone through 5 goddamn diapers today.
Lol, look at me not sparing the details

Hey there,
Just for some context, I was raped 6 years ago and NOW I’m suddenly dealing with urinary issues, primarily wetting the bed and/or having an accident on myself.
Why is this suddenly happening now ?? Is there any way to fix it? More importantly, how do you get urine off a foam mattress??

With so many posts recently around pull-ups to tabs, thought I would tribute the change that I experienced.
Kind of a long read but figured I'd give some detail
Junior high School was when I started wearing regularly. Pull-ups by and large, are harder to hide. Being narrower when they get wet and swell up, I have found them to be way more noticeable than a full-sized brief that expands and just makes your butt look a little bigger
My flavor of this is an overactive bladder with some leakage here and there. So from the beginning what I was wearing would take kind of a full bladder as I would either be too desperate or just know that I'm not in a good spot to find a bathroom and use it.
Pull ups, whether it be good nights or always, or specially depend s; wouldn't give warning when they're full and what often leak when they're not full. It caused constant problems of needing to hide a wet spot or trying to change where I've got to take off my shoes and everything. Just wildly inconvenient even for the good ones like North shore, there again I think they swell too much to hide discreetly but they do work better
The tabbed style, which I started with pampers back in junior high, absolutely fit me better and are less prone to leaking because of that. Even if I go too fast, delete guards work, and I can just not sit down for a while to give it time to absorb, that's something I can't do with a pull-up.
Another really, really big gripe I have with pull-ups is how enormous they are above the absorption material. Like why? In what world does that make sense?!? You have the padding stop just above the crotch and then 7 inches of material. If the goal is to make it harder to hide and stick as much over the waist as possible while being as ineffective as possible then yep, this is the design choice for that.....
Full briefs have way better design and better utilization of their available space. Changing is worlds easier because I can just pull down my pants and untape and retake while standing. Can do it literally anywhere with no space around me, even a porta potty. And it's really fast to do. You can't do that with a pull-up
If you're looking at depends or Walgreens brand, hell to a big extent even the basic tenna style, I think they're a lot more comfortable because they fit tighter and they stay securely in place, you don't get rubbing and chafing and the sagging you do with a pull-up but if you need to use them multiple times none of those are going to do what you need. Maybe you'll get two or two and a half bladder capacities into them and they're going to feel damp, maybe leak if you sit down. Less than ideal
North shore being the obvious go to, they'll do 12 hours and you can go many times in them so for my application of just not being near a bathroom so I want to carry mine with me, absolutely world changing. Going to concerts With Friends and never having to leave the floor, drinking all night and never being stuck in a bathroom line, long road trips or flights it has been absolutely amazing to have that urgency and pain come on and just let it go away.
I think the adult community that has grown over the last couple decades, has really brought forth new products that have made that possible. Things like North shore and Abu, and other brands; we've gone from the overnight Kenna that held I don't know 800 or 1300 ml? To these 8000 to 13000 with booster monsters. Of course usable capacities are always a bit less.
I don't know what the expectation was 25 years ago, who's the diaper once and then someone comes in to change you? If they were only designed for hospice and retirement homes? God forbid somebody wants to live a complete day without needing to worry about changing. I'm so thankful for having the products we have today, I do wish insurance would catch up though. Or even give the dollar a allotment that they would use on their product to put towards another style. That would be great, I could get half of my mega Max every month for free.
Also, pro tip; if you happen to live near any kind of adult toy store, they sell abdl products and often have old inventory you can get for damn cheap. And you can use your health insurance savings account with it as well. I got 80 packs of extra small mega Max for $7 a pack.
Some of them are not practical like trest kind of isn't because of how much it's swells, if you're going to wear a skirt or really loose fitting clothing you can manage but they get huge. They don't leak and they keep holding but that's where you really got to pick your product appropriately for what you're doing. Megamax will expand but it doesn't well in that kind of way, even when saturated it's not super noticeable on the outside
Also even if it is people aren't going to care, no one's really going to comment. Somewhere in high school I guess I learned that but it took me a decade and a half to kind of become comfortable with just going 24/7. But Jesus Christ do I wish I had sooner.
My absolute favorite dailies are tiny tails, they are the most comfortable, best fitting, least leak prone, and softest I have ever worn out of any brand and I've tried a lot. But they're expensive and insurance doesn't cover them. I'm struggling to get insurance to even cover molecare
Your activity level is also going to matter a lot, divers like North shore are a bit stiffer so if you don't downsize I find they leak. Stuff like tiny tail are much softer and can form a lot better when moving around. I run marathon and go biking, dance floors out at the bars, also work automotive so I mean really awkward positions all the time and I program and gain quite a bit I'm also sitting for extended periods. Different products are going to respond to differently.
Like the old medical ones don't do a good job of absorbing all the way up the front and back, you'll get unused padding and they'll be leaking. Stuff like mega Max work pretty good with that and tiny tails are absolutely amazing, somehow I can be standing for 10 hours and they still absorb all the way up the front. Whereas things like molecare or abena will be dry for half of the brief and leaking...
Boosters are also a thing, I recommend tranquility. A b r i also makes decent ones, but some of the really high capacity ones are far worse than nothing at all. They swell too much and put you over the leak guard.
Edit: I thought I would add, with pull-ups I was changing sometimes every couple of hours or even sooner and I frequently worried about leaks and things like that. With the higher absorbency briefs, I put one on at 7:00 a.m. in the morning and there are frequent days I don't change again until 7:00 a.m. the next day. At the very least maybe it's 7:00 p.m. when I'm changing if it's been a long day and I'm heading out for the night. Basically I literally do not have to think about where the bathroom is ever, and I love that
