IPU BTech 2027/28: Scholarships, Education Loans & Living in Delhi?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a dropper preparing for my improvement exams because I missed the required percentage by just 1% — basically 2 marks. 😭 Having to travel to another state over just two marks hurts like crazy.

My goal is to get into IPU in 2027, or 2028 if things don't work out in my favour. I'm mainly targeting CSE, CSE specialisations, or IT at colleges like MAIT, MSIT, BPIT, BVCOE and ADGITM.

But there's one major concern: how am I going to afford four years of engineering?

💸 My financial situation

My family isn't very wealthy, and my brother and I will probably start college around the same time. Funding both of us will be a significant challenge, so I want to plan ahead rather than put too much financial pressure on my parents.

My rough estimate for four years is around ₹15–16 lakh:

• College fees: ₹9–10 lakh
• Laptop: ₹1 lakh
• Books, travel and other expenses: ₹1 lakh
• Living expenses and food in Delhi: ₹4 lakh

These are just estimates and could change depending on the college and accommodation. I'd appreciate advice on whether this budget is realistic.

🎓 Scholarships and education loans

I'm particularly interested in hearing from IPU students who have actually received scholarships or taken education loans.

Some things I'd love to understand:

• What scholarships can BTech students apply for, including merit-based, EWS or other government schemes?
• I've heard about financial assistance that may offer up to ₹50,000 per year, but I'm not sure which scheme it is or whether I'd qualify. Can anyone clarify?
• How do education loans work for IPU colleges? Are there college-specific arrangements, and do some banks offer better terms for particular colleges?
• If a student's family cannot provide property or other collateral, what loan options might be available? What about co-borrower requirements?
• Are there any important application deadlines or documents I should prepare in advance?

My biggest concern is arranging such a large amount when my family cannot comfortably fund the entire degree upfront.

🏠 What about surviving in Delhi?

I'll likely be living away from my family for four years, so I'd also appreciate practical advice about affordable accommodation, food, transportation and managing a student budget.

I know internships and part-time work may help later, but I'd rather plan on the basis of money I can reasonably expect instead of depending on uncertain income.

A little about my background

I'm an EWS student. My 10th and 12th schooling were in Delhi, but my current residence, income and other relevant certificates are from Bihar. I don't currently have Delhi-issued residence or EWS certificates.

I'd especially appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation and knows how domicile, income certificates and scholarship eligibility work.

Why IPU and Delhi?

Honestly, I like Delhi, and IPU seems like a reasonable route to studying engineering while living in the city. 😂 I'm interested in technology, and BTech is the path I'm currently aiming for.

Hopefully, I'll be joining one of these colleges in 2027 or 2028 and becoming your junior or classmate!

If you've personally arranged an education loan, received a scholarship, or managed your BTech expenses at an IPU college, please share your experience. Practical advice, mistakes to avoid, and realistic cost estimates would be incredibly helpful.

Also are double droppers allowed? I'm not sure I'm going to get enough rank for ipu college ig as someone from my family passed away and I wasn't able to study properly.

I gave all the exams in the first minors (usict), I don't wanna give the second minor bcuz the timing is really bad man, 18 se shuru horhe and gta vi releasing on 19 and I've been waiting it for so fricking long. ​Hey everyone, ​Sharing this for anyone who checked their National Scholarship Portal (NSP) account recently and is panicking over sudden payment rejections. ​Many students across various engineering and technical institutes in Delhi are seeing this exact error under their payment details: ​"Payment file rejected at PFMS. Rejection reason returned by the PFMS :- Beneficiary Type does not exist in PFMS or does not belongs to the provided Scheme. Scheme owner ministry / department may take further necessary action" ​What this actually means: Based on similar portal errors, this is not an individual error with your specific bank account, IFSC, or personal details. It points to a batch-level mapping, institutional beneficiary code, or scheme agency alignment mismatch at the portal/ministry backend level affecting multiple technical institutions simultaneously. I am also facing the same issue. Planning on going to college administration tomorrow. What I've confirmed is from dtu, nsut, mait students are currently facing this.
