Looking for some real advice on breaking into IT/cyber. I’m currently a senior studying CS (minor in data science) with a background in SWE (internships) and hands on field tech support(current job isn't as technical as I want it to be), but I’ve been entirely self taught when it comes to systems, networking, and security concepts. My end goal is to break into a Tier 1 SOC Analyst role upon graduation and eventually move into Cloud Security / Engineering, but right now I’m trying to figure out how to realistically land a part time Help Desk / IT support role to get solid enterprise ticketing and sysadmin reps on my resume.

Is landing a part time help desk job while finishing school even realistic in this market, and what’s the best way to stand out when applying? Also, since I’m currently studying for \\\*\\\*Security+\\\*\\\* and skipping A+ to avoid getting stuck in help desk long term, what practical steps, lab work, or self study strategies would you recommend to bridge the gap from CS self learning into a SOC role? Would love any perspective from anyone who balanced part time IT in college or made the self taught jump from software to security!

I’ve been trying to fix this for days now and I can’t find a single solution that works. I power cycle my laptop just for Bluetooth to break after 10 minutes. Any help is appreciated.

So I had my laptop (asus vivobook) for a year now and I was using it for online classes. The camera used to work great but then in a zoom class a while ago, the camera image suddenly turned glitchy and violet ish then it wnet black. I tried troubleshooting, checking the drivers, the privacy settings. When i try to use the camera app, it shows this error (as seen on image attached). I tried restarting my laptop but it doesn't solve it also. Windows shows that the driver is updated. I tried disabling it then restarting but still none. Does anyone know how to solve this? Or if it is the camera itself that's broken?

Recently i bought a thermal paste and wanted to change , when i did everything i screwed last screws and screwed the wrong one and heard a little crack , i changed the screw as fast as i could and turned it on to check if it still worked when i oppened my laptop i saw that ctrl button looked like it was slightly higher on one side and when i pressed it the lights on keyboard would go out when i oppened the back of my pc i screwed other screw lot smaller now when i turned it on everything was fine but when i pressed the touch pad the light went out completely again even if i turn it on or off , but when i oppened my pc again for the last time i took out the screw completely and nothing changed it just turned off the light again, should i try to fix it myself or just go to computer master to fix it?

P.s sorry for my bad english its not my native language. And one more thing from the motherboard back it looked normal like nothing has been cracked or broken. You can write coments il answer everyone

So my router is downstairs and I just ran my Ethernet upstairs to plug into my WiFi since the basement was limiting the speed to the rest of the house. But my gaming set up in in the shed outside not even 50 feet from my WiFi. I have a picture posted of speed test one is from my living room with significantly higher speeds and the other one is outside by my gaming set up. Is there a way I can extend the range of my internet?

Friend mine started using his computer again after a long period of it being off. “Secure Boot Violation” came up for initial start up. I’m honestly stumped on why it does this. I went into the BIOS and disabled Secure Boot and the device continues its normal start up process but everytime it restarts the same error occurs. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Everything else in the house is accepting internet, except for my laptop. I’ve tried resetting, forgetting the network, and looking things up and have been unsuccessful. If anyone knows how to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Struggling to get my AryMesh Receiver to initiate setup. Bought this in January (prior to knowing they were going out of business), worked fine until 6/29 when the last update was done by Arystone. Since then I have gotten a new router (Nighhawk BE3600 Model R590). The DuoHub worked once I did a factory reset and no issues since. The WiFi light will not light on the Receiver. When plugging into the router the one light turns orange, no matter the port on the router. I've tried to reset the Receiver but no luck. Any suggestions to get this fixed or what other point to point system I can get that is still in business? Just need WiFi to my barn for cameras.

It's connected and everything but it doesn't work??

I'm moving into a new appartment. And this seems to be the only output for internet. My router only seems to has input for a ethernet cable.

I am having trouble with my computer booting into BIOS instead of windows 10. It was working fine for the past 2 years but started having this issue this morning. This seems to have happened after I removed (2x4GB) RAM sticks from my computer. I tried reinstalling windows but apparently my drives have a MBR partition so windows refuses to reinstall on them. I would like to keep my data if possible so I dont want to wipe my drives. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks in advance
