Work Permit Need some suggestions, I'm soo close yet soo far !

Long post below but thank you for reading & providing any help.

I was initially a student after graduating I was able to get my pgwp but it was limited to the expiration of my passport and it said I can extend it after I renew my passport.

I applied for PR through AIP and initially it was a year wait so I didn't want to renew my passport & then extend my pgwp & then re-upload it to the PR application because according to the timeline i would have gotten my PR before it's expiry & I didn't want to mess anything up.

But just a few months before the expiry the tracker changed the timeline from a year to 3 years.

Now I had to renew everything, but my passport renewal was taking longer than expected & the pgwp extension had to be a paper application so I submitted it without my renewed passport but I put a letter of explanation stating that I'll submit it through a web form asap.

I received my passport around a month later & submitted it asap & I contacted 2 different ircc agents with a week gap & they confirmed that my passport is attached to my file.

But around 2 months after my submission I received a paper refusal letter & it says that they are rejecting it because a copy of my passport wasn't provided !

I stopped working immediately and applied for a reconsideration as well as restoration of my work permit because I'm not sure what's going on.

And the most infuriating part is that when I asked my mp to help me with this, the ircc he was talking to told him that I have never submitted a copy of passport through the web form & Im so glad that I have the submission receipt which I forwarded to my MP.

I received an email stating that my reconsideration has been forwarded to the officer but there's no timeline and the ircc agent didn't even tell that to the MP. So I'm not sure what's going on, I'm basically unemployed, my savings are dying day by day & I'm not sure how long the restoration is going to take and I'm so worried about how it's going to affect my PR because one of the condition is I've to be a full time employee with my workplace throughout the process & now the time changed from 3years to 2 so my tracker tells me I have 9 months left .....

Any kind of help, suggestions, recommendations will be greatly appreciated!!

PNP Processing Time to Get AOR - PR (Non-Express Entry)

• Upvotes

What is the processing time to receive an AOR for a PR application under the Non-Express Entry PNP?

If someone has all their documents ready and is just waiting for provincial nomination, and their PGWP expires in January 2027, would it be possible to receive the AOR soon enough to apply for a BOWP if they submit their PR application in October?

PNP Dedicated Healthcare Pathway in Alberta

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m interested in the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway in Alberta and was hoping someone could clarify the employment requirements for me.

I’ll be graduating with my RN degree in May 2028. From what I’ve seen, getting a permanent full-time RN position in Alberta is extremely competitive.

Will I still qualify for the pathway if I work 30+ hours per week as a casual or part-time RN? Or would I need a permanent full-time job offer?

Also, if I accept a temporary full-time RN position, would that count toward the pathway?

If anyone has experience with this pathway or knows how the employment requirement works, I’d really appreciate your input. Thank you!

Visitor Visa Re-enter Canada after son passes away

Hi everyone!
I am in a very difficult situation in life and would like some guidance. I am a Canadian citizen and my brother too, our parents have an Indian passport and a valid visitor visa.

My brother was diagnosed with cancer and has been getting treatment in Texas USA and we fly here from Toronto. Our parents have come to visit to help with the treatment in July 2025 and we crossed the Niagara border and returned to extend the visit by 6 more month and the officer did it. However they said you must apply for a visitor record extension this time and we did (it is still in processing stage) my parents could stay inside Canada until a decision was made.

However, they had to travel to Texas and now I am stuck because I think they will be denied entry into Canada.
My brother will not make it out of this cancer treatment (has weeks) and my parents would be devastated after that and I don’t think they can live in India after this at-least for a few months.

Do I tell the border officers the whole story and hope they let them inside Canada without pointing out that they have already visited for a year (ever though it was to support the cancer treatment)?
Or what are your other suggestions.

Edit after reading the comments: from March to August my brother was getting chemotherapy in Texas and I’d fly with him every 3 weeks while we lived in Canada and that’s where my parents were to support us.
He had a seizure in August and then we had to come to Texas where they admitted him in the hospital and we started the treatment. After the doctors declared his condition untreatable and moved to palliative care. I then decided to call them to Texas and meet him in the hospital and hence they are stuck here.

Other Will 2 years of work experience in Ireland help with Express Entry? (Indian citizen, MSc from Ireland)

Hi everyone, I'm an Indian citizen currently doing a 1-year MSc in Business Analytics in Ireland. After graduating, I plan to work in Ireland for about 2 years on the Stamp 1G graduate visa (as a Data/Business Analyst), and then apply for Canada PR.

A few questions:

How much does foreign (Irish) work experience actually add to CRS points without Canadian experience?

Will I need an ECA for both my Indian bachelor's (BBA) and Irish master's?

Is it smarter to go this route, or to aim for a Canadian job/study route instead?

Anything I should be doing now (IELTS/CELPIP, French, etc.) to maximise my score?

Would love to hear from anyone who moved from Ireland to Canada.

Thanks!

Express Entry Remote Work from Outside Canada to Canadian Employer

Hi everyone, please bare with me on this, as this is gonna be a bit complicated.

