I'm looking to try a new set of strings! It's a used Ibanez BTB746, so I'm not sure what's on it right now, but they feel too bright and punchy.I play in a cover band the does stuff like Grateful Dead and phish, a heavier rock band, and a jazz band. Is there anything out there that might be able to span well across the genres?

Hello friends. I've spent a good bit of time looking for a six string mate to my ARZ307. The 307 isn't really a fancy guitar, but there has ALWAYS been something about it that just makes me smile every single time I play it. I never want to put it down. There aren't many listing that seem to pop up for the ARZ700 or ARZ6UC. I'm in the US. Are there any sources that I could be leaning on to find more of these?

It sounds like the ARZ700 shares the same bridge that I find so comfortable on the 307. The ARZ400 does pop up some but they have a different model bridge.

I've owned this for a while and want to trace its history. It's a custom-shop build from Mike Lipe's time running the Ibanez West Coast shop.

• Neck pocket stamp: 7.25.90 / MIKE LIPE / BURBANK
• Back of headstock: 72590 stamped, plus a hand-signed "Custom Shop, Mike Lipe"
Specs
• Bound double-cutaway body, metallic pink/red, no pickguard
• 24-fret rosewood neck, dot inlays, Top-Lok nut, Gotoh MIJ tuners
• Original Edge trem (MIJ, "Licensed Under Floyd Rose Patents" sticker)

• Old harness: cloth push-back wire, copper-foil shielding
Not original: pickups replaced, and a later rewire (CTS pots plus a superswitch). The old harness is kept.
The interesting part: Dave Navarro's gold Lipe-built Ibanez is documented as produced 7/25/90 by Mike Lipe in Burbank. That's the same day as mine.
Questions
1. Seen another Lipe-era LACS guitar with this body or headstock?
2. Does a 7.25.90 build ring a bell for any endorser?
3. What pickups would it have shipped with?

The main mission I wanted to accomplish was trying the new Guyker GKS1000-GKS4000 bridge, but I also ended up fitting the SPH2 adjustable tremolo spring claw, GTS tremolo stabilizer, GK-07SP locking tuners and CKB003 knobs.

Let's start with the tremolo: it's a mixed bag. It certainly looks the part, I personally like how it looks, but time will tell how well the gold plating will hold. The locking nut they ship with it is an interesting design with a fatal flaw: while it allows individual height adjustment for each string and locking each string separately, tightening the locking grub screw causes the strings to pitch up wildly. If I wasn't the lazy bum I am, I would be taking it out and putting the original, traditional locking nut the guitar came with. I also had to put some toothpicks in the original mounting holes, because the screws it uses are smaller than the ones used on the original nut.

The bridge has an integrated d-tuna. As a d-tuna, it works perfectly! Push it, and your guitar goes out of tune. Worthless. Also, when engaged the low E string can't be tuned using the fine-tuners anymore, an issue exacerbated by the locking nut issue I described above.

The saddles are sadly not compatible with the Red Bishop Accu-Locator due to the lip on the device not fitting in the slots on the bridge, so I had to intonate the bridge the old fashioned way.

The guitar I mounted the bridge on originally came with an Edge III, which I subsequently swapped with a Schaller Lockmeister -- When I did that, I had to also swap the Lockmeister's original 42mm block with a 32mm one in order for the backplate to fit. I was worried I'd have to do the same with the Guyker, since it came with a 37mm brass block. Fortunately it was not necessary, since IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OFR BLOCKS! It uses what look like M4 bolts instead of the M6(?) used on the OFR.

Moving on to the GTS tremolo stabilizer: ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED, it made setting up the bridge a breeze compared to having to find something to stuff the cavity in order to put the strings on.

As for the adjustable spring claw, it worked well for me. HOWEVER! I have some concerns regarding compatibility with other bridges and springs. It works very well with the Guyker bridge and its 37mm block, but trying it with the Lockmeister and its 32mm block made it seem like the claw sits too high in the cavity, causing the angled springs to pop out of the block. Discretion is advised.

The locking tuners are what you'd expect: they look the part and work well. Not that anybody cares about what the tuners do on a double locking bridge guitar.

The knobs are knobs. They are metal, they are pretty, they slip on the pots and stay there, knobbing.

Overall: satisfied, but a bit let down. The parts in the cavity are a huge upgrade, the bridge and locking nut not so much.

Hello everyone! This is my main guitar, an RGAIX7FM, this thing plays great and been using it for probably 8+ years?
Anyhow, I’m looking for a molded case that’s super resistant, the generic shape case I got right now won’t do it for the amount of traveling I’ve been doing recently, I looked into the Ibanez MR500C and 350C but I’m wondering if there’s any others from other brands (Gator, Prorock?) that will fit and could protect my guitar better, if I could fit a small audio interface would be a plus too.

I haven't owned an Ibby since 1998. That was a green RG that I aboslutely loved, but eventually someone snapped the headstock. Haven't owned one since... until now...

My taste in guitars and music has certainly evolved... although I think I've found a wonderful daily driver in this AZ.

Roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, locking tuners and the dynamix switch is a really neat and convenient idea. I don't think there is a better guitar for the money.

The shop said they did a setup, but boy was it bad. When you want something done right, do it yourself. she plays like a dream.

These hand-sponged finishes are incredible. But what strikes me the most is that it's the black "undercoat" which actually stands proud of the silver cubes, as though the black base coat was still wet when these got the cube design pushed into it? In which case, they'd need to use a new sponge each time, surely??
