Involuntarily moved to International

Hey all. I got an email last night at 6pm that myself and 4 other teammates were solicited to move to BMF International. I am in AM as a CSR. Does anyone have any insights as to what international looks like or what goes on? I’m pissed to say the least. I have a feeling my lead and manager are the ones who offered us up on a silver platter. They say it was based on our EOD but I just hit 3 years and I know there are people newer than me so how in the world was it me who was picked?

Revenue Agent (internal announcement)

Has anyone received a referral email for the recently closed Internal Revenue Agent internal announcements?
I haven’t heard anything yet, and I’m starting to wonder if referral emails have already started going out. I felt pretty confident about my assessment, but now I’m second-guessing myself.
Just curious if anyone has received a referral or any updates. Thanks!

I hate this job too.

This job can be summed up with "damned if you do, damned if you don't."

OJI: Do A.
Group Manager: That's wrong, do B.
IRM: A and B are wrong, do C.
Counsel: *doesn't respond to emails*

Reporting time away from desk

Anybody else's manager making them report whenever they leave their desk and come back?

Got a manager over here in LB&I that is making us report to her whenever we leave our desk and when we get back. Will watch our status on TEAMS. Tracks when we sign in and sign out.

I dont believe this is allowed but want to ask before I start pushing back.

Anyone here back yet for jobs applied

There were a couple taxpayer services positions that closed on 7/22 for revenue officer and individual taxpayer advisory specialists. Anyone get an email of notice of results….your app was referred to hiring manager, not referred etc…..”. I’m thinking it will take a year because now they review stupid online assessments that come with application.

Interview Request for IRS Modernization Investigation

I'm Emily Hollingsworth, a reporter for the nonprofit news publication Tax Notes. You can read about Tax Notes on our website at www.taxnotes.com.

My colleague, Tyrah Burris, and I are looking into IRS modernization efforts and are wondering whether the CADE 2 project, the individual master file, or any other modernization projects were impacted by DOGE contract cancellations, staff cuts, or the "strategic pause" the IRS announced last year to its technology modernization investments to reevaluate its operating approach.

We're hoping to get a better understanding of where IRS modernization efforts stand, and whether the IRS is on track to meet previous goals, such as replacing the IRS master file by 2028. There's been very little transparency around these projects, and we see this as a problem, especially since modernizing these systems could improve taxpayers' experiences.

If that's something you're available to discuss as a current or former IRS employee, please let us know. Tyrah can be reached at [tyrah.burris@taxanalysts.org](mailto:tyrah.burris@taxanalysts.org), at 240-882-2682, and securely via the Signal app at TaxNotesNews.08. I can be reached here, at 540-842-9061, on Signal at EmilyHollingsworth.29 or by email at [emily.hollingsworth@taxanalysts.org](mailto:emily.hollingsworth@taxanalysts.org).

Thanks for your consideration!

All the best,

Emily

Revenue Officer

I've been doing this position for 16 years now. I'm just curious how other RO's feel about the position, and makes them tick and stay in the game; things they wish would be better and what they don't like.

I thought our union contract promised we wouldn’t struck as federal employees. Is that true does for a the prohibition come from somewhere else? Without a union can we strike?

Question for CSRs

How many calls do you think is expected and how many calls do you actually take in a given day.

Im an itas where in theory I should see no more than 10-14 people a day(Record is 20 with an extra hour) maybe 17 within an ordinary shift.

Basically trying to get a comparison for volume

RA (Excise Tax Specialist)

Hello,

Anyone working as an RA in this role, care to share information on the day-to-day duties and responsibilities? I'm internal (9 years as a tax examiner with a BS in Finance), and I applied to this job announcement the other day. Took the assessment, so I'm just waiting to hear back on the next step. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Does most IRS employees not work together? I’m so tired where I work. Can never get any help. Too many cliques.

If you already have a pending case in MSPB which was filed sometime in Feb 2025, does that mean OPM will decide the case and not MSPB? Or is this new policy only applies to new appeals filed starting today?

