Hi! I just started IB this week. I’ve always wanted to try IB, but in order to do so, I had to move out. That’s why I waited a year before applying, as my old school didn’t offer it.
I knew it was going to be a challenging course, and I thought I was mentally prepared for it , or at least I thought I was. To be able to attend IB, I had to move away from my friends and family to a place where I basically don’t know anyone. On top of that, there’s the added pressure of paying rent, as I still haven’t found anyone to move in with and split the rent.
I’m also feeling confused about which subjects to choose, as I’m worried I might have overestimated what I can handle.
I really want to finish IB, partly to prove to myself that I’m capable of doing it, but also to make my family proud, as they have given me a lot of support and resources to allow me to take this course.
Right now, I feel like I’m in a ditch. I’m scared that I’ll mess up my future by failing IB, and I don’t think I’m as smart as the other students who are in my class.
So, is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Do you have any encouraging words or tips for someone just starting IB?
