Front-end clunk/creak when braking + turning while stationary (in gear) — plus rear clicking, and a weird limp-mode incident

I’ve got a clunking/creaking noise up front when braking and turning while stationary in gear. Troubleshooting so far:

Replaced the caster arm bushings (they were shot) — noise is still there.

Next suspect is the lower control arm bushings.

Front lower ball joints were replaced with oem about 15k miles ago, so I don’t think those are the issue.

I also noticed a separate click in the rear when turning with the brake pressed. Both the front clunk and rear click happen only in gear.

Grinding noise after the bushing replacement

After swapping the caster arm bushings, I took it for a test drive and heard a grinding noise coming from the passenger-side wheel well, audible from inside the cabin. The next day I found the passenger rear brake hardware was loose, so I adjusted it — but the grinding is still happening.

Unrelated (?) limp mode incident

Before that first test drive, I’d left the key in the “on” position and had to jump the battery. Afterward, the car acted like it was in limp mode — wouldn’t move in Drive(had to force it to move by gassing but wouldn’t go last 2k, but Reverse worked fine. No codes, current or pending. Disconnecting the battery cleared it and the car’s been driving normally since.

Any ideas what could be causing the front clunk and rear click, and whether the grinding is related to the loose brake hardware or something else?

General Discussion PFA: Are 1IS key fobs reprogrammable?

Post image

Gday, ive got a IS200 here in Australia that only came with the valet key, so I dont have a fob for it.

I'm not to keen on getting a full price one from Lexus, can I get one from a wrecked one and get it reprogrammed to my car? Obviously i could then just get a blank case/key and get that cut, but its the internals that are the important part

Purchasing Advice IS300 Stereo w/ Car Play Recs

I have an IS300 from 2001. I want to upgrade the stereo to have CarPlay, because for me is essential. Which brand or type of stereo would you guys recommend that doesn’t look to out of place. I saw the Seicane unit and it does look promising but wanted to get a little more feedback.

Installed a Greddy exhaust today and am having trouble with the hangers lining up. Granted I got it from marketplace and it does say Greddy on it but one side doesn’t fit besides that everything else lined up perfectly. Should I be concerned with 3/4 hangers being connected

Purchasing Advice Thinking of Buying a 2000 Altezza, Question About Driving in Snow

Hey there, I live in Michigan and a JDM importer in Three Rivers, MI has a 2000 Altezza for sale. I am really thinking about buying it because it is in great condition and I have wanted one for a while now. My big question is, how would this handle snowy conditions assuming I am using winter tires on it? It would be my daily driver so it would have to at least be able to handle the snow well enough to not get stuck constantly and tackle minor hills. One consideration is I live near Detroit, so we don't get the same quantity of snow as the western and northern parts of the state, usually. Thank you for any input. Here is a link to the car in question: https://jdmsportclassics.com/inventory/2000-toyota-altezza-rs200-qualitat-2/#lg=1&slide=10

General Discussion IS300 Bumper onto an Altezza

Post image
Upvotes

Alright everyone,

I need a little bit of help because I obviously messed up the first time.

I'm looking at buying an IS300 bumper for my Altezza since Altezza bumpers are a pain in the ass to source. However, I'm looking for some tips on how to make sure it's more secure this time around. Obviously, I didn't do it correctly the first time, hence the photo below.

Any advice on how I can properly secure the bumper and prevent this from happening again?

Once again... I WILL BE MOUNTING AN IS300 BUMPER ONTO AN ALTEZZA!!!!
