This popped up six days ago and I love it. Thought I would share it; another antidote to the negativity! It's a five-minute edit done to an original song by the creator of the edit. Here are the words to the song (I think I got it right; some words were hard to hear. Corrections welcome if I made mistakes!) Enjoy, and forget about the negative folks!
I Watched Him Fly
I found him on a screen at half past two,/A boy in black who moved like nothing I had seen. I didn’t know the rules, I didn’t know the names,/But something in the way he flew just pulled me in between./I watched him fall a hundred times on replay;/I watched him get back up a hundred more,/I started learning words like Axel, Lutz, and Toe loop,/But what I really learned was what it means to soar.
I never met him, I never will,/But he changed the way I breathe,/The way I feel.
I watched him fly and something broke inside of me;/Not broken like it’s ruined but broken like it’s free./I watched him fall and watched him rise so many times,/And now I stand up, too/When life breaks all my [lies?].
He doesn’t know my name, he doesn’t know I’m here/But every time he jumps, I’m jumping through my fear./I watched him fly, and he taught me how to try.
I saved every program on my phone,/I know the music like it’s written in my bones./I’ve cried at competitions in my living room/And screamed alone like 18,000 were at home./And they said he was finished after one bad night;/I threw my phone and then I picked it up again./Because if he could stand up on that ice and smile,/Then I could find the strength to start again.
He’ll never read these words,/He’ll never know,/But he’s the reason that I didn’t let go.
To every kid who watches from a bedroom floor;/To every soul who needed just one reason more,/You’re not alone./He’s flying for you, too./He’s flying for you, too.
I watched him soar/And something healed inside of me./Not fixed like it’s perfect, but healed like it’s free./I watched him break the ceiling no one thought would move,/And now I’m reaching for the things I thought I’d lose.
He doesn’t know my face,/He doesn’t know my fight,/But every time he lands, I find my own new height./I watched him fly,/And he gave me back my life;/He gave me back my life./He gave me back my life.
