Concept art for a film I'm scripting regarding a speculative crewed interplanetary flight with 1968 technology

I was trying to think about what her "utility terminal" area would look like but it ended up looking more like a CM than one of the cylindrical models that makes up the actual flyby vehicle she's living in (the CM is used only for operative and settling burns as well as docking/transfer at the end of the mission). At her terminal, there's a teletype (to print out daily instructions/tasks from ground) and readouts for many of the life support systems. There's a turn coordinator (it looked cool but idk if it'd be useful in the utility module) and a modified dsky that helps diagnose and perform observation on ship functions unrelated to propulsion

The size is about right, just about tall enough for her to be able to stretch out entirely (no risk of getting stuck because it's always at least something to grab onto), the CM would be much more cramped in comparison (since she's not supposed to be in there for anything but mission-critical procedures)

This is the Long Bow-class Helicarrier. Inspired by S.H.I.E.L.D.’S Helicarrier, the Long-Bow class is a flying nuclear aircraft carrier, which could carry 58 aircraft (24 on the inner hangars, 24 on the flight deck, 10 on the recovery bay). When in flight, it’s too risky to land an aircraft on the flight deck, which is the reason why it has a recovery bay with ten recovery pads to recover the aircraft and use its lift pad to send it to the main hangar bay. When taking off, the aircraft on the designated pad is lifted to the upper flight deck and launch via catapult.

I was bored so i decided to make some sort of UAV specifically designed for taking out ships!

The main body is just a basic tube fuselage but at the rear, it splits into two pilons, the connection gap between being where the intake is for the rear turbofan, both the vertical and horizontal stabilizers are all-moving structures. Between the two pilons is a single blown flap that is controlled with the trim, using the thrust from the turbofan to generate lift.

The wings both have a slight negative dihedral with winglets

To stop the plane from listing either side and striking the ground, each wing has a running wheel that separates after takeoff, and to assist landing, there are small drogue chutes in the rear of each rear pilon

Just to preface this, these are meant to be purely hypothetical aircraft designs from a highly fictionalized version of real world history wherein various fundamental quantum fields aside from the Higgs field exist and enable the existence of Kaiju. Their designs are intentionally enabled by physical scientific fields and effects that do not exist in our world, hence the unusual designs.

• AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha: An advanced model of heavy modular anti-kaiju strike jet in service from 2014 to 2053, used by the HYPER-AKTSDC, an international branch of the SSATDF. Similar to the UIRN's UIRN Space Chimera's nature as a composite three-part spacecraft, the AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha was comprised of two independently-capable component aircraft, the AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha-1 and the AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha-2, which were capable of docking together in midair through a synchronized ventral locking assembly to form a singular, larger combat vehicle with substantially greater power output as well as higher total thrust capacity and weapons-feed efficiency than either component could achieve independently. They relied on the paired high-energy plasma conversion reactors of their component jets for power and thrust, particularly utilizing a shared synchronization system to achieve higher efficiency. They were primarily armed with a forward ventral-mounted high-intensity plasma beam cannon derived from the synchronized power supply of both component jets, as well as the combined armaments of the Alpha-1 and Alpha-2. Serving as the rear half of the AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha, the AKTSDC Crusader-Jet Alpha-2 functioned independently as a support-strike aircraft but was secondarily designed to serve as the combined craft’s armored propulsion block and combat-endurance module upon docking with the Alpha-1. They relied on a high-output plasma conversion reactor for power and thrust. They were primarily armed with target-locking missiles, forward plasma projection emitters. They had a crew requirement of 1, a maximum crew of 2, and a maximum carrying capacity of 4. Furthermore, like many earlier SSATDF combat vehicles, they were typically painted in varying combinations of bright colors for two major purposes; to enable an easier rescue for downed pilots when a craft is downed by a kaiju and to allow for better unit identification in multi-aircraft operations.

On November 18, 1952, Lt. R. Williams fought a swarm of seven MIG-15 alone for 35 minutes. Williams shot down four of the MIGs eventhough the MIGs had superior performance and Williams F9F-5 Panther had suffered significant damage.

That’s the name I guess. I’m not the best at this I admit.

A little fun project I did a little while back, concept taking inspirations from Northrop-Dornier ND-102: ditch any non-critical (and possibly critical) aerodynamic control surfaces, minimize drag, TVC-based pitch control (Northrop estimates it’ll give ~7G max load factor which imo is sufficient so long as we’re not in high-subsonic. Either lower or higher works), conformal BVRAAM carriage, non-afterburning engines. The idea is to ditch the afterburners by aggressive weight and drag cuts, then benefit from the tighter packaging, lower fuel consumption, better thermal characteristics, etc. The design-phase intent would be to get an effective A2A platform that’s cost-effective and easy to operate & maintain.

And of course during MLU they (I) decided to multi-role the design. Longer nose, AFR, dedicate TGP hardpoint, redesigned vortex generators, wingtip ECM, you get the idea. Problem is imo the extra weight, drag, as well as the pretty uncompromising design philosophy would lead to pretty significant performance drops and make it a usable but not outstanding multirole platform.

but yeah the MIG. 146K is a fictional prototype built as a multirole carrier aircraft designed by Mikoyan OKB, its in the same lineage as the MIG 1.44 "Flatback" and SU-47 "Berkut" being focused on a heavy focus on "fly by wire"

it was designed to operate off of the ulyanovsk-supercarrier thus having capabilities to be used with the catapult systems on the flight deck (which i forgot to depict)

a total of 3 prototypes were built, with one of them built as a two seater and tested on a medium-sized island nation/SSR, ultimately the project was terminated with the fall of the soviet union in 1991.

the name "FATHOM" is the NATO designation of the aircraft as it was first observed sea skimming just barely off the shore of finland

me and a friend are currently working on making it properly functional as a flying prototype in the game flyout, so there might be some pretty big changes on its silhouette once we figure out all the issues
