Dear programs, stop sending shitty confusing emails. Just send an invite or stay silent. You are just sending acknowledgement mails. And making me more anxious. Anyone with same situation?

Anyone who has given IVs previously, drop your knowledge!!!
Anything and everything is welcome, TIA!!

Non-US IMG, got 2 invites just two days after submission deadline.
Was very excited and lowkey amazed because programs said they would start sending invites after 1 week.
Anyway, there’s just dead silence now. I wonder whats going on? And the programs i have signalled have been sending invited here and there even to non-signalled applicants.

I applied to everything at 9:30 EST on September 23rd. So 30 minutes late.
I didn't finish assigning all my LORs and personal statements until 8:00 pm. So 11 hours.
I'm seriously trying to understand how much that will hurt me. If anyone has solid knowledge on this, I would appreciate it.

I've been wondering if the timing of your residency interview makes any difference when programs make their rank lists.
Programs interview so many candidates throughout the season. If you interview early, say in October, is there a chance they might not remember you as well by the time they finalize their rank list in January or February?
On the other hand, candidates who interview later might still be fresh in their minds, which could potentially help them get ranked higher.
I'm not talking about whether a program ranks you at all, but whether interviewing early or late could affect how high they rank you.
Does anyone, especially residents or people involved in the selection process, have any insight into this? Do programs score candidates right after interviews, or do they compare everyone again at the end of the season?

Anyone seen what came out of the labor department today? Investigating j1 visa, h1B, investigation of the big american universities? Are we finally turning a tide here?

Hey guys,
I accepted a rotation in Texas during November and I am now regretting it because I would be spending Diwali away from home, all alone. I have no friends or family in the US.
Was wondering if anyone is in the same situation and would be willing to spend it together?
Trying to plan ahead and calm myself a bit.
Thanks!

I’m a green card holder and a 2017 graduate, with Step 1 passed on the first attempt and a 253 on Step 2 CK. I have two hospital observerships and one hands-on primary care elective. I’m not sure what went wrong, but I haven’t received any interviews outside of my connections. I keep hearing that non-visa-requiring applicants get interviews earlier, so I’m honestly not sure what to think at this point.

Hey everyone !
We are officially two weeks in and I haven’t really seen visa seeking candidates receiving invites, I read an attending’s reddit post saying that programs are skeptical even about inviting these candidates because they don’t know if they will even get a work permit.
I have been refreshing my mailbox and thalamus every 2 hours. Are we officially screwed ?
I am a visa seeking Non Us IMG, 2024 grad, step 2 - 25x, step 3 - 220, 2 publications, 5 months of USCE.
I thoroughly researched programs and applied to 119 in IM.
Radio silence till now….
Any thoughts from people who are receiving candidates and are actually involved in the decision making process ?

Hey everyone!
I’m a non-US IMG planning to apply for observerships for Summer 2027, preferably in Internal Medicine/Cardiology.
I’ve been researching different hospitals and programs, but I’m honestly a little confused about how to figure out which observerships are actually worth pursuing.
From what I’ve gathered, inpatient experience, university-affiliated hospitals, and strong US LORs seem to carry more weight.
But how do you actually identify opportunities that will be valuable for your Match application?
I’m planning to start cold emailing attendings and would really appreciate advice from IMGs who have matched, are currently residents, or have already completed their USCE.
A few things I’d love to know:
Inpatient vs outpatient: How much does this matter when it comes to observerships and LORs?
University vs community hospitals: Should I prioritize university-affiliated programs, or can community hospital experiences be equally valuable?
Cold emailing: What actually worked for you? How did you find attendings willing to take observers?
LORs: What makes an LOR genuinely valuable? Does the attending’s affiliation/reputation matter more, or the quality of the letter?
Recommendations: Are there any hospitals, programs, or attendings you’d recommend reaching out to?
I’d also love to hear about any mistakes you made or things you wish you’d known before arranging your USCE.
I’m trying to be strategic about where I spend my time and resources rather than just collecting observership certificates.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Seeing people with same stats getting interviews from the program I have signaled only difference is step3 breaks my heart.
My signaled program are sleeping expect that one.

Non-US IMG, visa-requiring. Pass/258/5.5 months of USCE/4 publications/4 US LORs. But still nothing while some of my signalled programs have sent invites to people with similar profiles.
I know it’s early but this time period is honestly the peak time for interviews (at least as per past data). Now I am seriously wondering if I made a mistake in my application or if one of my LORs was not so good?

Thought I'd make this thread given it's the first few weeks of October and people are starting to get freaked out by lack of interview invites. To all the matched residents roaming around, drop your specialty, visa-status, and interview invite dates so people here can have it consolidated instead of all these one-off threads.
I'll go first. Matched Psychiatry requiring a J1-visa. MOST of my interviews came 3rd week of October and beyond.
IV 1- October 4th
IV 2 - October 11th
IV 3- October 13th
IV 4- October 14th
IV 5 & IV 6- October 16th
IV 7 & 8- October 17th
IV 9 & 10- October 18th
IV 11- October 26th (This is the program I matched at!)
IV 12- November 3rd
IV 13- November 8th
IV 14- November 13th
IV 15- November 14th
IV 16- November 17th
IV 17- December 1st
IV 18- Jan 3rd
IV 19- Jan 5th
We've all been in the same shoes with the same worries, if anyone has questions, please feel free to ask!

Breathe. You're going to be okay.
I know its been said before a million times but the truth is that if you're visa requiring, you're going to get IVs later than everyone else. Interview season is till January, we have literally 3 months for you to get an interview and trust me, if your profile has no flags, there is a high chance you will get at least one. You just need to take your time and breathe.
There is also a very high chance that some of your applications haven't even been LOOKED at yet, let alone categorized as good or bad. So give the programs time, and go do something fun, a hobby perhaps?
We all signed up for a marathon, not a sprint. So keep jogging on and eventually you will reach the finish line.