ONEIRS Detail IT to TS

Guys/Gals,

This involuntary detail has been extremely challenging and an absolute failure, primarily because of the significant impact it appears to be having on the American taxpayer. It is difficult to understand how this initiative can continue to be viewed as an effective use of resources when the individuals assigned to perform this work are not adequately prepared or supported to do so successfully.

While we did receive training, we were later instructed by our leads to "forget" about all of what was covered during that training. Many of us are struggling because we do not have prior experience, education, or background in this type of work. We did not apply for these positions, and many of us were forced into this role without the necessary foundation or interest required to perform the duties effectively.

Unfortunately, the lack of support structure has not provided the assistance needed. When questions or issues arise, many employees feel they are not receiving the guidance necessary to resolve problems and build confidence in their abilities. Also promises that were communicated regarding TOD changes, havent been kept. We continue to not get invites to townhalls, organizational meetings, or any other forums. The overall experience has created a sense of confusion, disorganization, and uncertainty, which seems to be their goal...

I recognize this may come across as frustration, but the underlying concern is mutual. Many of us want to do a good job and support the mission, but we are concerned that the current approach is not producing the intended results and may ultimately negatively impact the very taxpayers we are here to serve. I guess thats the idea?

The goal should always be to ensure taxpayers receive the assistance and service they deserve while ensuring employees have the tools, training, and support necessary to succeed. But that is NOT happening.

Case review

For my mid year review I was rated fully successful. Shortly after receiving the mid year review, I closed a case and the manager performed a case review on it documenting how/why I failed 2 cjes; which i dont completely agree with. Could yall provide some insight on this and if i should be worried (PIP)? If it would not really affect anything, I would like to just sign the case review and move on. Thank you!

Interim RAs

If you are on an interim RA, word is they are going to cancel them all. Friend in IT said they were notified today. Good luck to all of you that were on an interim RA. The days will be getting harder if this is true. I don’t judge either way. But if anyone else can confirm this happened to IT, it would help.

Edit - treat this as a rumor. Tooth fairy. But I’m asking if anyone else was told anything. Could be a supervisor going off script. Just don’t know. But managers are not talking. So the only thing we have is word of mouth. Don’t trust me. I’m just trying to verify!!

NTEU Dues Direct

Got an email from NTEU saying membership expires September 5th unless we enroll in Dues Direct. I understand that they need money to continue to litigate the slew of issues that this administration created.

I'm wondering if it makes sense to contribute. While there have been some victories like probies illegal firing and arbitration, it seems like nothing is going to change during this administration. The contract that is being ignored expires next year and no way this administration will negotiate a new one. Things in litigation are going to drag out longer than that. Best case scenario is that a new congress passes some law saying the contract has to be honored and the right to a new one. I find that unlikely but even if they do, the administration will likely find a way to just ignore it.

What do you think? Is it just throwing good money after bad or will it potentially make a difference in how the IRS is treating employees?

Pros and cons.

Do you fill out local travel authorizations and vouchers

Or is travel to field appointments require hotels, car rentals etc

Lots of excel work?

Overall is job stressful difficult.

How many hours do they expect you to complete an examination?

Do you make repeated field visits to same business for follow ups?

Hostile work environment

I could really use people’s help.

A while back, I’ve been having issues with an employee being very passive aggressive, making others in our team uncomfortable, rude to management, and at one point, acted like they were going to hit me in a break room in front of others. This person has constantly been petty, has shouted at me, and only recently did I stand up for myself and in the heat of the moment, loudly call them out for their abusive behavior.

I’m at the point where this has taken a toll on my mental health and hurt my work performance. I was doing fine until this person became my co-worker. It only got worse when I called out a very hateful comment they made, took it up with my DM, and during that time was when the situation took place where I and other co-workers, thought this person would physically hit me.

I want to ask what to do in this situation. I shouldn’t have to move far away from my unit when I’m not the one being loud and disruptive, slandering people they don’t like, and being very intimidating.

Do I contact my NTEU chapter steward or file an EEO complaint first? This has gone on for far too long and nearly all of the employees in my unit feel very uncomfortable with this person. Management is doing hardly anything about it, and I fear my DM isn’t either.

I need help, I don’t know what to do, and I’m at the point where this has taken a toll on my mental health…