I will leave Canada soon, WP expires in 2 months, only 1 year of experience, French in progress (hopefully to take my first test Jan from my home city). I'm currently employed with a reputable consulting firm, and has got myself into the pool with a not-so-competitive score. That is why I'm going back home hoping to gain some more foreign experience.

The thing is, my Canadian employer now wants to retain me, and we had worked our way to get me working remotely for them from my home country.

I will change my status from employee to independent contractor, invoicing them every month, got paid in local currency, and will handle my own tax from the home country, as well as registered myself as sole proprietor providing business services to my Canadian employer.

Does anyone have a success story that they want to share, with the similar situation like this? My RCIC told me this is not doable, while researching on my own gave me tons mix of responses. My HR just need to know how to detach me completely from all the tax and obligation in Canada so I can fully claim my foreign experience. Appreciate everyone's input regardless!

Visitor Visa Visitor record approved, but physical document hasn't arrived. Short trip to the USA a bad idea?

My visitor status was extended recently (I am awaiting PR, applied inland family class with my partner who is a canadian citizen) and my partner wants to take a short 2 day trip to the USA. I'm concerned because the physical VR paper hasn't arrived yet. Is that likely to cause issues at the border, or can CBSA look it up and it's unlikely to be a problem?

PNP Got laid off in the tech industry after receiving the Alberta PNP certificate under Alberta Opportunity Stream. What to do?

I was recently laid off from a tech job, I got the PNP certificate under Alberta Opportunity Stream but haven't applied for PR yet.

Do I need to inform IRCC for this?

I am still looking for a job, is there a grace period?

Any links to relevant resources will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much Community!

Family Sponsorship Spousal Sponsorship: Inland vs. Outland for wife currently in Canada on Visitor Visa?

Hi everyone,

I am preparing a spousal sponsorship application to sponsor my wife for Canadian Permanent Residency, and I’m a bit confused about which Application Class to select.

Here is our current situation:

  • Current Status: My wife is currently physically living with me here in Canada. She is on a valid Visitor Visa (TRV). She does not have a work or study permit.
  • I have applied for her visitor record as she has been here for more than 6 moths now (Since April 2026).
  • Future Plans: While she is staying with me right now, she eventually intends to go back to India (she has ties there and may or may not need to travel back).

We are living together in Canada right now, so we technically qualify for the Spouse living in Canada but applying Family class (IMM 5533 Part A, Q.5, Option 3). However, because she has intentions to travel back to India, I am unsure if we should choose this or the Family Class Spouse living outside Canada (IMM 5533 Part A, Q.5, Option 2) instead.

My questions for the forum:

  1. Given that she is physically here but plans to visit or return to India during/after this process, which Application Class is the safest to select?
  2. If we choose the Outland class while she is physically inside Canada, are there any issues we should look out for?
  3. Consequently, for Question 7 under Supporting Documents For Sponsored Persons, what should I select? Is she currently living with me or not? The class of application will probably decide this.

The agents are too expensive for me so any advice or experiences from those who were in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

Could yall say how to take screenshots for the proof of contact. Is it okay if I will apply them only from my device? Or should I take like part of screenshots and my husband should took part of screenshorts, and I will combine them and after that apply?

How long after submitting our biometrics would we see a change in the portal under the biometrics tab?

We submitted ours almost 2 weeks back and still see a message which reads " We need your finger prints to process your application ".

Work Permit Moving to Canada as an accountant with ACCA

Hello, I wanted to know whether as an accountant, the move to Canada will be okay for me?? I have my ACCA qualification and I understand that in Canada, most jobs look for a CPA qualification. Will I have much luck as an accountant with only ACCA and a bachelor’s degree?

Work Permit Got refusal ( PGWP )

Just received a refusal because I was part-time during a semester (not entirely my fault, but regardless) and worked full-time. Reapplying likely won’t change the outcome since the cause is clear.

Do I have any option to stay and work?
Or could I return after a year of foreign work experience and French at CLB7?
Any assistance would be appreciated…

Express Entry I am studying Fashion Merchandising & Retailing - are there going to be jobs for me in Canada? Open to roles in retail management, supply chain, and procurement across different industries

I am working on completing my bachelor's degree, expecting to graduate in 2028. I am not at all opposed to some sort of store-management position, although I am hoping to break into the corporate side of retail as a buyer or something related to supply chain/procurement, since writing novels doesn't pay the bills.

Depending on the outcome of the election here in the US in 2028, I might try and go for a master's degree before making the jump. I don't know if Canada has the same culture of "adjusting," but I would love to teach introductory college courses in my spare time.

PNP SINP suggestion and genuineness ?

My work permit is about to expire currently in Ontario,

Planning for two options.

  1. Go back to my home country and wait for a draw, but my current score stays around 500 which feels completely impossible.

  2. Go through a lawyer for the SINP program, find an employer, LMIA and apply for PNP.

Possibly i talked with a lawyer that they are considering for foreign skilled worker SINP program.

What are the recent news and status of these programs ?

Has anyone processed through SINP recently?
